Posting for a friend who doesn't have social media (I personally haven't done any business with Silver City). It's been a nightmare dealing with Silver City. They were assigned by USAA to restore his house after the July monsoon flooding. SC came out early in August and tested ceiling for asbestos, and even removed the popcorn ceiling, exposing the interior roof. About a month later, they came back to test the flooring for asbestos (why couldn't SC test the floor and ceiling at the same time?) and removed some of the damaged carpet. It's now October, and my friend called and left several messages and never heard back, so he drove to visit SC's office personally to complain about about why there's no communication from them. My friend was told SC will reassign his case to a different project mgr. Finally around Thanksgiving, my friend gets a call giving him a move out date to a nearby hotel so SC could work on his house, and was told the repairs would be done around the first week of January. SC packed up his house and moved the rest of his personal possessions into a huge storage unit located on his driveway, removed the old carpet, scraped and removed the asbestos laden popcorn ceiling off and covered the exposed area with plastic, and put plastic around his big screen tv and refrigerator, and removed the oven and dishwasher and moved it into his garage, as well as took out his toilets. In December, my friend is spending the holidays staying at a nearby hotel. But no work is being performed on his house. Maybe because it's the holidays, SC decided to take the holidays off. Shortly after the new year, SC finally calls my friend after not communicating with him since he moved to the hotel, to tell him he'll call him in a few days w/ an update. A few days goes by but SC never called him back. Just last Thursday the adjustor from USAA called my friend to ask his permission to fire SC because apparently USAA tried to reach out to SC several times also and left several messages, and SC didn't return USAA's calls either. So USAA said they're done dealing with SC and assigned a new restoration company to fix his house. And now my friend has to start the wait all over again. The USAA adjustor is well aware that my friend has been living in a hotel since Thanksgiving weekend and couldn't be more apologetic for all the delays and no communication and (almost) no work done by SC. I just hope SC doesn't keep my friends possessions they put in the storage unit hostage. Read the Yelp reviews here. I notice many positive reviews are at least a couple years ago, so the quality of their customer service has declined during the pandemic. Sure, there are supply chain issues now, however SC's problem is their lack of communication to the customer AND TO USAA. Why USAA still continues to assign SC to their members in spite of the negative reviews here is beyond me. If your insurance company assigns Silver City to be your restoration company, you may want to pass and either ask for a different company, or if you do your research, you may find another company that has better reviews and doesn't blow off their customers. USAA originally trusted SC to repair my friend's house, and then fired them. That should tell you something about the integrity of SC. read more

Horrible company to deal with. Their work is horrible and half asked. If you can get a call back then consider yourself lucky. Our experience with this company has been horrendous. 9 months later and we still don't have a working oven. They fixed our black cabinets with brown. Doesn't even come close to matching our original. They were suppose to paint walls doors and ceilings. They left the paint for us to finish. Don't even waste your time with this company. This is a story sad but true of a company that has very good work but very bad business practices This begins in September of 2021 An estimator is sent to survey damage done by a roof leak due to a Solar installation On this visit, the estimator without authorization attempted to fix an issue The problem as was always suspected was part of a Solar panel installation and not even close to the problem area, again this was not authorized The estimator spent roughly 45 minutes for his activity and arrived late even though it was clearly communicated my sister-in-law worked nights and was asleep, there were 2 guests here, but they wouldn't have authorized; this was presented as a favor - to attempt to stop further leakage Now to current time, on March 16th, 2022 I have resolved my roof issues with Reimagine Roofing - recommended Jim the representative for Silver City comes to inspect the work and close our business and I am presented with 2 invoices, 1 for the ceiling repair and 1 for what i have no idea It came to be that 1 as for the ceiling and 1 the additional charges were for the attempted unauthorized repair which didn't do anything anyway Those charges were 586.46 - during an estimate appointment for insurance purposes this amounts to $13 a minute i will add that if you have any interaction them, they or their representative's do understand payment options using current electronic/computerized systems, like Zoelle or simple BillPay read more

