The fried chicken ranch and brisket was meh.

The staff were quite rude and grunted each time we asked them for something. My mom was afraid to ask them for extra napkins because they were so unpleasant. Part way through our meal, the staff decided to eat lunch as well. It's fine that they have their meals in the dining area, however, they completely ignored the customers. Regarding my mom needing extra napkins. She ended up getting up and getting it herself. A couple came in to dine and were waiting at the entrance for a long time for someone to greet them. They finally were seated but then no one came to get their order because they were having their lunch a few tables down. Like I said, they completely ignore the customers. So the couple (who sat at the table across from us) unfortunately got up and left. The food was decent. We ordered 9 dishes and they all were good. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take any photos. However, you can get just as good food at other places with much better service. I do not recommend this place due to poor service.

TL;DR/The Short Version: One of the very few Asian…read morerestaurants in Perth, ON. We got takeout. The Pad Ki Mow was tasty. No table service. The Long Version: My husband and I got takeout from The Hot Wok for dinner when we were staying in Perth. All their food is packaged as takeout, but they do have seating where you can eat your takeout food, just no table service. We decided to take the food back to our hotel room instead. We got the Bang Bang Chicken ($18.25) and the Shrimp Pad Ki Mow ($19.50). I called my order in and we walked there to pick it up. I was told it would take about 30 minutes to be ready. (They make everything to order.) We arrived after 30 minutes and our food was ready as promised. The lady on the phone was very courteous and I think she was the same lady at the pickup counter. The Bang Bang Chicken was listed on the menu as "Lightly breaded chicken tossed in a creamy honey sauce, on a bed of greens." It did not mention sesame seeds were sprinkled on top and I forgot to say "no sesame seeds" with my order so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't really eat this dish, but that was on me. I was able to manage a few bites that didn't have sesame seeds on them (I can handle mild contamination) and I found the meat a bit dry, but the outside was pleasantly crispy and the honey sauce was pleasant. The "bed of greens" was actually raw shredded cabbage and carrots in a creamy sauce. I was asked how spicy I wanted this dish and I said medium, but it wasn't spicy at all, like not even mildly spicy, lol. Don't worry, the food didn't go to waste, as my husband ate it. The dish came with a small serving of steamed white rice. The rice was good, not too mushy nor too dry. The Shrimp Pad Ki Mow was tasty, albeit a tad too oily for me. It had 6 large shrimp, which were all properly deveined. They were plump and juicy. The dish also had broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots and Bok Choy. I was happy to see they were very generous with the vegetables. You have the option of having this dish with rice noodles or rice, I chose the noodles since that's what traditional Pad Ki Mow is. However, the noodles used were rather thin, like even thinner than traditional Pad Thai noodles. I like the wider noodles that typically come with Pad Ki Mow (or as I usually know it as, Pad Kee Mao). I was also asked what spice level I wanted this dish and I also said medium, and for this dish, it was a true medium as it had a spicy kick to it. The waiter was serving the front cash with take away orders, answering phones and also waitering for the entire restaurant. They should have had a waiter for the front desk and another for the restaurant tables. Food came out pretty quickly though, just took a while to order it. The cleanliness of the tables were also a little gross if you're a germ-a-phobe. There was still some gunk on the placemats and a lot of tables around weren't cleaned up yet. If cleaned it seems like it was a very quick wipe down and reset of the tables between customers. The food however is where they get saved. The beef skewers were *chefs kiss*. Uber delicious. The red curry was spicy but creamy and delicious. The pad thai was only so-so. It was more the flavour of watery soya sauce with a side of fish sauce to dip the noodles into. The peanuts were really good and the waiter graciously asked and brought more peanuts for the dish. The chicken in the meal was very fresh tasting and cooked well. Will return for the beef skewers and curry but not the pad thai. Small gem in the rural Casselman area.
