I haven't been on these in forever. They are more of a kiddy ride but the line was short and the wife wanted to swing. It is fun to float in the air and spin spin. We had a blast. They have a two seater to so you could get really close with your loved one. We didn't do that since she wanted to be on the outside to get the most swing out and see the most. Great fun read more

CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE RIDE #1: Silly Symphony Swings This was the first ride we rode when we crossed over to California Adventure from Disneyland. My LTP is not the biggest fan of rides that take you way up in the air, so I really had to talk him into riding this ride with me. Out of all the rides that we went on, this was the only ride where we had to set our bags aside before getting on. If you're a longtime Disneyland/California Adventure visitor, you may remember that the Silly Symphony Swings replaced the big orange ride in which the called the Orange Stinger, which closed in 2009. I first rode this about a year after its' grand opening, during my choir trip to Disneyland back in high school, and I thought it was very fun. This was definitely on my list of rides to go on when I was here again. The Silly Symphony Swings are based on the 1935 short film The Band Concert. When we were on it, it was set to the tune of William Tell Overture, and Mickey Mouse is at the very top of the ride conducting while it's in operation. The line to board wasn't too long, and yes, California Adventure was about an hour away from closing, so we thought, why not? Even though the ride is close to two minutes long, it's still definitely worth it, with its' thrill seeking atmosphere and amazing views of the park from all sides. read more

Probably the best ride in the entire park in terms of wait time and enjoyment ratio. I've never gone here when the ride was anymore than 15-20 minutes (I'm sure sort of rounded up so that people get the illusion that the ride is going much quicker than it is). The ride also isn't so short too that you feel that the wait wasn't worth it and since there are so many swing seats, it cycles through the guests much quicker. And you can never go wrong with a good swings ride. Nice breeze in your hair and face and the ride undulates so you do go up and down as you swing around too. Make sure to take off any hats or ears since I always see the ones that get tossed off guests when I myself am on the ride. The ride is based on the vintage Disney cartoon, "The Band Concert" and you can see that art all along the mainframe of the swings. The ride plays William Tell's, "Storm" which is quite befitting. PS. Just funny that this used to be a giant orange ride and the orange smell attracted real bees. Thank god it was swapped out. read more

People be crazy! Riding stuff like this, with your feet all dangling- and flying through the air. This ride is so crazy to me! It's sooo scary! lol I'm a scary cat though, if I'm being honest. Being on this ride is not as scary as watching it. Watching it is terrifying lolol What if someone falls out?? What if the contraption holding them in breaks? They just fly and plummet to their death? I feel like this ride should have air bags all around it to catch you in case you fall out or it breaks. lol Kind of like how stunt devils have safety nets... Silly Symphony Swings is located in Disneyland's California Adventure at Pixar Pier. It's next to Goofy's fly school and the Jumpin Jellyfish. The wait time for this ride is pretty low, less than 15 minutes. It's high up in the sky and you can pretty much see most of the park on the ride. There are single seats and double seats for younger children to ride with adults. You'll have to put your larger bags down on the ground before getting on the ride. The seats are buckled in with a strap and lap bar. You swing in the air, circular. The ride is pretty short and it does play classical music throughout the ride!! I believe this was our last ride in the Paradise Pier area before heading elsewhere on Sunday, November 18th around 10:15am. From what I found online, there's a 40" requirement for this ride so the three older kids were able to ride. (They are about 4.5 to 7 years in age.) Still, they weren't able to ride without an adult, so three of us had to accompany them. We ended up on the double swings where the kids are strapped in with what I remember was a double over the shoulder belt and one through the legs. That way, there's no chance they would slip out. This was a little more thrilling than the golden zephyr since we were in swings. More open and carefree. Reminiscent of a carnival ride, so not a must do. You can pretty much find this ride at any amusement park. read more

This swing ride is located at Pixar Pier. It's hard to miss, but it will require taking the "long way" around the pier to enter. It looks like your typical carnival ride. At home, people pay $5 to go on the carnival swings and wait an hour in line. At Disney's California Adventure, you can ride this ride as many times as you want and the wait is usually less than 30 minutes. It doesn't look like it goes very high, but because it's kind of elevated above the water, it feels a lot higher. This is probably one of my favorite rides that gets overlooked by most. It does seem a little short, but it's ok, I just jump back in line!! :) they have both single seats and the seats that are two seats combined into one. I'm too scared to try to take selfies on this ride in fear of my phone flying out into the water, but if you're brave, this is a cool ride to take selfies haha. read more

