This is their first location in Ottawa (it's technically in Kanata, lol). I was going to try their famous blueberry chicken shawarma but was seduced by their $8 daily specials, haha. On Sundays, their regular-sized Habibi bowls are only $8 (usually $12.99) and y'all know I can't resist a deal, so that's what I got. I figured since I was saving $5, I might as well add 2 beef samosas (for $2.99) for kicks and still be ahead, lol. The Habibi Bowl is rice, chicken shawarma, fried onions, tzatziki, spicy garlic sauce, parsley and pita chips. I like that they fry up the chicken on the grill after they slice it off the spit. The chicken was moist and flavourful. The rice was a bit clumpy, but still tasty. They were super generous with the fried onions and pita chips. Lots of crunchy texture for sure in this bowl! They were also generous with the sauces. The beef samosas were mostly wrapper, not too much beef and onion filling, but they were crispy and piping hot from the fryer. They are more similar to African-style samosas/sambusas as opposed to Indian-style samosas. They're also pretty small. Service was courteous and efficient. I like that the takeout containers are cardboard and not styrofoam. It's a fast food joint. Some tables are available to eat in. Atmosphere is very casual. I was poking around on UberEats for deals and saw this new pizza shop pop up on the app. They were having a BOGO (buy one get one free) deal: small pepperoni pizza for $14.95. So I had to check it out. I ordered for pickup. The pizzas were ready in about 20 mins. The pizzas were delicious! They use the huge pepperoni! There was a good amount of cheese and the homemade sauce was tasty. The crust was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the side. The undercarriage was nicely browned. Staff were pleasant and friendly. The restaurant has seats to dine in. They also have Indian-fusion pizza, which I'll have to try in the future. I'm so happy to have a new non-chain pizza joint in the neighbourhood. They are where We Desi used to be (I learned that it's the same owners, just new business model). The Long Version: This past summer, walking around the 'hood, I noticed that Honest Indian Restaurant opened up where Tony Capone's Grill used to be. Honest Indian Restaurant is a chain from India that started as a food cart in Ahmedabad in 1975. It has since expanded to Australia, Thailand, the USA, and Canada. This location is the first (and currently only one) in Ottawa. They sell vegetarian Indian food and also Indo-Chinese fusion food. I ducked in and got a Kesar Pista Falooda ($7.99) to go. Staff were very courteous and hospitable. It was a hot day out and they brought me some cold water while I waited for my Falooda to be made. I thought this was a nice gesture. The Falooda was tasty, but much smaller than I expected for $7.99. I asked for no basil seeds, and it came as requested. It had pistachio syrup, vermicelli, crushed pistachio nuts, ice cream, and strands of saffron. It was creamy and rich. I just wished it was colder. The ice cream melted pretty quickly. There is plenty of seating inside to dine in. The restaurant is located in the Carling Mini Mall plaza, so lots of free parking available. I'm looking forward to returning to try some of their Indo-Chinese fusion dishes, especially their Triple Schezwan Fried Rice, which is fried rice with Manchurian, Gobi and Paneer. (211)

Thankfully found this bakery. Owners are very friendly and kind. I didn't like that the pita were already cut, as if they were going to be used to make sandwiches for customers. I prefer to get a brand new unmanhandled bag of pitas. The decor inside is like typical shawarma joints. Staff were very nice and pleasant. It's in a strip mall. Same strip mall as Your Independent Grocer and Pizza Pizza. Lots of free parking.
