Find a spring in your step at your local park. Silver lake park has temporarily closed all vehicular traffic through park. A large paved road for keeping distance from other park goers. Walk around the reservoir or cross in middle and make your laps with the sunshine on your shoulders. Parking is easy on both Forrest Ave and Victory Blvd have plenty of street parking. Very flat and paved easy access for all to walk or run. Tiered levels with fenced in dog run, on Victory Blvd. side top tier. Also, plenty large grassy areas for sports, soccer, frisbee. Lots of people picnic on lawn with friends and family here, no tables or bbqs. Silver Lake has benches to take a seat and embrace natural setting, and a golf course on the other side of the road. Tennis courts and softball field on the other side park off Hart Blvd, a short hilly walk down Forrest Ave.

Silver Lake Park is the most nature-gifted park in Staten Island, New York. It has a beautiful jogging track. It connects victory blvd and Forest ave. It also has a kid's playground, dogs park. Beautiful stream though I miss boats in there. So I suggest everyone visiting Staten Island must spend some time at Silver Lake park. I promise, you will take lots of beautiful memories with you.

One of the most beautiful parks I've been to. PERFECT for picnics! Absolutely love bringing my kids here

One of the most stunning parks in all of New York City. It's a shame my fellow New Yorkers aren't as aware of this park as they should be, but I guess that's why this park exudes serenity. Seriously, take a few hours this weekend (maybe with the doggo) and just sit in Silver Lake Park. A little bit of a trek from the ferry if you don't live nearby, but worthwhile.

Most peaceful park on the Island. With beautiful lake in the middle, between steep hills and old trees. It's a great park for runners, dog walkers, or just to relax in hot summer day on a grass or bench. Stone bridge that crosses the lake is an architectural beauty, and love of the fisherman. There always ducks swimming in the water, and they are fun to watch! (Parking on Victory can be problematic, but around the corner leading to Forest Ave you can always find a parking spot on the side that hugging the park.)

Great place to relax or exercise. I've only been here during the day and and a few occasions around dusk, but in my personal opinions it's one of the best parks to run in. It has separate areas for the children's park and dog play area. It's always clean, as I constantly see the parks department patrolling around to empty trash cans and pick up any branches or trim shrubbery. It has a beautiful lake which is absolutely awesome to run around especially during the changing of seasons where you're able to capture the true beauty of the park. Oftentimes you can find people gathered along the bridge that was constructed over part of the lake to allow for safe access for fishing and a shortcut that allows one to travel from one side of the park to the other without having to travel another mile to do so. Overall this a great environment to take a stroll, brisk walk or train for a 5K/marathon, or play with your children and/or pets. There's even a beautiful golf course that runs parallels along the west side of the park.

Silver Lake Park is a really beautiful, big park. There is a walking path around the lake and a beautiful stone bridge that intersects the lake. If you walk further up the hill towards the Victory Blvd side, the overhead views of the lake are really pretty. Closer to Victory Blvd there is a fenced, off leash dog park. It is mulched and a nice addition to the park but could be maintained a little better. Many dogs seem to really enjoy it, though. My black lab doesn't care for the dog park much so we opt to just walk the trails. Lots of families bring their kids to ride bikes, I see lots of runners, some relaxing on the benches. Overall it's a great park for everyone.

Sunset view from one of the overlook spots.

Easily one of my favorite parks on the island!! This park caters to everyone! From adults working out, to kids playing on the jungle gym. There are countless paths, a dog park, and a beautiful lake with a bridge passing through! Sunrise and sunsets are absolutely beautiful here and the overlook spots throughout the park all make for some incredible views.

When I lived closer years ago, I'd stroll here almost daily. Between the lake, the hills of grass, and the walkways covered by the shade of trees, it's hard to find a nicer suburban park.

Great park for a run.. Walk.. Or just find your self a bench and dream away! No one will big you as your relaxing and hanging out. There is lots of parking on the Forest Avenue side right before you hit Victory Blvd so that's where I tend to gravitate towards.

We found it while doing an online search for intimate, outdoor wedding venues and were surprised to find such a nice space for a reasonable rate. Christina, the onsite coordinator, was very helpful in getting us started and working with our requests and ideas. Our wedding day was rained out so we had to move our ceremony indoors, in an exhibit room next to the reception area, but it worked out well (the outdoor terrace is really nice though and once the rain cleared, our guests were able to take their photos backed by the nice fall foliage). The center accommodated the move and it was the perfect space for the amount of guests that we had. The site is beautiful and well-maintained. It has a naturally built-in rustic decor, so we didn't need to go above and beyond for decorations. Their staff helps with set up and breakdown of tables and chairs and there's a good-sized kitchen/service area. We had a lot of guests complimenting our choice and asking how we found this place (Staten Island is sort of the forgotten borough, sorry!). It was the perfect space for our special day and we'd definitely recommend it to other couples seeking an intimate wedding venue.

I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

The Narrows dividing Upper and Lower New York Bay were the best spot to position those military efforts and the Fort Wadsworth complex on northeastern Staten Island was selected to build those primary fortifications. As we know, the British occupied New York City and Staten Island early in the Revolutionary War. The Reds were aware of the value of this locale, but did not fear the fledgling American Navy. It was not until after independence that our weak central government began to take steps to utilize the area for defense of what became our most important harbor. First sandstone, later granite, were set to allow over 200 cannon to be placed facing the lower harbor to repel invaders. The War of 1812 and the Civil War saw the most activity and growth, until Fort Wadsworth was the largest and most formidable redoubt on the Atlantic seaboard. By the early 20th Century coastal defenses were no longer relevant due to the firepower on ships and the birth of the modern Air Force. Today, the fort has been decommissioned and become part of the Gateway National Recreation Area run by the National Park Service. The 226 acres bracketing the north end of the Verrazano Bridge is now a great place to walk, explore the old naval station and see a spectacular view of Lower Manhattan from the promontory facing Upper New York Harbor that sits directly under the bridge. This whole stretch of eastern Staten Island is mostly deserted in winter, making an ideal time to visit and allow your imagination to run wild with how different this spot was earlier in our national history. I have driven over the VNB hundreds of times, remarked on the fantastic view of city and harbor from the steel span, but never realized Fort Wadsworth was there beneath me. I guess getting onto the Belt Parkway required all my attention. Now that I know and have visited its historic granite walls, I will at the very least acknowledge its stony presence and tip my cap in passing to thank all who served there in defense of our young nation.