It starts on the top and comes all the way down. Will never have this company in my house please stay away! Jim Cox, was a project manager assign to my job. 1. He was late on the first day and was drunk or had a long night. 2. 3 weeks passed and called up and said "My cabinet guy has been trying to call you and left voice mails. Not true! checked for his number and nothing comes up!! 3. Cabinet guy comes the following week. Removes the temp sink and asked me? has Jim, setup a plumber to install my sink and plumbing lines. So he calls Jim, to check and nothing was setup and he was going to call him back. 6hrs later the cabinet guy once more calls to check on the plumber and nothing. 4. I called Jim Cox, to check on the status of the plumber and starts yelling at me. " No plumber will be here today, tomorrow etc! " Keep in mind he had over a week to plan this out. So we start going at it! and this child hangs up the phone. 5. Called the SCR office and John, manager never called me back to talk about his child acting like a teen. 6. Damaged my oak cabinets and teplaced oak panels with plywood. Cut shelves after I told them not to. Treated me with extreme disrespect. They knew I had just lost my husband and they took advantage of the situation. Charged for work they had not done. I refused to have them in my home to finish the job as they did more damage than good. I had to raise concerns to the insurance adjuster's manager to get honest, reputable people to fix their damages. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. We had a leak in our roof a year and 1/2 ago USAA sent out Silver city. They repaired the roof and the ceiling in the kitchen, in a timely manner. Fast forward to October 5th 2018 after the rain we had i noticed the same area in the kitchen ceiling started to crack. Called USAA they said it's still under warranty with SC so i called them on the 8th, 10th, 15th & 17th with no updates or contact from them. On the morning of the 18th they called and said they will be in 30 mins. I had to leave work and the guy said it was a rookie mistake the guy didn't repair high enough. He said they would contact me about repairing the ceiling. So i started with the phone calls again (as no one ever called us) Called 10/29, 11/5, 11/8, 11/9 on the 9th they gave me the project managers phone number for JIM when i called it wasn't JIM it was another project manager Robert for the east valley. He said he would call me back (never did) I called Robert on 11/13 at 8am And he said he would call me back. He did 2 hours later he called and said he was going to send one of his guys from the east valley even tho it isn't his job. The guy that repaired it was awesome. He said he would be back at 7 am to paint. I waited until 8:30 and then called again. Robert said remember i said it wasn't his area and that he spoke with JIM and he was sending someone. Which he obversely didn't. Robert called JIM and said you need to call us. When i didn't hear anything back i called Robert back and he said Jim was suppose to call me. Robert gave me JIMS number which JIM did not answer. SO PO right NOW...... read more

In Jan.-2015, USAA recommended Silver City to us for a current side roof/skylight leak and bathroom damage issue. After roof/skylight repairs were complete, we decided to upgrade interior bathroom repairs with a new Jacuzzi tub, simulated marble sidewalls, and new toilets in each bathroom(2). Interior upgrades/repairs completed Mar.-2015. Tim B. & Brenda D. were just so professional and a joy to work with. So were all the crew & leads (can't remember all they're names?) We used Silver City again in Jan.-2016 for front of our house roof/skylight leak, including interior damage. Once again we were very happy with the level of quality and professional from all of the same people. They may not be the cheapest, but you can't put a price on good quality and honesty. We would definitely use them for any repair work on our home. read more

If I could give zero stars I would... Silver City (SC) was recommended by USAA and so I hired them to assess and repair damage from a possible roof leak in my guest house as the paint on my wall had started to ripple. The estimator from USAA bid the job to remove most of one wall from ceiling to floor board so that we could determine the source of the leak with the understanding that once the inner wall was opened we could determine what would need to be repaired. The gentleman from silver city was very nice but came and cut out a 6'x4' section of the wall where damage was evident and was about to start replacing it when I asked him where the leak had originated from. He said he had no idea...that he wasn't there to figure that out. I informed him that he was and called SC who said they didn't know what I was talking about so then I called USAA and the next thing I knew they called SC and the gentleman cut a huge area out as he was supposed to initially and told me that there was damage to the wood by the ceiling. I called USAA and let them know and silver city sent an estimator who didn't even get up on a ladder but just looked at the area (ceilings are 14"high). The next thing they set up was that someone came to treat for mold. I asked if anyone was going to assess the wood and the mold treatment guy told me he didn't do that and wasn't there to figure that out. I called USAA again and they stopped the job and had a structural engineer come to the house and assess the situation. Needless to say, there is extensive damage that needs to be repaired and the wood in question was still wet and should never have been treated with anything but rather repaired. SC was only going to put a bandaid on the issue and cover it up rather than fix it. USAA withdrew the bid from them, they were paid for removal of sheet rock only and a different contractor was hired. In addition, they left a window open in the room and left a bunch of construction supplies in my yard. buyer beware! If I hadn't been home and followed up on what they were doing I would never have known the amount of damage that was about to be covered up. read more

