Not crazy about silver diner. Though the setting is authentic, the cuisine is less "diner"'than "cafe". Traditional diner food is supplanted by "healthy" choices in smoothies snd other menu choices. The dishes strive for Originality over comfort. No comfort foods on this menu! Overall I left feeling less satisfied than my typical diner experience read more

It's typical diner fare with some delicious new options. The wait at the door winds you around a turnstile and it's does faster than you think it will. But there's no list to write you name and come back later. You have to actually wait in line. Once your seated, I found the booths to be strangely high. I'm a tall person and I felt like a little kid sitting in the booth! The food was good and service was ok. It was a busy day so it was a bit slow. read more

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. Two evenings ago, upon my cousin's recommendation, I picked up the Shrimp Scampi and the Summer Cod entrees and they were absolutely delicious. My wife, daughter and I devoured the food and enjoyed them so much. First time we've ever tried the Silver Diner, so we were pretty happy about it. So yesterday for dinner, I wanted to try other dishes on the menu. This time I called ahead. I ordered the short rib burger, the fried shrimp entree for my daughter and the shrimp and grits. Unfortunately, they said that it was only available until 4 pm so that was our first disappointment. I'm not a chef, but I just don't understand how difficult it is to make shrimp and grits after 4 pm? So Instead, we ordered the meatloaf. OH MY GOD, was it salty! I think the chef must have accidentally spilled a whole salt shaker into the meatloaf mixed. I prefer salty foods than sweet but this was ridiculously salty. We tried to eat as much as we could and this morning we woke up with puffy eyes because of all the salt! The short ribs on the burger were delicious, cooked just right and melted like butter in our mouthes. The burger patty was raw inside! I ordered medium Well but got rare. Either the order taker did not pay attention, or the chef did not read the order properly. I also ask for no RAW ONIONS or Scallions in all our foods but that we DO LIKE the fried onions toppings on the meatloaf dish and the burger. I probably should have checked my order before leaving but they did not put the fried onion topping, which was quite disappointing. The fried shrimp was very good although the portion was very small. It should have been listed and priced as an appetizer rather an entree. There are quite a few more dishes that we saw on the menu that we would like to try. I think I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them one more try. I really hope we are not disappointed again! If the next try is no good, then we are not ever going back there again! read more

If you like Silver diner this is always a good option for a quick meal. It is one of my favorite spots to come for breakfast while I am at work since it is conveniently located in Columbia we are my offices. They have a small bar so we can mix basic drinks for you. Every time I come there's never been too long of a wait. The staff is usually friendly and attentive to your needs. The food while nothing fancy is usually pretty good. I have never come any other time other than breakfast and I only order off of the breakfast menu. Would like to try out their lunch some day to see if it is as good. read more

My server Kesha was DA TRUTH!! #welcoming #attentive and breakfast was tasty! I had the oat milk pancakes with sausage links and oj. The texture and flavor of the pancakes was AMAZING!! I didn't like the pistachios in the batter; bad choice on the chef's part..but I enjoyed some QT all to myself and breakfast at the Elkridge location Friday morning, 2/24. read more

Safety First! Silver Diner is open for dining room seating, with some new safety measures. They have out plexiglass between all the tables and still a gap between tables and booths. The staff has been certified on health procedures and it feels clean and safe. The food is delicious and fast as always! read more

Food was very good. I often get the steak frites, and they're usually good (one of the three steak medallions came out medium well instead of medium rare, but otherwise good). The garlic spinach was especially good today. And our server, Lauryn, was friendly and accommodating! read more

Couple of issues - This diner is half baked. Closes at 11PM and opens at 7AM. Then I was eating my pot pie at the bar and the owner started talking politics. He couldn't stop talking about how Trump got railroaded and how he detests liberal Biden followers. I was astonished. Rule number one is don't politics! read more

