We looked at this place because they listed a car with a price that was almost too good to be true and described the car as being in great condition, quoted below: "No mechanical issues at all. Very well maintained and serviced. Never been in any accidents. Very clean inside and out with no damages at all." But then they refused to allow us to have a local mechanic inspect the car! Very suspicious when the price is nearly too good to be true and the car is described as being in great condition. The bay area is a big place, I'm not going to spend an hour (round trip) to take a look at a car that's so problematic that the dealer won't even allow an inspection. I've done a fair amount of used car shopping and have never run into this before; there's no reason to disallow an inspection unless you're running a scam and know that any competent mechanic will spot problems with the car. read more

Needed a safe suv for my son ASAP as he was starting college away. We called Silmi auto sales Sunday morning as we saw an Audi Q5 we are very interested in, the owner came in on his day off, allowed us to test drive the car and gave us maintenance records on the vehicle. He also pointed out himself that there was a faulty sensor that needed repair but because the car had just reached a lot and we were the first people to see it. He offered to have it fixed at my personal mechanic or give us a discount on the car. We chose to have it fixed and it took about 3 days and my son is now driving his new car and we couldn't be happier with our purchase. Buyer beware. Silmi's is a small reseller of mostly luxury autos. I went (drove 20 miles) to test drive and take a 2012 Volvo S60 for a pre-purchase inspection. I was interested as the vehicle had roughly 77k miles and was seeking a reliable second car. Ihab Silmi is responsive to communication and arrived promptly at the scheduled time. That said, he does not check or inspect the vehicles for safety or maintenance. I found the car to be dirty when I arrived. I quickly did a once over on the car and found the AC blew warm. I took the Volvo to Fremont Foreign Auto and glad I did. The car needed roughly $4k in repairs including timing belt and oil pan, pump, and gasket. The car had a meaningful oil leak and steering pulled to the left due to brake conditions. I spent 4.5 hrs of my time and $320 to avoid a money pit. Upon return from my test drive, Ihab did not want to know all the details of the car's condition. From my experience, Ihab views the vehicles as commodities to extract value from. His ethics are questionable and hopes for a buyer that does not do their due diligence. He will say the mechanic is expensive or that any car will have some work. Definitely do not buy a vehicle from Silmi's Auto Sales without a pre-purchase inspection. read more
