I had a great experience with Southside Collision and honestly don't get where some of the bad reviews are coming from. The team here communicates really well -- they kept me updated the whole time and explained the process in a way that actually made sense. A lot of people don't realize body work isn't instant. Between ordering parts, working with insurance, and making sure the paint matches perfectly, it's not like picking something up at the store. Southside takes the time to do it right, and you can tell in the results. My car came back looking better than before the accident, and the whole crew was respectful and upfront. I think some folks leaving one‑star reviews just don't understand how collision repair works -- or maybe they're not great at communicating their expectations. They were nice in keeping me informed about the status of my car. I read the reviews and it was a lot of negative reviews and I should have known better. My car was in an accident and I ran over one of those metal horses. I drove it to a safe place and had it towed. It was repaired so I picked my vehicle up today. Driving my dash light came on ' service tire monitoring system' . I called immediately and told them I was returning and Amanda told me no I just needed air in my tire. I had my tires checked and I returned. She informed that that light has been on. She went to get a code reading and said it was a previous problem. First of all I do not drive with alarms and warnings on. All of my services have been kept up through Apple Chevrolet. My RPMs do not drop below 1 and when my car is idle it doesn't automatically shut down. She said she had no proof so I asked if a mechanic can look at it. So next I guess the manager came out from eating Portillo's saying they do not have a mechanic. I asked politely if I can have my concerns in writing since this is a problem I never had a my vehicle. She was extremely rude and very demeaning. She said I could just be saying about my car not operating properly and i said exactly if she can have someone look at it. She said no and told me to leave. Now if the light was on why wouldn't you inform me? Why couldn't you have a mechanic come address my concerns? Why would you abruptly tell me not ask me to leave? I'm a paying customer and if my car isn't working properly why wouldn't simply have someone check it out? Is it because I'm a woman? Is it because I'm African American? Is it because I had on a blue coat??Even though she was extremely rude I held my composure. Why wouldn't you explain about the sensor when I picked it up? I would absolutely recommend this place. It was recommended to me by a friend after I accidentally backed up into my garage door thinking it was open all the way. It wasn't and the back of my hood fin came off ‍ Not only did they get me in quickly for the repair they also set me up with a rental car. The estimate for the time was 3 days due to paint job. Surprisingly the part came in painted so it only took them a matter of hours to complete the work! I was able to pick up my car same day!! The ladies at the desk were so kind and helpful. ** read carefully ** I would give this shop a second star just because the bumper paint job was good but if you want your vehicle to MISS PARTS and have a MEDIOCRE job you better stay away from this place, they will use the excuse the "since it is aftermarket" or "the manufacturer part type is not the right one" while your already paid the job or deductible by having your vehicle already in your possession and not at their shop finding out the missing parts at home. By inspecting it meticulously at my garage and noticing improperly assembled and installed, I reached them out asking them that why I was never informed that my vehicle was missing parts at the moment of the visit? on Sep.13th or the pick-up? Sep.15th... The manager response was; "the technician with over 50 years of experience tried to swap and try to fit them" Now I am starting to wondering how things are being installed... My vehicle was missing parts and THEY ACKNOWLEDGE it and said no word.*** (Picture compared with another exact same vehicle in blue color) " If you want to get the things right, you have to do it yourself " On September 13th I went to check my vehicle prior getting into the front desk from a distance of the shop I could see my vehicle just behind parked and NO BODY WORKING ON IT. On the bay sections. (I would not try to trespassing when something seems suspicious already by them). By asking them on the front desk to see my vehicle and if I could step in they claimed to not to because their policy in liability by me getting injured or in case something happens which is understandable, so I insisted that I needed just to go and grabbed some stuff like there's no way like someone would assault me with a tool or air hose come on, I really needed the documents left on my vehicle to renew my plate in order to drive prior pick up day, Riley mentioned that my vehicle was lifted and it was not exactly how I could see it since they "were working on it" ( here I got the extremely concerned like wait a minute I JUST SAW THE VEHICLE PARKED FROM A DISTANCE ON THE GATE OR BAY NO BODY WORKING IN IT AND YOU SAID THAT WAS LIFTED?) he went to the manager Katie and seemed like they were looking for my documents and just brought it onto the front desk what there's was not way I could not leave without seeing what exactly was already being made on my car. I wanted to caught them on the what's going on here, there were costumers and carrier guy unloading at their desk and the manager Katie said that "if I needed more pictures I should have asked for it" (which I did ) and I keep telling her in front of the costumer over and over she kept denying! At this point I thought that the manager was playing childish games on yes and not or I could have, here and there. She ended up making a scene on the walkie talkie radio loudly "STOP WORKING IN THE RED CAR, THE COSTUMER WANT TO SEE IT!" like the entire shop workers were focus putting their hands on it. When no soul was working on it. The manager Katie was full of lack of communication professionalism over a text message saying that they will "by their right" not to share pictures of my own property vehicle, even though if you are being told that you can request them making me like I am a LIAR I stopped the video to show her how is that I got my car pictures and those were being shared EXACTLY, SHE WAS SPEECHLESS. The "Manager" Katie kept claimed that the person assigned to made the fixes to my vehicle had and extended experience technician for over 50 years several times but seemed that person is not putting his hands on it at all, all that I got was a teenager kid giving me the parts. If you want to have your vehicle miss parts and have a MEDIOCRE JOB and being in a childish unprofessional situation by a body shop ran by kids this is the best place where to start! 