Okay, I am giving up my hidden gem. I feel this location does not get the credit they deserve. When I tell you I LOVE this place, I mean every word. (I hope in the future they don't let me down). This is my go-to spot for breakfast. I always get the lumberjack breakfast combination, which includes mini pancakes, eggs, 2 meat selection, and home fries. Apologies, I don't have photos to include because I'm usually so hungry I'm about to bite my fingers off, so I need to take out that lack of energy on my meal. (Inserts smile) So, let me tell you why I love this location. Each time I set back and observe the staff, down to management. What I love is the cohesiveness of each employee. Every employee knows their role in achieving the goal - serving the customer. They work so hard to provide quality service. Let's talk about the bathroom, which is always clean when I go. They have a sign-in board of who checked the facility hourly. Love this! I'm all about cleanliness. I would like to give a HUGE shoutout to the (sorry I forgot his name) black manager with glasses, I believe he has an African background. He - is - awesome! There has never been a time I have not seen him helping his employees. He helps them so much that he took my order AND served me during my last visit. Talk about getting your hands wet! I hope this review is seen by higher management for this location. These individuals deserve a bonus. This is an absolute honest review. read more

Silver Diner - The guys at the silver diner. - New American Near Me - Elkridge, Maryland

Really disappointed with the quality of the food yesterday afternoon. The silver dollar pancakes my son ordered were microwaved (arrived stuck together and chewy). Not exactly indicative of an establishment that cares about the quality of the food. The ultimate grilled cheese was toast with unmelted cheese and a cold tomato slice. The sweet potato fries were over cooked (some were black). I could go on. This doesn't happen if you care about what you're serving. Do better. The server was nice so that was the only positive aspect of our visit. read more

i have never been to silver diner but my family has a while ago so we know somewhat what to expect but we were all surprised with the menu changes. there are more lunch and dinner options with a variety of options for each veggie and non veggie we ordered the buttermilk pancakes with homestyle potatoes and a lunch share of a garden salad and a mozzarella and pesto sandwich. the garden salad was better than expected and the panini was decent. the buttermilk pancakes were good and the potatoes seasoned well overall pleasant experience at silver diner read more

Lived in the area for almost two years before trying Silver Diner. I was judging a book by its cover, I assumed it was another establishment like iHop or Waffle House. Silver Diner - My son loves their food and mirrors lol - New American Near Me - Elkridge, Maryland

Silver diner is a chain that I got introduced to when I moved to the area. Their menu is quite unique and tries to put a healthier spin on traditional diner food which we all know is delicious (especially when drunk or hungover), but can also leave you feeling like a lead weight. They do their level best to get food that is locally sourced as well so that is great for Maryland and for food costs. The place is always clean and they really went eggs to the walls in trying to counter the whole COVID thing with air filtration etc. It's open until midnight so if you are in need of an after hours place this is certainly a good option. They have a lot to offer including adult beverages. Milk shakes are very tasty but a little pricey. Portion sizing is descent and the service is generally very polite and quick. I will say that due to the cut backs and people not wanting to be out working they tend to be understaffed. This is an almost everywhere problem right now. The downside is, as with most diners, the food can be varying degrees of cooked based on how quick they are trying to turn tables. I've had stuff cooked just right, undercooked, and overcooked. Price to plate comparison isn't hateful. An above average diner with slightly above average food. Every place has their hidden gems. Come in and find yours. read more

The service was very good, but I can not say the same for the food. I ordered my food to carry out. I waited approximately 15 minutes, which was reasonable, no problem. I ordered a build a burger (a grilled chicken sandwich). The chicken was dry and overcooked, the bun was soggy, and the fries were cold. They offered a paltry number of limp sliced pickles on the side. I was starving, so I ate it, but I was greatly disappointed. I feel like I received little value for the price (and I included a tip). Will have to pass on this location going forward. read more

If you're Muslim and only eat zabiha, this is our dream! American burgers that we can eat! Just be careful as not all the meat is zabiha (make sure to ask!) The chicken pot pie is not zabiha! If you're vegetarian, then you'll be happy to know that they have some great vegetarian options as well! The service here is good, no real complaints. Most of the staff are friendly, I've never really had a bad experience tbh! Been in here so many times and will keep coming back! read more

