This is a cool spot too come hangout and plenty of space and grills. Gazebos plus ducks a win all the way around. Let me say I hate public restrooms but they are cleaner then most. Definitely a plus will be back

One of my happy places! This park calms me! I love seeing all of the trees, dragon flies, squirrels, variety of ducks/birds and fish. I like to walk here and be at peace! Family oriented! Heavy police presence. Clean bathrooms! Please be aware that there are rules and regulations regarding fishing. This is a wonderful place to gather and enjoy nature! Peace!

Probably the nicest park in all of antelope valley if I am going to be honest. It's super quiet, beautiful and relaxing all around. It opens from 6:30am and closes at sunset which is roughly 6pm. Many people come here to walk, run, bike, bbq or to just have fun with others. It's very clean! I love coming here to run a few laps while the sun is rising. Everyone who comes is friendly. A ton of parking space!

Velociraptor Duck!! He wasn't afraid and appears to be the alpha male/protector of the other ducks.

I was actually thoroughly pleased by the park and thought they've done an amazing job creating such a lush, natural looking environment/habitat in the actual middle of nowhere. Literally, if you walk around the lake, just look beyond the fence and you can see the useless the land it used to be! Only reason we stopped by, was after a hike at Green Mountain we popped over to check-out the musical road (and the lackluster disappointment that was) and then looked for another hike, to make it all worthwhile, and found the Apollo Park was crazy close so off we went and immediately after arriving we were really take aback at the high level of maintenance, care and vision that was undertaken to create this park. Also, we noticed that the patron who were there seemed to thoroughly enjoy and respect the park. That was so pleasing to witness. Good job on this Lancaster!!

    Clouds, trees, water, fowl, beauty!

I've been here many times with my daughter. She enjoys the two playgrounds on the west and north sides, which have slides and climbing equipment, and swings at the west park. The east park is for older kids, and a little too "modern" for my taste. The park overall is gorgeous. Plenty of stunning views from almost anywhere. The "lakes" are beautiful, and the ducks and geese seem to enjoy them! The fowl are friendly (as birds go), and will mosey out of your way if you approach them while on the walking path. The walking paths around the park are wide and spacious--plenty of room or walking or running in pairs, or pushing a baby stroller. There are several restroom buildings placed conveniently throughout the park, and they are generally in good condition. Lots of barbecue pits and shaded picnic areas. If you're looking for a bit of privacy, such as a nice patch of grass for a picnic, you're almost guaranteed to find it. Fox Airfield is nearby, and it's fun to watch the small planes fly above. My only negative is that the algae (I assume) in the water causes unpleasant odors as you get close to the shores. Sometimes on walks, depending on the wind, there's a gust of "yuck." Not sure if there's anything park maintenance can do about it. But, it doesn't preventme from returning. Oh, and if you approach the park from the 14 Freeway, heading west along Avenue G, be sure to enjoy The Musical Road about halfway in!

Dog park is awesome! The ppl who come towards the evening (after 4pm) are friendly. The dogs are great. My pup pup Oreo ( Husky ) loves it there!

This place is a hidden jewel especially if you are not from Lancaster. I am from LA so this is a slower city but this place makes up for it. This is a shot of the park at 6 am where the sun is about to rise and you can see how gorgeous it is. Great place to come and have a picnic, bring the kids, also a walk way about the whole Hugh pond full with beautiful ducks and other life!! Around the whole pond is about 1 mile and when I come early when it is still cool it's doesn't feel like it because of the scenic run. If you seeing n the area you have to stop by.

We love this place. Great for daily walks with our dogs & wonderful when our family visits from out of town.

Named in honor of Apollo 11, the park opened on November 4, 1972.

Sitting next door to the Lancaster Airport. 3 miles from Edwards AFB and 3 miles from downtown Lancaster, this park / fishing hole is probably one of the best kept secrets in the Lancaster Valley. The park is open all year round and the last time I visited, it was free to park, fish, play and BBQ but, since the park is open to all, you will need a fishing license to fish which, any of the gas stations in Lancaster will be more than happy to sell you. The park alone is beautiful and host ducks, geese and other birds native to the Mojave Desert. The lake is also well stocked year round with Rainbow Trout but, I've managed to bag a few Small Mouth Bass, Blue Gills and a Cat Fish too. If you should find yourself in the Lancaster area, your car probably broke down or your lost. But seriously. Go grab some KFC or make a run for the boarder then, stop by and check out the park while you get your grub on.

I've been coming to this park since way back in 1974. It's gone thru a LOT of changes, Some good, some not so good....However, overall it does what a GOOD county park should do, give you a place to relax, unwind, take the kids, the dogs, the grand kids.....have a picnic, fish, BBQ, spend sometime in the outdoors. This used to be the home of the local R/C Boat club, It was always fun watching them race around the lake, kids really LOVED it! It's a great place to go for a walk, it's always clean, bathrooms are well stocked too! Go spend a day there, feed the ducks and geese......you won't be disappointed! Yes, I am a BIG Fan of this Park!

Big open park, very walkable. Kids love looking at the ducks, swans, and geese. There's 3 playgrounds for kids to choose from. Very spacious, and lots of parking available.

Granted, not an equal replacement but was still enjoyable with multiple vistas of the man-made lake and a few patches of wildflowers. We started at Forest Road 6N08 and Bouquet Canyon Road along the eastern edge of the reservoir and just kept going up until we reached the top of Martindale Ridge. The ridge is also accessible from opposite side via Sierra Highway near Agua Dulce. Not an area of the Angeles National Forest where environment concerns are at the forefront, the roads are legal for Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) use like dirt bikes, ATVs, and 4-wheelers. We were the only hikers on the dirt roads which we safely shared with six motorcyclists and a dozen 4x4s. As with most off-roading areas, multiple tracks were cut through the mountains. The trails were either named Martindale Ridge Road or Rowher OHV Trail. Consequently, it's easy to confuse the two and depending on the route taken, distances can greatly vary. For example, we hiked 5.0 miles going up and 3.8 miles returning down. The entire hike was 8.9 miles with a 1700' elevation difference.
