I bout an '07 Toyota RAV4 from a woman that carried herself extremely professionally and was open to a friend of mine taking the wheel on the testing process to negotiate to $8,000 usd [twice as much as a friend paid for same vehicle, diff color]. Safe buy. I don't recommend the optional additional warranty "service", though, it's like $2,197 usd extra and I never even got proof of Purchase about it or any information on what I paid for it to cover. The woman that represented the co was much more courteous than the man who owned it, in my opinion (as he sold me the warranty, she sold me the utility SUV). I found it more affordable to supplement with AAA; it more conveniently supplements the needs of your vehicle. As for the vehicle itself, the pre-existing issues were not disclosed to me. Luckily they weren't necessities for it to run. I paid cash, I got no discount for doing so. All in all, I'd recommend the place to someone who knows a thing or two about or is looking for a non-luxury foreign vehicle from the mid 2000's, just before 2010, for a little bit too much money. I was in a bind and needed a particular vehicle that they had in stock. I was even accepting of their low ball trade in allowance they offered me because I didn't have the luxury of being too selective. When discussing my trade-in, the salesman said, "Our guy at Carmax says it's only worth $6500". First, I was already offered $8k by Carmax but they didn't have a suitable vehicle available in time. Second, it only makes Silver look worse to compare yourselves to Carmax or anybody else for that matter. Since it appeared Silver Auto didn't do ANY prep on the vehicle when it came to their dealership, I was told there is paperwork to reflect the maintenance done on the vehicle. Numerous requests for the documentation were ignored by both the salesman Michael and the office manager. Nonetheless, I needed a vehicle now. After a painfully long afternoon of having my intelligence insulted, I finally left with the vehicle I needed. The next day, I received a call from Silver Auto regarding my name misspelled all over all of the documents, thanks to salesman Michael. I was then told that I need to drive all the way back to the dealer (over an hour away) to sign corrected paperwork. This is their error, not mine. I went all the way back to Silver Auto to sign the corrected paperwork. The salesman Michael and the manager didn't even offer to compensate me for the inconvenience that THEY created. I lost hours and income to fix their mistake. No offer of a free oil change or a coupon of any kind. Not to mention that they kept me waiting when I returned even though I called ahead. Zero respect for my time. I've bought well over 50 cars - private sales and dealership sales. This place very quickly made it to the bottom of the list. They simply do not care to treat customers with respect. In the end, I got the vehicle that I wanted but it was so taxing to endure the insults to my intelligence and disrespect. Went to look at a car the car was rusty, and smelled like smoke badly. When I brought it up to the associate, he just shrugged it off and said it's a used car, what do you expect? we went ahead and test drove the car anyway, and it had issues with the tire and the TPM system, which had not been checked properly. it seemed to us that the place did not really care at all to clean or prep the vehicles prior to showing up to the customer. Things like checking tire pressure oil and making sure the car doesn't smell like a horrible ashtray seems like a good place to start. read more

SCAMMERS. I purchased a Mazda cx-5 in September. I pointed out two issues with the vehicle where the rotors where making noise and the check engine light was on. They said that they would have their mechanic check the engine light. After checking they said it was fine and the mechanic didn't see any issues. And the rotors were making noise due to the rust, but it would stop. Now we're in December 3rd and the radio isn't working which they refused to fix, unless it was out of MY pocket. I had to replace all 4 rotors and break pads. And now I have to do a 1,500 dollar repair on the engine. Please don't waste your money here. They lack integrity, shame on you guys. read more