Literally drive past here all the time but never thought to stop in here for food. When I think of diner I think of Denny's or ihop. A friend from out of town recommended here for lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I didn't pay much attention to the interior of the restaurant but looks like a regular diner. I ordered the avocado toast which I always think the bread is supposed to be toasted and the avocado just makes it soggy. The seasoning was good. I'm not a fan of Brussel sprouts so I didn't try that but the salmon was amazing! I ordered the chicken piccata, I wish the chicken wasn't so skinny but it was on the 600 and under menu. The grains that already came with it and the lemon sauce was my favorite part of the meal. If I come back I'll try the cod, I was told it was a popular choice. read more

We went to the Silver Diner on a Thursday night around 5:45pm and beat the rush. The ambiance was nice, a sort of eclectic but good music playlist, the place was clean and quiet. Service was excellent! Our waiter, Deshawn, was prompt, friendly, informative, attentive, and very professional. It was a pleasure having him serve our meal. I had the Kickin Crab Corn Chowder along with six of the fried shrimp and it was delicious. Just what I wanted. My wife had the Triple Pickle Chicken Sandwich which was also very good. Will return for sure! read more

I really hope they get their service act together, because while the food was delicious but the service left a bad taste. Familiar with Silver Diner's Greenbelt location, I love their the unique menu with bold ingredient pairings and a focus on freshness. I've never been disappointed in the quality of the food, which still stands after this visit, as the food is fresh, yummy, and well proportioned. Our experience with this visit however was disappointing because, while yummy, our plates were missing a lot of ingredients. The short story: A cheese omelette that had no cheese. My quinoa coconut pancakes had no blueberries or pecans. Our country scrambler had no home fries. I would have been more upset, but I said when we were waiting, "$5 says our order is all wrong". I was very very hungry, and when we had initial service issues, we didn't have the effort to drive somewhere else, so we still stayed and ordered. Longer Version: Upon entering, we were quickly seated and ordered drinks. I ordered water no lemon, received water with multiple lemons-not a big deal. Then our waiter went MIA; while looking around for a manager to ask for a new waiter, we discovered 2 tables were already meeting with the manager for some issues. After ordering with a new waiter, trying his best, out food came out..only to discover the incorrect-ness of it all. Before we could tell him what was wrong-asking for corrections....he went MIA. We didn't mind eating it despite the errors, we just wanted to make sure we were charged for the side items or dishes that didn't match. But we couldn't find the manager by the end to request this. I know the manager was running around a lot. I hope internally they realized it was a mess and hold some training. I'll give it a few months and try again. read more

Okay I made sure to visit this new location on two separate times; once during peak weekend breakfast hours and once during the middle of the week well after peak breakfast hours. Summary: The new location is much larger and of course more modern and updated over the prior location in Laurel. Pluses: The food is fresh and delicious and well proportioned The farm to table concept is a nice touch. Great service! Minuses: Its a popular place! No reservations so expect a slight wait on weekends read more

The silver diner always provides a good food experience and more often than not...good service as well. The last time we went was probably the worst since our waiter disappeared and was no where to be found for a good 15 - 20 minutes while we waited for our check but the food was good. I have gone here with my little sister to satisfy her vegan diet while also having plenty of options for myself. All the vegan food we tried, was pretty yummy and I probably would order some of it for myself. My ultimate favorite is the hibiscus soy shake...I still think about it and want one each time I go. One of the last times I went, I ordered the pickle-brined chicken and waffles. It was interesting....VERY VERY pickle tasting, which turned me off but I think with an adjustment to the brine it could be a sure winner. We have tried the country scrambler and it was a good portion that definitely was filling. I have started to order a biscuit each time I go for breakfast food and while its nothing extremely special, it just hits the spot. Overall, the silver diner is a nice choice to satisfy everyone in the party. I just wish the breakfast menu was a little more extensive! read more

I love this place for their gluten free and vegan options!! The food could use some improvement, but it's a reliable and consistent place.

