Second time: solo thigh and corn bread gravy

Food: phenomenal, warm, flavorful, the chicken is perfectly crispy but yet soft and juicy and tender on the inside. I love their corn bread! Omg i could have eaten 5! I love how you get to pick your sauce! Service: quick and friendly staff!

Some of the best fried chicken you will have in Upstate NY! Silo has two locations, at the Liquid State Brewery in Ithaca, NY and on Thursday's June through October at The Pumpkin Stand in Ovid, NY. I have yet to stop by these locations and though I am 100% sure that the quality, flavors and service are still top notch my review is solely based on their very busy food truck. I have visited this food truck at many local events. Their chicken is sustainably farmed, all-natural, and free-range. All of the ingredients they use are from local, organic farmers. All of their chicken is bone-in dark meat. Each bite is moist and flavorful. My favorites are the Green Coconut Curry which is a 1/2 lb. of fried chicken with green curry over purple coconut sticky rice, greens & house-made Asian Trio pickles. The Telekinetic Chicken has a seasonal fusion BBQ sauce on the fried chicken along with the sticky rice and pickles. Both are flavor popping perfection. The sides are also created fresh and are delicious. Silo also makes a mac & cheese that is to die for! They make their own béchamel sauce as well as use NY extra sharp cheddar cheese. They have many variations of their Mac and cheese to try! The owners are amazing, always interacting with their customers, and showing them how much they enjoy what they do. This in turns makes their food more beautiful and delicious. I highly recommend checking them out.

I went to Silo Chicken Truck in Liquid State Brewery recently and ordered 1 lb of chicken, the Silo Mac & Cheese, and the Wizard Green Curry fries. Most fried chicken has a lovely aroma and is flavorful only on the outer crispy skin but the inside has no taste, that is not the case with Silo food truck! I found the chicken to be juicy and flavorful! Also for sauces we got the Honey Mustard, the Gravy (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!), and the Red Pepper Mayo. On to the mac & cheese! I want to preface by saying that I am not the biggest fan of Mac & Cheese in general and I found Silo's to be slightly flavorless. It was a very creamy dish that lacked spices/seasonings. I would skip this and opt for maybe one of the flavored Mac & Cheeses (but you're not missing too much if you skip this entirely). The Wizard Green Curry Fries were also pretty mediocre to me. I thought the "coconut curry" sauce tasted nothing like green coconut curry. It mores tasted like a tamarind chutney that you might get at an Indian restaurant. I love green curry so these greatly disappointed me. I feel like if I were to come again, I would get the plain fries or the Disco Fries. The fries themselves were salty, thin, and delicious! The vibes in Liquid State/Silo were really good and fun; would not make a big deal out of coming back but I enjoyed the experience!

We ordered from Silo while visiting the liquid state brewing co one evening. We ordered at the table through our phones (service wasn't great so this was a slow process) and the food came quickly. I ordered the gluten'ous' to the Maximus which came with Mac n cheese and also got fries on the side. I didn't care for the chicken much to be honest. It wasn't even really hot when I started eating it. The Mac n cheese was pretty good but also had crunchy spots in it as if the pasta wasn't cooked or was just old. We also got fries and they were really good. As someone who loves fried chicken, fries, and Mac n cheese I was a little disappointed with my experience here.

Thus was the first time trying Silos and we were mostly pleased with the food we purchased. The chicken was good, the grilled cornbread was a great option to try, but the mac and cheese was the home run for us. The only misfire was the fries, a lot were WAY over cooked, and really not edible, which was a shame as everything was worth coming in Ithaca to get. We will definitely come again, especially for the Mac and cheese and the chicken!

Comfort food with the joy of pickled onions and greens! The veggie Mac and cheese with greens and onions is the best. And a side of coleslaw and pickles. Easy to order and delicious!