DON'T BUY A 5 YEAR COMMITMENT HERE, Please!!! Need a new engine after 2 years. Oh yeah, that's right!!!! He (left of the front door when you walk in, Rick or something) says the CARFAX is clean no accidents. Obviously, I noticed later the clear signs that the front end and rear has been in an accident confirmed by other mechanics. The Carfax he was standing behind proved absolutely nothing, complete manipulation and I felt like a dummy. f*** all those Carfax or anything like it. This dude blatantly lied to my face without any care in the world like it was natural, without flinching. I really thought this place was good, I really should have stuck with my gut. Warranties don't help me at all because they don't tell you that you need to keep up with oil changes (every 3 months) to keep the warranty valid, also prove those oil changes. But of course it's your fault because you should have read it. What a shity place to buy your first huge purchase from. Now I'm negative $4,000+ and don't know what to do with this piece of crap. Honestly I'm so pissed off that I should have known. All the signs were there. From the salesmen me to finance guy. Just remember they don't care about you, seriously. This week they sold a vehicle out from under us - they told us they would deal with the check engine light and wiper motor, and as soon as that was completed they would have us drive it again and if all was satisfactory we would purchase. We were shopping for a used Mustang, saw one online here. It's a bit of a drive, but the price was right. They have good prices, and the staff are helpful. Be warned they are basically a wholesale operation, they just clean the cars up and list them. They do have no problem with you taking the vehicle to a mechanic for a once over, which is well worth the $50 or so. Just wanted to address that because of some of the complaints here. The car I wound up buying had less than 5,000 miles on it, so it was basically new. Had a great experience, and have recommended them to several friends. read more

I went to test drive a 2017 Dodge Journey I took it to my mechanic where they found a T-stat leak that is leaking fluid under the hood I mean you open the hood and can see the orange stuff sitting there! Along with normal maintenance issues so I took it back there talked via text with a salesman for a few hours. I was offered $300 off the ticket price or a credit for the service department . All I wanted was either the money off the price to have it fixed or that they could fix it in house and just have my mechanic look it over before I signed the papers and then the $300 off they offered earlier! They came back with $300 off and they are not fixing or discounting the price so I can have it fixed! SO BEWARE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VEHICLE HAVE SOMEONE LOOK IT OVER!! I am not stupid I know they have play room with pricing and or should at least fix something that is leaking ! To me they lost a sale over $300 and a problem they could fix in house!! read more

So finding that perfect new/used car is a pretty challenging process. One that most people dread going through. There is a reason for that. It's not just about finding the vehicle you really want, but so much more. You need to consider things the basic things like does it have all the options you want? Is the price right? And will it meet your needs? But then there are other things to consider too like do you know your dealership? Are they fair? Will there be there to support your purchase after you sign the deal? Are they good on there word? With that in mind, I thought I had found that perfect deal. But after giving 3 months of ownership of that perfect vehicle, it isn't to be. First off, Silver Auto Sales had the vehicle I wanted, with all the options at a fairly good price, but now, I've since learned otherwise about how a good a deal it really was. Now, it's not all that bad, they did buy my old car at an acceptable price and help me find the best financing, but they seem a little shifty and not forthcoming, as well as a little cheap. My problems started just 3 days after bring it home. #1. The seat was cheaply repaired. This is a higher end SUV with premium interior leather. (this vehicle was a treat to myself for a lot of hard work) It's a few years old, but no where near old and used up. My seat was patched and painted over with a very low budget repair job. I ended up taking it to a upholstery repair shop and they told me what they did and they it would be several hundreds of dollars to fix it and make it right. #2. Missing things. The owners manual, floor mats, remote control and DVD for the navigation system were all missing. The add showed pictures with some of the items. I think when you spend this kind of money on a vehicle, something like this should have been corrected. #3. The front windshield. The weather stripping along the front windshield popped out. First it was a slow roll peel away. So every time I go on the highway, it flaps like crazy and is very loud. I took this to a auto glass place and they said the windshield was replaced on this and done wrong. It leaks water and eventually could pop out or start to crack. #4. A second key. I was told when I was looking at it that there was a second/spare key. But when I signed on the dotted line, they couldn't find it. They said they would contact so and so and get back to me with it. Again, it's been 3 months. #5. The air conditioner. Its been a hot summer yes, but this AC only sometimes works to cool it down. It makes noises when on and causes the car to run funny too. I again