My wife and I had some running around to do the day before thanksgiving and decided to have a mid-day breakfast at the Silver Diner in Columbia. We were greeted by Cynthia (the hostess) and fell into a conversation on music, Santana and Sting. We were seated and the wait staff was very attentive. The food was excellent especially the waffles. We will make the Silver Diner a regular stop when we are in the neighborhood. read more

I haven't been to a Silver Diner in about 4 years, and a lot has changed since. They now have like 13 vegan options (can't remember the exact number, but it was either 13 or 16) and I was blown away! Actually quite overwhelmed because I'm not used to having so many options to choose from. I opted for the tofu and lentils because the photo of it looked so good, and it was presented exactly how the photo was! It's not often that your food ends up looking like the photos. I felt like I was eating at a 5-star restaurant with how upscale their vegan options sounded. But it's so strange to see this all in a diner. Definitely one of the best diners I've ever been to, because no other diner I've heard of has tried to branch out of the "diner"-type menu. This place has it all, but still has that diner feel to it. So for the owner of this chain to come up with this, I think he/she is genius. The food I ordered was just as good as I'd hoped it would be. The only thing is that it is not very filling, so if you're a huge eater like me, you definitely need to order an appetizer as well. My co-worker and I got the cheese fries as an appetizer (I'm a vegetarian, not a vegan) and while they weren't the most amazing fries I've had, they were still pretty good. I like nacho cheese, not really the melted-type cheese because it gets hard so quickly. While this was the melted-type cheese, it also wasn't hard like I've experienced with other restaurants, so that made it better. I can't wait to go here again and try all the other vegan options! read more

This was our first time visiting SD, I heard about it from a Co-Worker. The place was full house upon entering, I thought we might have to wait, but we were immediately seated. Our Waiter Jason Ha came right over, he was very friendly and chatted with us for a while before ordering. They have a semi-healthy menu with a lot of vegan options. Everything was tasty and came out fast. Jason often checked on us and refilled our drinks promptly. I will definitely be return in the future. read more

Came here for the first time a couple days ago with a friend. We were looking for a classic American diner breakfast. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Bacon and sausage were burnt. Sausage was chewy. Food was very oily as well. I did however like the home fries and the pancakes. Not enough food for the price as well. The diner was clean and presentable. If we go again we should probably try something off the lunch menu. read more

My first visit to Silver Diner was at the Greenbelt Location with a group of friends who found out that the diner serves meat sourced from Creekstone Farms - a local supplier who is recognized for supplying zabihah/halal meat. We rarely have the opportunity to eat from authentic American establishments that offer halal meat, so this was pretty great news. In short, the burgers and food did not let us down. The wait at the Greenbelt location around 5 PM was quite lengthy. The wait at the Columbia location at 10 AM on a Sunday morning is around 30-45 mins (but that's for a group of 11 people). Food Ordered: (10/10) Beef burger with Sambal glaze, American cheese, caramelized onions, cremini mushrooms and jalapeños. Banana stuffed French toast. Coffee. Nutella banana milkshake. Wait: (9/10) The place was completely packed and our wait was only 30 minutes for 11 people. Normally larger groups have an extremely long wait time as they have to wait for multiple parties to leave in order to accommodate one large group, however that didn't stop this branch from figuring out a way from expeditiously seating us without being split up. Service: (10/10) Our waitress was extremely kind and helpful and accommodating. We were initially split between a large booth and a neighboring table, however our waitress asked us to wait a few monkeys while she attempted to clear us regular tables to push together in order to avoid being split up. The tables food took about 15-20 minutes to come out, which is a fair amount of time for a lot of entrees. Bathrooms: Didn't visit. Atmosphere: (10/10) Rather busy, but the staff seemed to have a wonderful handle on making sure that the place wasn't hectic. When a restaurant is over crowded, customers tend to have longer wait times in terms of receiving service, waiting for food to be placed on the table, etc. I didn't experience any form of delay, so I'm rather impressed by that. Parking: (9/10) The diner has its own parking lot, which was entirely packed. But since the restaurant is located within a shopping center, it's easy enough to park across of the restaurant and just walk over. Overall Visit: (10/10) I was extremely satisfied with this locations food and service. I've visited the Columbia diner on 3 separate occasions now and have yet to be let down. *The place was packed and I saw Mr. Greg Holson (mentioned to be an operating partner on their website) grabbing dirty dishes off of tables. Seeing someone of his ranking willing to get down and dirty in order to ensure that things operate smoothly is always a good sign to me. read more
