At least the fries are good.... Alright let's dive into this. Walked in nice atmosphere, feels exactly how you'd want a diner to feel, the bar is very nice looking. The booths had a lot of space and there's also tables with chairs. We sit down, everything on the menu is calling, the hostess and waitress were very professional. My wife ask the waitress, "do you guys have sweet tea here?". The waitress reply's,"yes". I'm like yup I'm getting that also. After combing through the menu the tea shows up, -_-. Just disappointing. Sent the tea back ordered water. Alright back to the food, I ordered the meatloaf, my wife ordered the burger,medium well, one daughter the crab cakes the other chicken tenders and fries, at this point in her life she's a chicken tender expert. Surprise, surprise I didn't read that my meatloaf comes with a soup or salad, chili falls under soups of course so I get a bowl of that. It wasn't bad, it was veggie chili. Alright on to my meatloaf tasty not the best but not the worst either. The crab cakes are good, but if you looking for lumps of crab meat you won't find it here. The "medium well" burger was medium raw, so I'd recommend you ask for well done, you might get medium-_-. And finally to the tenders, the chicken tender professional took one bite and passed on them. I love this place. The food is great. The customer service is also outstanding. I had a very minor issue with my meal one day and the manager did all that he could to make it right. Food was good but the service was beyond slow. Our waitress came and got our drink orders then disappeared for 45mins before coming back to even get our starters or even checking in on our table. After placing our orders, it took another 45mins to get our food, which another wait staff brought out to us, and some items were still missing which took extra 15mins to get. Mind you, during this time, we were watching our original waitress catering to other tables that came in after us and these other tables had gotten their meals even though they came in 10-15min after us. Ordered the just egg benedict and a mango mimosa. That mimosa was strong! Lol but it was good. I wish the vegan eggs benedict was easier to eat, cutting the bread is difficult because it's so tough and eating it with your hands gets kinda messy so that part wasn't so great but it was still delicious. I used to go to the Greenbelt location and was excited when they opened in Columbia. Tonight I ordered DoorDash and it was so disappointing. It was $50 for a turkey platter and cheese steak. The cheese steak was way too salty, which my husband NEVER says. My platter was cold, mushy and missing the cranberry sauce.There was about 4 bites of mashed potatoes. I wanted to support a small business and give us a break from cooking...won't be making that mistake again! read more

Six of us arrived just around 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. We were seated quickly in a corner area that accommodated my wheelchair - but three of us were blinded (literally) for the duration of our meal as the sun as it slowly set - shining in at an angle that was too bright for us to look at other folks across the table. I imagine this is pretty much a daily occurrence. This is a new Silver Diner - so hoping they realize this and add some shade screens or better blinds for the windows on this side of the restaurant. Also, it was pretty noisy, even over in the corner - making it hard to chat with others around the table. Our waitress was pleasant, but not super attentive. She took drink orders from half the table and walked away, apparently forgetting others were still ordering. Also - one of the food items ordered arrived 15-20 minutes after all the other food - ironically, this was scrambled eggs that didn't come with the toast - wow - how does that happen? The food itself was great. Healthy options. Well-cooked and flavored. At our table, we enjoyed the avocado toast, the tangier cauliflower (excellent), the grilled salmon dinner with fresh veggies, the roasted veggie ciabatta, and the fish tacos (delicious! and they came with a great pineapple and strawberry and greens side salad). Everything was great. And when those scrambled eggs did finally arrive (after third request and most of the other items nearly finished) - they, too, were tasty and well-cooked. I stopped by for a late night piece of pie and coffee. It was around 11 o'clock this past Saturday night. It took about 20 minutes to get an order of sweet potato fries and a slice of apple pie from my waitress who seem more distracted by cleaning up than waiting on me. I had to ask her if the fries were ready and they were sitting in the window..., so not really impressed with the waitress with red hair. it shouldn't take 20 minutes when there's only two couples in the whole restaurant to get an order of fries.... also, the apple pie, although it was Supposedky made daily with fresh apples......was not great I . would say average at best... Very small selection of desserts, chocolate cake, smith Island cake chocolate cake and apple pie look like about all they had which surprises me for a diner. Most diners have a ton of desserts including a lot of pies which is why we went there in the first place. My girlfriend was with me and she's a vegetarian and there looks like a lot of vegetarian options which we didn't have since it was late night. But may go back to try. I hesitate to go back because the prices for the omelettes were $13.50/ea for an omelette which is on the ridiculous Side of pricing. I also noticed that the shakes that they prepare for seven dollars which is also extremely expensive. I think they need to review their pricing and ask if they really expect for people in this market to pay those kind of prices and keep their doors open. I think when restaurants come to Columbia they think they can charge Bethesda Maryland or Washington DC prices and when they do people just don't go back to those restaurants very often or for very long. I don't think an omelette should be more than 7 to 8 dollars which is why I hesitate to go back... Just my opinion.... read more