We hadn't been on this ride yet, and being the Disneyland/DCA completionists that we are, we figured it was about time to scratch this one off our lists. Yes, this ride is the classic carnival swings ride you see that spins you around as it lifts you off the ground. But, when it's at full speed and it tilts toward the ground... @_@ I had been recording our ride on my phone (like others were with theirs), but coupled with the high rate of speed and the fear of dropping my phone, I was pretty tense throughout the ride (the smile on my face was just a little stressed)! Too bad this one's a bit on the short side - when the ride finished, I checked the video on my phone to see how long it lasted... ONE MINUTE! At least this is a good ride for the kiddies and their parents; there's twin seats on this attraction that are meant for parents to ride with their children, but couples like myself and my lady were also taking advantage. Keep this one in mind for a quick thrill with not too long of a wait! read more

I wanted to go on this ride over and over again. However, this ride does make one dizzy if you tend to get motion sickness easily like me. This ride not only lifts you up 10-15 feet off the ground, it actually changes angles so you can go up and down and feel your stomach drop. It's a funny feeling and yes for 15 seconds you feel like a kid again. Very child friendly, there's seats designated for parent and child riders. P.S. Thank goodness the engineers knew what they were doing when they put this thing together! We were on our, "let's try something new this trip!" phase when we decided to give this ride a whirl (har, har.) Now, there aren't many rides that make me nervous. We all know that the swinging cars on the Ferris Wheel make me cry, and the Goofy ride across the way makes my butt pucker, but that's usually about it. We also know that I typically avoid spinning rides. The teacups are only ridden when a firm set of rules and a safe word have been implemented. I don't do the rides that spin so fast that you're sucked up against a wall. I know my limitations. And yet...I thought this would be different. Maybe not, "Weeeee! I'm having the best time EVER!" fun, but at least different from the norm. We were herded through the gate towards the swinging seats. We found two seats that were next to each other, and I took the outside chair. BAD move. They did their safety check, then off we went. At first, it wasn't so bad. We were gliding. I could handle that. Then, the ride started to pick up steam. We spun higher and higher, and the chair itself started to spin. Not a crazy spin, but it definitely started to twist. And the chairs on the outside definitely get higher up than the ones on the inside. It was at that point that I offered up a quick prayer that they inspect the fittings on the regular (yes, I KNOW they do), and I might have started softly cursing under my breath. There were children around, after all. Had it been all adults, they would've heard me crying, "Oh, god DAMN, what is happening up in here?!", or something like that. Still, I give it five stars. Because when it was all said and done, I had a blast. I'm not going to wait in a line that's longer than five minutes for it, but it really was fun. read more

Can you tell that I'm missing Disneyland yet? It's been a whole year but we all remember like it was yesterday! The happiest place on Earth! So any typical fair we go to will have your average swing type of ride there. This is not your typical fair ride by any means. This swing ride is the ultimate swing ride we've ever been on! The ride itself sits up on a higher plateau so while suspended in the air you really get that feeling of flying. As it tilts at certain points you can see your feet dangling above the water. The ride has some seats where a pair are attached, and most of them are free floating. The buckle system feels very secure and safe, so feel free to spread your arms out and feel the wind flow around you. My daughter was under a certain height limit so she needed to be on an attached seat. My boys were able to decide if they wanted to sit by us or not... boys. If you're the romantic couple, I'm sure holding hands on this ride would be the cutest! During the ride, classical symphony music is playing throughout, hence the name. The ride shuts down early due to the World of Color show being displayed at the pier water. So just be aware of the timing when trying to catch this ride. read more