Unsatisfied in many ways, although the reps for silvercity seemed very helpful and worked fast in many ways their end job of poor at best. They didn't replace what our insurance (USAA) told them was covered. They reset broken or damaged property then told us we would have to pay out of packet to get what our insurance said should of been replaced. They cut and tore into our carpet then when reset they blamed our dogs for the damage and said they wouldn't replace it. The list goes on and we are still fighting with there company to fix or replace damaged items. They couldn't even reset the damaged cabinets level with one another. End read more

Had similar situation to other person. 80 days in a hotel I finally returned home last week. After feeling pressured into signing release started seeing damages done throughout. The tile guys they hired were the only part of experience that seemed to work out. Jim was hard to work with. He never gave updates or estimates. I had my replacement tile and carpet picked out days after flood, yet took him over a month to order it. (Wrong I might add) I called him to get update and he told me he had just placed order. It was backordered 3 more weeks. This was just the start of a VERY long process. I could write all day. I now am fixing the damages that were caused by this company. Everything required me to bring them back several times. Paint, drywall etc. Still have poorly done job on some parts of drywall. Lots of dings and dents in molding and trim. Chunks taken out of furniture etc. I informed them of damages done to coffee and dining table from move but they don't seem to think it was them. This whole process has been a headache. We had some water damage that occurred after a couple of heavy storms September 2014. Our insurance company called Silver City Restoration and they came to dry out the wall and carpet in my sons room along with the wall and ceiling in the garage. The dry out was the easy part. After a couple of weeks they final came out to look at how much it would cost to fix all the repairs. My first issue came when the estimator Tim, didn't want to give us an estimate on the work that needed to be done until he talked to my insurance company. I called him and eventually got him to email me an estimate. To me it seemed like they wanted to find out how much money we were going to get from our insurance company and then charge us that amount regardless of how much the work would really cost. They kept talking about paying them our 1000$ deductible. My deductible is between my insurance company and me, not this 3rd party that we are hiring to do repairs. My husband signed a release for them to start working. Of course he didn't really read everything. PLEASE READ THE RELEASE! It is crazy! It says that they want to get the money directly from your insurance company, and that you will pay them your deductible! Don't do this; they are trying to ripe you off. Just because your insurance company estimates a certain price doesn't mean it won't be cheaper somewhere else. There was a very big difference in the amount our insurance company gave us and how much the actual estimate from Silver City was. If we didn't get that estimate up front they would have taken it all plus our 1000$ deductible, out of pocket. I ended up calling the company after a couple of weeks because we didn't hear anything about when someone was going to come and fix our walls. I talked to Jim the project manager, who didn't know anything about our job. He is not very pleasant to say the least. He told me it would take a few weeks to get someone out to fix the repairs. There was a cancellation so they were nice enough to schedule us within a week. (This was the only good thing about this experience). At this point the walls were complete (except for paint), and the carpet still needed to be stretched and put together. We decided to cancel the painting portion of the job. Their break down said painting was roughly 400$. I figured we could do this for about 30$, so I called and canceled that portion of the workload. It took a couple more weeks for someone to come out to change out the carpet pad and stretch the carpet back into place. Another week or so goes by and the accounting department calls me so that she can collect the bill. Since they didn't do the painting from the original estimate I assumed they would take off the 400$ and some change that was listed on their breakdown. Apparently their break down isn't correct. The 400+$ listed isn't really all for just paint. The accounting department couldn't explain that to me so I talked to Jim. Jim still didn't give me a good explanation as to why when painting is listed on the break down, is not all painting. So they did not subtract the complete amount that was listed for painting, even though they did not paint at all in our home. He was very rude about it, said if he would have known we weren't going to have the painting done they wouldn't have taken the job in the first place. Because I felt like this company was trying to rip me off and because Jim was so completely rude I called the president of the company, Ken. They give you a list of phone numbers at the beginning of the job, and tell us to call if we have any problems. But Ken did not return my call and it's been several weeks now. I will never do business with them again and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I knew they would be reliable, but was extremely pleased with the excellent customer service from Brenda, the great job oversight and coordination by Dave and the competency and cleanliness of the construction crew. They even delayed the crew for one day to allow me to re-insulate, providing me help and tips on that at no charge. They found several areas of damage I had not seen, went back to USAA for me and got them paid for and repairs. I will never use anyone else for this type work. read more