took it in to have it looked at by a authorized service center and they said it was overcharged and will probably break by next summer. I did contact the dealership and the salesman (Marty) as soon as the first problems started, but he was rarely around after the first call. I left voicemails and messages left for him. I did get through to him a couple times (I think I caught him off guard) but as of this date, nothing has been resolved. He told me that he would look into things and get back to me. I even emailed him with the issues. Still no resolution. I did more research after the purchase of the car. I found out where they bought it from. I contacted that dealership. They told me those items missing were with the vehicle when they sold it to Silver Auto Sales. They didn't know about the seat or the windshield though. So not sure who did the shoddy repairs, but either way, Silver should have stood behind these. For them, it's pennies on the dollar to take care of. I'm a little shocked they didn't take care of these things. Especially since when we bought the vehicle, we told them how we read reviews about them first, like this very place called Yelp. He told me he really wanted to make things right because it was there name on the line and he valued reviews. I told him from the beginning I would be fair as long as they were. Well... I would say if you're going to buy a vehicle from this dealership, make sure you do ALL your homework. Make sure you get everything in writing and hold them to anything you have outstanding, before you sign on the dotted line because you probably won't hear from them again and you may be stuck with something less than perfect. NOTE: BTW, please review all these reviews on here. There is something going on that one reviewer pointed out. There are a lot of 5 star reviews, from reviewers that have only reviewed one place, Silver Auto Sales. I hope Yelp can look into that and there isn't something even more fishy going on here. read more

I went with my sister to buy her first car on August 21st. She knows someone who works there so we figured it would be a safe place to buy a car. The sales person was very helpful although he didn't know a lot about cars. We test drove a bunch of cars and they we very patient. My sister ended up liking two cars that were out of her price range.They do not put prices on any of their vehicles. He then suggested one car that was in her price range. We test drove it and noticed the air bag light was on. The guy assured us it was nothing big but we would have to go to the dealer to get it turned off. After reading this other review I am so glad we did not go with that car. We were able to negotiate the price on one of the cars she liked, since we knew someone that worked there (according to the salesman). I still think we overpaid for it, but my sister really needed a car. Less than three weeks later, the car breaks down going north on 57 into the city on a Friday night. Anyone who drives on 57 knows how dangerous this is! The emergency towing system dropped us off in a "safer area" while we waited for the tow truck company. As soon as the tow came (the driver also owns his own shop) he asked what happened and how many miles was on the car. The car made no noises, weird sounds or smells, it just stopped working. He said most likely its the timing belt. He popped the hood and said for sure it the timing belt. The sales person assured us that all cars go through a vehicle inspection. More than one mechanic has told us that a timing belt is something that should have been inspected and any mechanic knows this about a car with 80,000 miles on it. My sister called Silver Auto the next day and since she bought it as-is,they said there is not much they can do about it other than give her a discount on the repair. After some research online about the car, turns out there was a a huge problem with the timing belts on 2004 Chevy Aveos. If the timing belt doesn't get fixed before it breaks it can ruin the whole engine. This repair could end up costing her $1,500 to $2,000! I will be contacting Silver Auto again on Monday. I would be extremely careful if you are buying a car from them. I saw a Subaru Outback online. I went in to see it the car seem like it was in good condition. There were no warning lights lit up on the dash. Took the car for a drive. Noticed a noise. Was told If I decided I wanted to buy the car, I could put down the cost of the repair, they would do the repair and the money would go towards the price of the car. It turned out to be a wheel bearing which they replaced. On my way home, the car was not idling right, and several lights lit up on the dash. They assured me that it was because they had to reset the computer The lights would all go off and the idle would smooth out. plausible. They never did. They told they needed to reset the computer a different way. It was Friday and they wouldn't be open