I had such a great experience at Silver Diner. The service was prompt and Melissa was a very nice waitress. PLEASE get the Brussels sprouts they were the star of the show BY FAR and only $5 for a weekday happy hour deal. We got the shrimp and watermelon salad, Greek salad, tomato and mozzarella sandwich with sweet potato fries, and the cauliflower sandwich, and a brownie sundae for dessert. All were delicious options and the restaurant wasn't crowded either, so that was good. I've never been here but I will most definitely be returning!!! read more

Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Service is typically quick. On a busy morning, they have you line up and you get seated as you get to the front of the line. Pretty smart way to get people in faster. The food is local and organic. Heck, even the ketchup is organic! My first visit to the new Silver Diner in Elkridge. A friend and I had lunch today. Very fine experience and meal. Staff is friendly and helpful, restaurant is clean and comfortable. Background music consists of memory lane oldies at s pleasant volume and enhanced our experience. I had the grilled salmon and it was delicious. Tender and moist with a very pleasant flavor. Veggies were okay but appeared to be from a frozen package variety. Not over cooked, however and with a buttery taste that was very good. Brown rice with edamame was very good and a welcome addition to the meal. My friend had a three egg ham and cheese omelet which he raved about. He also loved the biscuit which came with the meal but wasn't high on the home fries, saying they were "too hard." Overall a good experience. We will likely return again in the future. read more

I have went to this location twice. Both times were breakfast. I got the Avocado Toast with Salmon (both times). It's soo good! I recommend it completely! For me I can't finish it all. Plus I get the Carolina shrimp quesadilla. Amazing Amazing! If I love something I will order it over and over again. The only reason I am putting 4 stars is the line gets quite long in the morning and on weekends. And the second time, I came the food took longer then usual. The food came out fantastic though! I would recommend calling before hand if it's busy and try to come earlier in the morning as possible so you don't wait in a 15-20+ lines. read more

