i recently discovered jess ranch and the handful of times i've been here, i've had a joyful…read moreexperience. the staff members are always super helpful and very kind when it comes to fishing their ponds. here are my takes if you plan on making a trip out here to go fishing. GET there bright and early, especially right after they stock! business hours are 7am-4pm saturdays and sundays only. there will be a line in the morning. get there early to claim your spot. the summertime doesn't get overpopulated (temperatures easily get over 100 degrees), but there will be a good amount of people since it is a family friendly business. oh, also, cost of entry is $30 per adult. children do get a discount, but unsure of that cost. on those hot days, bring a canopy or some cover. it'll help with the heat because you will be in the sun. don't get me wrong. there are some good fishing spots in the shade by the trees. in case you're unfortunate in getting there early, you won't be able to get this spot until later in the morning. the bites are really good after stock days. they also have an angler's pond which is good for the kiddos! you do pay per fish captured, so keep that in mind. overall, i've had more successful fishing here more than the times i've been skunked. my only gripe is that the line could move along a little faster. the front window staff should have someone taking cash payments while the other person could take card payments. one time it took me 30-45 minutes to get in and 5-10 minutes to get to my spot. another 5-10 minutes to get setup and line in the water. by that time, it'll be almost an hour in before i start fishing. i'm rating this place 4 out of 5 stars!

We planned on staying about 2 hours and told him he could catch as many as he wanted. Big mistake for us. The little booger caught 4 trout and a carp that was 1/2 his size. At $8.00 per fish, it was pricey. But......We were paying for the experience. He loves fishing. We would have paid $$$ to go to an amusement park and the memories wouldn't have been the same. All the staff was terrific. The only negative is, it is a little run down.

I've visited this park for years and it continues to improve. It's such a gem to have in the area…read more There's space for children to play, and open space for throwing frisbees, or having a picnic, or reading a book. Plenty of space to walk your dog. There's at least two lakes that I've seen and numerous hiking trails several of which I've enjoyed. Some people like to fish, I'm not sure which type of fish are in the waters. There's also horse trails and bike trails. Most of the trails are accessible whether you have a motorized scooter, cane, or wheelchair, you can enjoy the nature trails. There's a variety of different wildlife and birds. A great place to bird watch. There's cows nearby. I love cows! There's clean restrooms, but they never have soap. There's overnight camping available and space to keep horses, not sure if it's for overnight horse lodging. I'm grateful for the Regional Park card they offer to veterans. That's a huge benefit and I appreciate it. I recently discovered the Celeste De Blasis Memorial Garden which was so beautiful it made me emotional. It's nice to see things like that in this area. This is a beautiful park and one of my favorite parks to visit. It's open daily from 7:30 am to 7pm.

There is a fee per day/per car ($15 as of this writing), so plan accordingly. While I didn't camp, I did see some stunning campsites right next to the water and in beautiful condition. Lots of great hiking spots, lots of folks fishing and overall a wonderful atmosphere. There's even a Frisbee golf course. Very clean and well-maintained. Parking is included in the entrance fee.