again until Monday so I wouldn't be able to bring the car back until then. While I was driving over the weekend, I realized the brake rotors needed to be replaced. Since I believed it would be my car I replace them. My husband is a mechanic, so he reset the computer since they said that was what was wrong with it, It didn't work. I couldn't get the car over there on Monday so I brought the car back Tuesday. They were unable to do the repair while I waited, so they gave me a loaner. They reset the computer again, told me a loose vacuum hose was the problem, (which I knew was bullshit), but I hoped whatever it was was no longer problem. My husband picked up the car Wednesday, got about a mile from home and all the lights came back on. By then they were closed i called and left them a message and my husband is bringing the car back today. I told them if they can't solve this problem that I want MY car back, my money plus the money for the rotors I replaced, and we'll just part ways. Hopefully, it won't come to that but sometimes you just have to cut your losses and find a more reputable dealer!!! I will update once I resolve this one way or another!!!! Well, I could have just deleted my review, but I really wanted to let everyone know how awesome everyone at Silver Auto worked to make sure that my experience with them was a great one! They took my car in and made sure that everything was working! They have done, and continue to do everything to make sure that I am happy with my purchase! What a great company! I got a 2013 ram 1500 truck ran good looked good in till I got home the next day when I really got under it you could see were they just painted the frame rails to look good but the whole underneath was rusted and the bed fender rails were rusted they just painted so you could not really see it intimate you really looked cv axle was bad and Transfer case had a leak they cover up a big scratch in the back door that now the paint is falling off payed 19000 dollars for a truck that is a rust bucket wish they would have let me know but they just cover it up the best they could I'm 1500 dollars in to a truck fixin all the little things brakes were gone my mechanic did not know how I was even stoping all I can stay is look underneath the best you can befor buying a car from theses people they convinced me to buy brand new from now on thanks guys read more

They sold me a car that hadn't had an oil change in probably 20,000 miles. I had all sorts of transmission issues and it threw engine error codes the day after I bought it (which happened to be a Sunday when they were closed. During the test drive the vehicle performed perfectly). I took it to a transmission specialist and he pulled the oil dipstick and commented how it was the worst oil he has ever seen. I've had shifting issues since. I called Silver and I was told I would be contacted by their head service person but they never called me. Just brushed me under the rug. I live 250miles away and had to limp the vehicle home. I would not buy anything from them unless you have a mechanic look at the vehicle first. What kind of car dealer doesn't change the oil? Now I'm trying to figure out if the whole transmission needs to be replaced. What started out as a good deal on a nice vehicle is turning into a money pit and a purchase that I regret. First I would like to start off this post with a big Thankyou to Zach , and both Mike`s for keep me well entertained while I was sitting in the lobby in limbo for two hours. I called on this car which they had some interest in from a wholesaler , but they said there was no money down to come down and drive it. I made sure to let them know that I was driving an hour plus in city traffic , and they said no problem. Upon arrival Im welcomed back to Silver Auto Sales with open arms. Yes, I'm a repeat customer and once Zac took a photocopy of my license, I was out the door test driving the car all by myself. Made the usual safety and mechanical checks . GREAT CAR !! On my way back to the dealership I contacted my banker and was just waiting for the details on where the money needed to go. Mike was waiting at the door for me when I came back and asked the usual questions. From there he started filling out the paperwork to get the deal done. That is when the experience took a turn for the worse. Mike had gotten up from the desk and was speaking to another salesman. At this point I took a call from my banker , asking again how we are getting this deal done. I told him I was just waiting for the bill of sale and that it would not be much longer. I walked back in to the showroom and sat down and waited and waited and waited. After 43 minutes the GM came out and said he just squeezed the wholesaler and sold the car. So I sat there waiting for 45 minutes buying them time so they can pull the oldest used car salesman trick in the book. That one is gone , but we have another car here for you to