My granddaughter chose the diner for her 7th birthday dinner. So her brother & I accompanied her. She had the best time. Our server, Carolyn, was so pleasant & treated my granddaughter as a VIP. She arranged a group "Happy Birthday" song that included my grandson, who's birthday was two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I think the shake was a little too much for our little girl & before I could get out of the parking lot she threw up on her brother & all over the backseat of her Nana's car. I ran back inside the diner & told Carolyn what happened. She ran to the back, grabbed a trash bag for me. She then wet and soaped up a bunch of heavy duty paper towels. She also gave me a number of dry towels. If it had not been for Carolyn, I'm sure my car would have been a awful mess by the time I got the children home. I called and spoke with Melissa and explained - she was so gracious to have a Dasher return to replace both meals, and even called to provide an update! I'm not really a diner-fare fan but I love this location. Silver Diner has wonderful service and quality food at a reasonable price. The meat and produce brands are the exact same I buy at Whole Foods. I haven't loved everything I ordered (cheesesteak was not good) but the breakfast items are a hit. *We went for their soft lunch opening so our food was comped. We love Silver Diner. We used to go to the one in Tysons Corner often as the menu offers a little something for everyone! Their food is very clean and fresh and a lot of it is local which is so awesome. Much of it is also organic. Today we had a kids turkey platter which my kiddo loved, I had a Lamb Gyro which was their take on a Greek classic. It was different but really good! And for dessert we had the Churro Waffle which was AMAZING. The kids dishes are great because it is something different than the standard grilled cheese, burger, PBJ, kids menus. They have mini versions of the adult dishes that are kid friendly and mine loved it! Service was great though they're still working out a few kinks I think. The biggest thing was that I felt like a lot of the management came to talk to the older customers around me to ask their opinion and chat with them and avoided the young woman with the baby (me). I happen to love the place as it is a great place to take my traditional parents and in-laws and find something that they like as well as more interesting and "millennial" food that I like (new spins on classic dishes and local ingredients). But the hostesses were wonderful, my server was great and we will be back! (Also two grumpy old men at the front door didn't understand why they couldn't eat without a ticket/reservation for the soft opening and gave the poor young woman at the door a hard time saying they'll never be back. I am a huge Silver Diner fan and think highly of their food. But this location is terrible. My husband and I went there on opening week and the food was dry and just didn't do it for us..we thought well, they're a brand new location so we'll cut them some slack. We went again this week and unfortunately nothing has changed. First off, here was a long wait, even though there were many booths available--i assume they didn't have enough staff. My husband had the cheesesteak and I had the Reuben--both were so dry; the fries were the only good part of the meal. I give Silver Diner Three stars because I know they have some great meals, and possibly different chefs on duty at different times. But the Pickle Chicken Sandwich I ordered via DoorDash last night was absolutely horrible! Based on this sandwich alone I give you a half star. I opened the box containing the sandwich and sweet potato fries quickly due to my hunger (I hadn't eaten much all day). I imagined a brioche style sandwich with thick crispy chicken, mayonnaise and lots of crunchy pickles which adds that required acid to a tasty delicious meal. I took a bite without examining the inside, expecting to taste the wonderful crunchy like first bite you experience eating a Popeye's style fried chicken sandwich. Much to my disappointment, I was immediately cast into a state of food disappointment shock, tasting a stale bun, dry inside, but mushy outside chicken tenders that I had to run to the waste basket, gaging all the way, before spitting that horrible mouthful out into the garbage. The best way to describe it was something I experienced as a college freshman finding last night's remaining microwave nuggets on the counter in the dorm's kitchenette and stuffing that mushy mess in some bread and eating it because it was either that or instant noodles again. Anyway, I opened the bun to to see what looked like microwaved frozen chicken fingers stuffed into a day old bun with one dime-sized pickle that still hung on desperately to stay inside the bun, and no mayo. It was as if the chef (if you want to call him that) had a personal vendetta against me and decided to torture me with this mess! To the cook or chef...do you really think this is something you would want to serve to your family? If so, then you need to find another line of work. read more

The wait was only 15 minutes during the busy lunchtime period. Once seated our waitress came to take our drink order which was basic enough to detail. She later came back and took our orders and was kind enough to let us know that our shrimp quesadilla would come out at the same time as our entree due to the time of day. We still ordered them. I ordered fried fish tacos with flounder fish based on her recommendation ( I originally ordered grilled). My partner ordered the smokehouse burger. Upon receipt of our food, we tried the shrimp quesadilla first and were blown away by the flavor profile. I loved the big bites of shrimp and sausage. The dips of guacamole and sour cream really hit the spot. However, my fried flounder fish tacos were less than stellar. They were undercooked and flavorless (even with salt). The option of the fish tacos is a consensus of my partner and i. It was a total disappointment. In regards to the smokehouse burger. I did not try it but my parter enjoyed his burger. The accompanying fries were too salty towards the bottom of the dish. But, who can deny thin cut fries? Not even me. In short, I enjoyed my experience with Silver Diner in Eldridge, MD. The wait was not too bad. The appetizer was wonderful but the entrees needed a little more flare to be considered above average. Impressed with how this MD staple is helping deal with COVID-19- seating tables 6ft apart, 3 part air filtration system. The food never disappoints at Silver Silver. We are Celiac and we're thrilled to find a lovely array of food options. There were even vegan options, as well. What was most impressive about this branch of the franchise was the employees. Very friendly, there were definitely regular customers there. All employees helped maintain the customer traffic pattern to flatten the COVID curve, exceptionally clean tables.