0 stars would be to nice. My car dealer recommended this little shop of horrors to fix my car after an accident. I should have went somewhere else when my initial visit for an estimate lacked good customer service, but I let it go, I just wanted my car fixed properly. After a week of not hearing back I called to inquire about another matter on my vehicle and about my pending drop off date. Staff member who I talked with said he would have someone call back, he was not very knowledgeable on what was going on. Finally a lady who says her name was Katie, (not sure if thats her real name) gave me a drop off date over a month out. I simply asked if it was safe to drive my vehicle for that long due to the bumper being loose. Katie stated that my vehicle only had cosmetic damage. So inquisitively I stated that I thought cosmetic damage was usually paint damage and things of that nature, I then stated that my bumper was shifted. After that Katie became nasty nice and condescending, basically trying to make me feel as if I was stupid and began questioning me, in a condescending tone, asking what do you consider shifted? I explained that my bumper was loose and bowed out on each side of my vehicle, and once again in a condescending tone, Katie told me that my vehicle only had cosmetic damage, alluding that my bumper being loose was was indeed considered cosmetic. My issue is not with whether or not the damage on my vehicle was cosmetic or not, the problem is that Katie's tone became rude and nasty nice once I questioned the drop off date and if my car was safe to drive for another month in its condition. I believe when people like Katie are nasty nice, they think people don't recognize it, and this is why they continue to be rude and condescending and think that people will not say anything. I called her out, and instead of apologizing, Katie was ready to go on and on with me, toe to toe, which shows poor customer service. I asked if there was anyone above her I could speak to she smugly said no. If Katie is indeed the owner, she should know that a little kindness and patience goes a long way when people have questions about a complex process such as getting a car fixed. And if Katie does not have time to answer simple questions, maybe Katie should hire more staff and educate her staff, so that she doesn't have to get snippy with customers when she does not want to answer service questions. Do yourself a favor people, take your business somewhere that is professional, has good customer service and knowledgeable staff. I don't care how good your business may be at fixing cars, if you lack good customer service, and people skills, your business may not be as great as your think it may be, if it was even great in the first place. I used to like this place and all I will say is they are crooks. I will try and keep this brief however it is lengthy. My son totaled his car in October of last year. I brought it here because it was supposed to be fixable. After the insurance company totaled it the car was supposed to be towed away by my insurance company. After it sat for months I was contacted by Southside asking what are we doing with this car it has been there since October 2019 and storage fees were in the thousands. Now please keep in mind everyone that I have not heard from anyone that the car was still there or I have not seen that car since it was deemed totaled. I contacted my insurance company to see what was going on and I am not quite sure where the disconnect between them and my insurance occurred but my insurance said there was no settlement. Now I did get a check from my insurance and thought that it was pretty much over with the exception of a final payout and the car was gone. I ended up getting a final settlement with the insurance company for a salvage settlement. This is where I get the car back and a little money from the insurance company. I was also able to help settle the storage fees which were almost $6000.00 (which the insurance paid). Now this is where the cooks come in. Southside Collision (specifically Wendy) wanted some parts off of the car before I took it. We agreed to headlights and the rear part of the exhaust only for $450.00. These were both new on the car less than 3000 miles on them so it was a fair deal plus they would tow the car to me at no cost to me. They paid that. Fair so far correct? I think so. I specifically asked if the car was movable and I was told by Wendy "yes we have been moving it all over the lot the last few months". I said great because if it wasn't I would make sure I had something at the house to move it around at meet the tow driver. We agreed on a date to have it delivered so I would be home ( I am a full time firefighter so I am gone for a full day 24hrs at a time). Well the car was dropped off without me being there, it didn't move, it was set in the middle of one of my driveways messed up the concrete and parts were missing off of the car. The cold air intake was gone, the bumper marker lights were gone. I called and asked Wendy what was going on why it was dumped when they knew I was not home yet and where are the other parts are that at we did not agree to. She said she would look into it. A week later nothing. I called back she is not there out sick and will call me the following week. End of the following week nothing I leave another message, I get the reply she has some personal issues and will get back to me the following week. Again end of the following week nothing call back, I get "she is out this week we will let her know you called". I asked to speak with someone else and was told they could not help me and needed to talk with her. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 6 WEEKS NOW AND NOBODY WILL CALL ME BACK! So someone there stole parts off ( which I would have gladly sold to them) nobody can call me back and follow up, every excuse in the book why I can get a hold of Wendy, car dumped in my driveway that does not move.Total unprofessionalism. This is sad because they do good work and I have sent all my firemen friends there for work, but not anymore. I will be filing a police report with Frankfort Police also. I have tried for weeks to talk to someone and it will have to result in the police getting involved. People BE AWARE OF PLACES LIKE THIS!!!!! They may do good work but customer service is EVERYTHING!!! STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!! THERE ARE OTHER PLACES THAT DO JUST AS GOOD WORK OR BETTER. IF YOU NEEDA PLACE TRY AINSCO AUTO BODY.