look at. All and all Silver Auto Sales used to be a great place to buy a car from. I believe the GM I was talking too was the owner's son. It goes to show why most successful people sell the business on the way out and just give the kids the money. Old story of hard working guy builds a very successful business and the children (Joey the GM ) take it over and run it into the ground. The kicker in the end is he gives me the keys to another car to test drive , inside of the vehicle was disgusting, bird crap on the front window, and the check engine light was blinking. In conclusion , Silver Auto Sales is pretty much exactly what they say it is. A used car dealership now run by a entitled son that is slowly but surely being run into the ground. I would listen to the negative reviews on this place. It is a "wholesale" dealer which means no negotiating. Its a CarMax without the guarantee of a quality car. I bought an '08 Outback. They said they did the oil and gave me a new battery, but the brake light was out, which is a minor thing, but complete lack of detail to a product they wanted to sell. It was little stuff, but the check engine came on AS I DROVE MY NEW CAR HOME, which leads me to believe they "changed the battery" in order to reset the computer to get rid of the CEL. It turns out I have 2mm left on my front and rear brake pads, I need a new catalytic converter, new struts, new tires, new spark plugs (which is no easy task on the Outback), new timing belt, new power steering belt, brake fluid, and new water pump totaling over $4000 in repairs. So now I'm making payments on the car and paying for these repairs. At this point, I could have gotten a new car for the amount I'm paying. Do NOT get their extended warranty service plan either. I called them to file a claim, and they are the most rude, unprofessional, impatient people I have ever met. In addition to this, if you do a google search on that company, it is a very poor company where your claim always gets denied. Successful claims are only partially covered costs of repairs. That company is American Auto Guardian. All in all, avoid this place. Go through a dealer or certified pre-owned. With the warranty, car payment, and now $4k repair bills, I could have afforded a new or certified pre-owned vehicle with a certifiably good vehicle. Again. AVOID. read more

We just purchased a nice car for my daughter. Salesperson was nice and not pushy. Kept telling us how reputable they were and how honest. Well we finally chose a car - we noticed the airbag light was on...we were told not to worry that VW's lights go on all the time and not to worry that the airbag still worked. We noticed that the brakes looked rusty...we were told that it would rub off once we started driving. Lastly we noticed that the electronic clicker to unlock/lock the doors did not work...we were told not to worry that the clicker just needed new batteries. Reality check: Took the car to a VW mechanic...we were told that A) the airbags DO NOT WORK AT ALL when the airbag light is on!!! B) The rotors were put on unevenly and need to be redone. C) The doors not opening with the clicker had nothing to do with no batteries...the electrical system in the doors JUST DID NOT WORK!! We ended up spending $800 to get these SMALL items fixed. When my husband called to tell them about this all they had to say was that we bought the car 'as is'. I totally agree with that IF we had not been lied to about the air bags. That is a huge safety issue...I trusted what Steve told me about the airbag lights. My 17 year old daughter is driving this car...I cannot let her drive until we get this fixed. the same with the power door locks, I could not test them as there were no batteries in the clicker...well there were but we were told they were dead. 1 week later- Ok I want to follow up...my husband finally got ahold of the owner. He was a bit difficult at first telling my husband that we got a good deal and the car was sold 'as is'. But my husband kept on telling him that these issues should have been dealt with at the service facility by his own staff as they were safety issues. FINALLY, he did agree to split the cost with us. So we were reimbursed $400! AND the check came within days..I was VERY IMPRESSED!! And he included a $25 gift certificate to a local eatery. I would definately do business with Silver again...I would just be a little more careful in examining the car. I do trust them and this is a huge thing in this day and age. read more

