Not sure why Silver Fox only has four stars. Everything we had was great. Older style menu but something for everyone. The ribeye and fillet were cooked perfectly medium rare. The steamed vegetables were crisp. Casserole mashed potatoes were yummy. Small but decent wine list. The J Vineyards Pinot noir was a nice value at $80 but also had many in a lower price range. This is my go to place in Casper. I am here often for work and this place never disappoints. The fried lobster tails are banging. The steaks are great. I got the French Onion soup the other day and it was amazing. What makes this place even better is the people. Brian is often my server and he is a stand up guy. The whole staff (sorry I don't remember all your names ) are so nice and accommodating. I am often on the road by myself all week so it is nice to unwind with some familiar faces. I have met some of the nicest patrons at this establishment as well. On top of it all, they always have hockey playing in the lounge. Some of the nicest people in Casper hang out here, so if your looking for excellent food, comfortable setting and warm faces this is the place! read more

My prime rib was cooked okay but had little flavour. Went here specifically for walleye. The description said that it was 1 filet, so we did not do a split plate. It came as 2 filets and would have been plenty. It was heavily breaded and not as good as a pan-fried dish. I saw the chicken pot pie and it looked wonderful. However, very little chicken and vegetables. Lots of potato, and quite tasteless. Good food (not great) with a rude manager and poor customer service. We went to eat for a family dinner tonight. One member of our party has a severe food allergy. Unfortunately, the food allergy was not handled well. We asked to speak with the chef since no Celiac friendly menu is offered, but this is one of the best restaurants in Casper... surely they can handle a common food allergen. The manager was rude denied our request to speak with someone from the kitchen, told us to order a steak and a potato and moved on. She did not at all make us feel comfortable eating there. We almost left. Instead, we asked again to speak with someone more familiar with the allergy. The manager argued with me refused to let us speak with anyone from the kitchen, refused to make us feel safe eating there. (Argued to the point that one of the other hostess girls apologized to me later after the manger walked off.) I told the manager that if she could not make us feel safe and comfortable eating there, we would leave. With noticeable frustration and a big sigh, she threw her hands up, and agreed to let us speak with someone from the kitchen. We ordered, ate, I thanked them for accommodating the food allergy and request- even though they obviously did not want to. Maybe not in Casper, but in cities with better customer service it is customary to talk to the chef when trying to determine what is safe for someone with a life threatening allergy to eat. Probably Casper's best top end restaurant. Nice quiet dining room, intimate settings. Starter salad is enough to blow away most people. Nothing straight out of a bag here. You'll find everything from cucumbers to tomatoes (ordinary enough I suppose) but then it takes off into a realm of pineapple, oranges, black olives etc. Freshly baked rolls to accompany the salad. Dinner menu is limited but everything they do is done right. Blackened Prime is always a favorite and there is usually a special fish dish. Consistently good, no surprises, great place to take guests and clients. Excellent wine list. Superb service. Many of their staff has been there for years and years. I had hopes for this place. Here is a taste of my first (and the only visit) to The Silver Fox. This place took 5 minutes to greet me and my guest at the door. We were both appropriately dressed. At lunch. When hardly anyone was there. Then it took us 5 more minutes to get seated. 5 more to take a drink order. 5 more to get our drinks to our table. We ordered a chicken philly steak and a cobb salad (no eggs). 25 minutes more waiting. They brought us a Beef Philly Cheese steak and a Cobb salad. The salad had a few pieces of eggs in it and was starting to wilt. I thought stuff was supposed to be made to order here? I am pretty certain they just picked the eggs out of a pre-made salad. They also took forever to bring us the correct Cheese Steak sandwich after we corrected them. The correct one wasn't any better. Both had very dry and rough meat. Very little seasoning: bland. The french fries that came with it were obviously previously frozen. Reminiscent of high school cafeteria french fries. They also didn't give you very many... (WTF you can't lose money on potatoes ...why so stingy?) All in all, horrible service and attention to detail. Food was disappointing. Get your act together! You're supposed to be fine dining! To sum it up: Pretentious atmosphere, bad service and sub par food. Way too pricey for what you actually get. Save yourself some time: for a fine dining experience just go to Gegis, Lai Thai or even Botticelli's. read more

I have eaten here twice. The first time as a guest of a local company and I was impressed with the appetizers not so with my filet. I didn't have to pay but felt the food was good enough to give it a try again. Last night I went back with a coworker and ordered the small a prime rib which was perfect and order what I thought was a small side order of crab legs. When we got the meal the crab leg was halved and cut in halves and was tasty. Now the rub each crab leg cost $35 dollars. This s was an incredible rip off. I would have thought 12-15 dollars would have been fair but this is ridiculous. I will never eat here again! read more