The wait time for this was ridiculously short! I still remember when this used to be the orange ride, but now it's themed with images from the 1935 Mickey Mouse short, "The Band Concert." It's a short and sweet ride. You sit in a swing, and you're pulled upwards, and swung around for a few minutes. The movements are very smooth, and I'm sure the ride is very sturdily built, but I did instinctually feel the need to tuck my feet in, especially when I felt like I was flying over the water, because who knew if I was going to go flying off? You either hop on this ride with your kids, or you watch from afar while drinking an ice cold beer from the stand which is conveniently located right next to the ride. It is not a giant roller coaster, or a fancy ride that took five years to engineer through CGI, but it's a classic that makes all the little and big kids of all ages feel this sense of relaxation and relief that can't always be found in a busy theme park full of tens of thousands of people. You'll definitely feel like you're flying away on these swings! It's quite high off the ground, and at parts, you feel like you're right over the Paradise Pier water! This attraction is your typical amusement park swings ride with the theme of Walt Disney's cartoon "The Band Concert". The one good thing about this swings attraction that I haven't really seen anywhere else are the tandem seats. There are 8 tandem (side by side seating), so small children (who meet the height requirement) can ride with one of their parents or an older sibling. Typical waits for this attraction seem to range between 5-10 minutes. I never really see a line longer than that. No Guests under 40" inches will be allowed to ride this attraction. Guests who are between 40" and 48" inches must ride in the tandem seats. The Cast Member at the entrance will measure small children. Those who are between 40"- 48" inches will be given a pass sent to the left side of the stair case to ride. The pass lets the Cast Members at the attraction know that you will be using a tandem seat. Because there are only 8 tandem, Guests with the tandem seat pass will be loaded first. If there are extra tandem seats available, any Guest can then use them. Guests using wheelchairs can use the elevator and bring their wheelchair right up to the swing seat of their choice. read more

A couple years ago was the last time I got to ride this one--- it's fun! It is short, but filled with thrills. But enjoy it because, just like that, it's over. There is a song. (I think that my husband showed me the cartoon that inspired this ride.) Your feet hang, but you get to see views of the park when you're high up there. I usually go alone because hubby's got a fear of heights. Not sure yet if our son's got it too, but we'll see on our next visit, hopefully, maybe. Line is usually long when during the day but I lucked out when I rode it and there was no line. I think it would be pretty bad if it is super sunny and hot outside. This was a fun ride. Adam and I love the swings. It is just the ride amount of thrill mixed with dizzying moves. There was no line and we were able to get on the ride right away. The ride also holds a lot of people so it is easy to keep the line moving. The music was fun, as was seeing the entire parkas we go round and round. Do you swing? Are you a swinger? I mean, everyone does it, so there's no point in denying it. I mean, we've been doing it since we were kids. Do you remember your first time swinging? I mean, I do. It's one of those things that crosses all boundaries. You can be swinging in Pomona before the street lights come on and you have to go home, or you can be swinging up in the hills at your little white friends' house, overlooking her pool and her mama making you smoothies. You can do it at school, at the beach and at the county fair. You can take pictures and hashtag it #swinging and have millions of people see you do it on Instagram. Or you can do it here, at California Adventure. Here, you get The William Tell Overture so you can keep it classy while you swing. Here, you get to do it with strangers and hardly ever have to wait in line. If you're an outside swinger, you'll get the butterflies in your tummy as you go 'round. If you like to swing with a partner, there's tandem seating on the inside so you can hit those high notes together. But mostly, swinging makes you feel young and free. Freedom, even while confined to a seat, has that effect on me. If any of your friends (or boyfriend *cough*) talk shit about your swinging, tell them to keep on steppin' and leave the swinging to the people who know how to have fun. When my husband and I went to Disney's California Adventure Park, he asked me if I would like to ride this attraction. I remember the first time I went to this park (I think in 2005?), I didn't even know this ride existed. I had butterflies just looking at people swinging on these swings in a super fast motion. I hesitatingly agreed to go on with him. I remember walking up the stairs to the swings and hearing people scream while the spinning wheel moved at what seemed to be 100 miles per hour haha; I know it wasn't that fast but in a way, it certainly looked that fast! As we edged closer to the ride, my stomach was twisting and turning (how did I talk myself into this)??? When it was our turn to ride the swings, we were told to place our belongings on the ground because otherwise, we would lose them if we had them on the swings. I placed my purse and my small bag of Disney merchandise on the floor and my husband and I were lucky enough to ride a swing together (since our swing had two seats attached together). Once we were seated and the worker checked our seatbelts, we first moved up then we listened to Mickey Mouse conduct his Symphony (based on the popular Disney cartoon silly symphonies) then started moving. The swing stuck out so far that every time we made a circle, I truly believed I was either going to fall in the lake below me and fall to my death or I was going to hit the wall with my feet! I tried to keep my feet into my seat as best I could. I kept thinking to myself that the swing was held together by a mere cable and how can I ever trust this cable with my life?? I remember screaming and this little boy behind kept laughing and saying "Weeee"!!!! We circled I don't know how many times! When the ride slowed down and finally came to an end, I got off the ride and felt a little sick to my stomach; my husband bought me a sprite to calm my nerves. Even though I was scared the whole time riding this attraction, in a strange way, I actually kind of enjoyed it because it was an adrenaline rush and it was something that was new and exciting to me.