I originally had a bad experience with this business and posted a negative review. The manager, Joe, from Silver Auto saw it and contacted me immediately. He apologized for how the sales person behaved and reimbursed all expenses that I incurred by driving to them and inspecting the car. Personally, I still would not buy a car from them but I think Joe seemed like a reasonable manager and I'm less frustrated now than I originally was. You can find my original review below to find out why I was originally frustrated: I found a Hyundai Genesis Coupe at Silver auto that was reasonably priced so I called them up to confirm that it is available and to ask if it has any problems. Mike said that the car was in good condition "as far as he knew." I told him that I had to drive 2h to their dealership so I wanted all facts up front but he said that the car was fine. When I arrived, the coupe looked fine from outside, besides minor dings, which can be expected. I asked Mike to see the inspection report that Silver Auto performed when they got the car but he said that he could not give that to me but that report exists. This got me suspicious. Before he let me take the car to a mechanic he made me sign paperwork that said I could not negotiate price based on mechanic's assessment. Do dealerships do that? Here I asked him again if he knew of anything wrong with the car and he said it was just fine. As I kept asking more questions Mike kept getting more defensive. I took the car to the Hyundai dealership to get it inspected and when they lifted the car we found out that it was in a severe crash. The car had cracked brackets, dripping engine fluids, bent bars, missing engine covers, bent wheels, etc. The car was fixed to hide the damage from the outside but it was fixed not up to spec. It would cost $5,000+ to get it fixed correctly based on visual damage but the mechanic said that it may cost well over $10,000 if they discover in further inspection. Mike from Silver Auto PURPOSELY HID SERIOUS DAMAGE from me. He tried to sell me a broken car for $18,500 but in the end he wasted my 6 h and $60 for a car inspection. [THIS WAS LATER REIMBURSED BY SILVER AUTO] When I confronted Mike, he told me that he was not aware of the damage. How? He confessed that they replaced and repainted the bumper so they must have seen the damage under the car. The issues with the car became obvious to me because I'm a mechanical engineer but I'm afraid that poor families without a technical understanding of cars may not easily detect problems and spend money on something that will break down quickly. Please make sure you have a mechanic inspect the car you are interested in before you buy it. Again, I did not enjoy my interaction with Mike, the salesperson, but the manager, Joe, later apologized for my poor experience and reimbursed me for all of my expenses and lost time. read more

So I went to looked at a Rav4 awd the one I looked at was trashed it ticked real loud like a time bomb my brother has one these and from being around cars all my life I know this is not normal. The rough looking sales man with a flat top told me this condition is perfectly fine and the 25 years he has been selling cars makes his point of view the right one. What a crock of shit! They are getting 3 stars because within 24 hrs I am finding so many things wrong with the car I purchased! I gave 1 star for the great customer service. 1 for fixing the ABS system and 1 for the 300$ off... They are like any other dealer- whatever it takes to make the sale. I average a different car every year and sadly I won't be going back here for another used car- but I did sign on the dotted line so nothing I can do now! As far as value... Not worth it. I would say around 3.5 stars. I brought a 2006 BMW 3 series "as it is". The car price is fair but not spectacular deal. The dealership told me that the car had went through "inspection" before put it on the market. 2 days after i brought the car, the overheating light has came on; took it to a BMW mechanic and found to have multiple problems: 1) water pump failure 2) rear break needs to replace 3) cross arm issues 4) spark plug replacement + misc stuff, to have it completely fix, it will cost me ~$2600. I only had a car for 2 days. Called back the dealership and spoke with the sales Marty, who then deferred all the questions to the sales manager Zac L. The car was brought in for a diagnostic problem. i was told the only imminent problem is the water pump. quote for the water pump is $527 parts + $227 labors (remember this is a BMW), Zac then said might as well change the thermostat since they will be fixing the same proximity. That added another $120. All added up the quote is around $872+ tax. I the end we settled for $772 to have the water pump + thermostat replaced out of my pocket. overall experience, the car's price is fair, but i think they need to do a better inspection job. Even they jacked up the price after they fix the parts, at least that will save me like whole week of hassles driving the car back and forth running from mechanics to mechanics. That being said, the sales department is a worthy mentioned especially the manager zac. At least he is willing to work out a deal with me. Its a fair business. i would come back for a cheap used car. But probably getting a pre-certified BMW will save more hassles. read more