This food truck is located in the parking lot of a brewery. You can either order at the truck to go and take into the brewery or when in the brewery you can scan a QRS code and place the order on your phone and it will be brought to your table. My husband got spicy chicken over rice and corn bread and he said it was really good and I got one of the Mac and cheese and it was really good. We also go these curry or something French fries to share which were good. Everything had lots of flavor.

I was not a fan of the salmon mousse... far too salty and I wish it was paired with crisped bread or at least something other than Ritz crackers. I did, however, enjoy the presentation and taste of the macaroni au gratin. The square shape is very unique and I liked the cheese sauce. The lamb w gnocchi was also quite good. Pillowy and soft. The lamb was cooked well. Overall, I would maybe return. I enjoyed the macaroni au gratin as well as the lamb w gnocchi!

Staff was pleasant and quick. The menu is dominated by drink options (cocktails and wines), and happy hour is 4-5pm, which is perfect for an aperitif. The fried chicken is by far their speciality, with the macaroni coming in as a distant second. But while both were delicious, I'd say the best value and taste goes surprisingly to the simple summer salad, which was crisp, sweet, tangy, and refreshing. It's only $10 for a hefty portion of food and I'd order that again anytime (and that's coming from a guy who'd never normally order a salad). My only criticisms are that the Rook doesn't have many entree choices (which may be a good thing for indecisive diners), and that it's very slightly pricey. Otherwise, it's an easy recommend for me.

I also got the strawberry mango smoothie with oat milk and it was the perfect match to my wrap. My friends had already eaten here and were raving about how good the cheese fries were and how I could actually eat them and they really were so good! Over all it was such a great experience and I love the diner vibes. The parking is a little iffy because it's in the same area of Dominos so it's a little limited but there's a parking garage around the corner and street parking is always an option. We were eating light so went for coffee (excellent) and an apple cinnamon roll (outstanding). They had a lineup of breakfast sandwiches that sounded good, but the menu seemed to be missing a lot of diner classics like pancakes. They actually had a shelf stocked with your typical diner ceramic mugs, but they absolutely refused to serve my coffee in one, insisting on using a disposable cup. Anyways... what did I get out of it? An awesome group of people and well... MIX. Updating my review because MIX deserves a proper shoutout and I haven't done it justice. This place is unequivocally my absolute FAVORITE brunch spot. The selection is vast, the portions are hearty, and the staff? They're the kindest, most accommodating folks you'll meet. It's like they've mastered the art of making you feel right at home. And the food? Oh, the food is ABSOLUTELY divine. Every bite is a delicious reminder of why I've converted to the church of brunch. Seriously, I went from a casual brunch-goer to a full-fledged brunch enthusiast, all thanks to CHAARG for leading me to this culinary gem. My brunch game has never been the same.

I've had brunch, lunch, and dinner at MIX, and all with varying levels of enjoyment. My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

When we arrived, I asked the staff if I could open a bottle that my dad had gifted me for graduation. I asked beforehand out of respect, and they told me it was fine as long as I paid a $25 corkage fee. I agreed immediately. We even asked for ice, and the staff poured drinks from the bottle for us. About 10 minutes later, one of the bartenders suddenly came to our table, took the bottle away without asking, and told us we now had to pay a $25 fee PER PERSON because they also sold that liquor at the restaurant and were "losing money." This was never explained beforehand. The staff was extremely rude and confrontational with my entire family, and they even said they would not return the bottle. What made it worse is that we spent well over $1,000 on food and drinks during the dinner, including multiple bottles of wine from the restaurant itself. Then when the check arrived, there was an additional hidden "family style fee" of almost $300 that had never been mentioned before. It honestly felt like they were trying to make up for the bottle situation by adding random charges. On top of all that, our table was not ready on time and we had to wait around 20 minutes despite the reservation being made months in advance. The food itself was average at best, but the service and overall professionalism were unacceptable. This was supposed to be my graduation dinner with my family and instead became a stressful and frustrating experience for everyone. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