Came here for the first time last summer on a date! I've been sold ever since. One of the only places I can take a client or family member to and not be embarrassed by the service or quality of food. Been here several times in the past year when I am in town and have had a great experience every time. Prime rib is the way to go, or one of their steaks. Sadly, we weren't impressed with any dining options in Casper, on a recent trip. Sorry, Casper. Silver Fox topped the list of the "better" places we dined. Mostly because they delivered what we expected from a Wyoming restaurant: big 'ol plate 'o meat. Aside from that, lackluster. We ordered the slow roasted prime rib with a side of mashed sweet potatoes and a special of brisket and ribs with a side of potatoes and veggies. The meat portions were huge, the mashed sweet was generous, the veggie and potato sides were small and sad. We found all the meats to be very filling but extremely underwhelming. Cooked correctly, but lacking that pop and are very unmemorable. The atmosphere was a bit dated, but comfortable, with dim lighting, conducive to a relaxing, lingering dinner and conversation. Service was laid back and unobtrusive. We will give Silver Fox another go on our next Casper visit, since it did outshine the other restaurants we tried. read more

If you're a meat and potatoes kind of person, then this is the place to get a super high quality quintessential Wyoming meal. I suppose you can take your vegetarian friend with you as I did see a cauliflower "steak" on the menu, but they'd be missing out by forgoing a carnivorous meal! I loved that this restaurant has a fine dining side as well as a sports bar, and while the parking lot was packed, there was immediate seating at 7 pm on Saturday night. As we were coming in from a day on the river and still in our fishing clothes, we open for the sports bar where the atmosphere was lively, and TVs had all the baseball and college football we could want. We were chilly from the day's adventures, but the onion soup was the perfect way to warm up! Because it was my boyfriend's birthday, we went big- the calamari appetizer was super good, the steaks incredible (I had the ribeye and he had the blackened prime rib), and they didn't let us leave without some birthday mud pie! All of this plus a drink each, and the bill was only $100! You can't get a steak dinner of this quality anywhere for that price! Wow! I was not expecting perfection after reading some of the other reviews. What an awesome surprise! I was seated immediately. Nice quiet intimate atmosphere but comfortable in jeans and t-shirt. I ordered (not usually) Escargot, French Onion Soup, and Prime Rib. And it came with a salad. Everything was perfect and soooo good! The Escargot did not come in shells but a dish covered in a flaky buttery crust and was without a doubt the best ever. I did not care especially for the French onion soup as it was a little to sweet and did not have enough gruyere cheese for me. They have excellent ranch dressing too. The Prime Rib was top notch. Not sure what the one star reviews were talking about. This place was great. Great food and drink. Ambiance was older steakhouse feel, which is what they are aiming for I hope. I had the filet. It was pretty good, not the best I've had, but I'm pretty fancy so they had a high bar to hit and it was top third for sure. Now desert was awesome. The mud pie must have been a pound or two and it tasted great! Only thing I really can't give this place a five star for is our server was good but not excellent, maybe he needed a red bull or coffee, he was really good, just no pep in his step. read more

Here I am in Casper, Wyoming! Being I arrived today. 4/4/15 my friends Shirley & Bob picked me up from the Airport and then went back to their house to freshin up. They had made dinner reservations for the three of us for 6:30pm. It was fairly crowded when we arrived. I felt a little out of place, don't ask me why. Couldn't put my finger on it. We had a cocktail before dinner (I had a beer) and bread & butter was served immediately. We ordered Apps and this is when it got real interesting. One of our Apps was called Tied Bacon Knots, it's thick Bacon, tied in a knot, sprinkled with brown sugar & roasted to crunchy. It was DELICIOUS! I couldn't get enough of those crazy knots! Then our second App was Fried Green Tomatoes. Literally. I didn't care for them at all but my friends devoured them. For my main I had a dish called Chicken Duxelle, it was with white wine sauce & mushrooms served over rice. It was very, very good! They served huge portions. My friends both ordered NY Steak dinners with potatoes au gratin. They loved their meals. I passed on the house salad that came with my dinner, I had too many bacon knots. Lol. For dessert, Shirley & I shared a Chocolate Lava Cake w/vanilla ice cream. That almost put me in a food coma. Great service, even though it was crowded it wasn't really loud (like I'm used to). Our waiter seemed puzzled when my friends told him I was visiting from San Francisco. He commented to me 'Why would you live there" my response, I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO!!!! Think I'm going to sleep now.
