Let me start off by saying I love sushi. I've had sushi all over the world, including Japan. Luckily, I married someone who loves sushi just as much as I do. We also love to have our go-to restaurants for different types of foods. Therefore, my wife and I have made it a personal mission to try all of the different sushi spots in Anchorage and surrounding areas. We've lived here for about 3 years and I'm soo disappointed that we didn't find this place sooner! The service was excellent, and the sushi was incredible. We ended up eating 3 rolls just between us two, and each one was mind blowing. If sushi isn't your thing, they have plenty of other options on their menu too. The egg rolls are unique and very good. Basically a meal in themselves. The sesame chicken had good flavor an plenty of crunch.

This was a quick stop through Anchorage, and we chose the right place. So very good!!

We went here last night for dinner. It was not busy inside. The waitress took our order and then did not bring our drinks for over 20 minutes, had to ask her for them and for our miso soup. The sushi chef was busy and kept putting up orders and they would just sit there undelivered for 10 to 15 min. The waitresses were more worried and occupied by to go orders than the dine in customers. It took over an hour to get our food and it came to us at different times. The food was good, especially the mongolian beef, but not worth waiting that long. The worst part is that the waitress really did not check on us. Will not be going here again. read more

Don't let where it's located fool you. I drove right by it and then was almost put off by the fact that it's a dingy little strip mall type area. I came for dinner by myself during a business trip. On a Thursday night, it wasn't too crowded. I sat at a booth rather than at the sushi bar - but the sushi chef did seem very talkative to the people who sat at the bar. Ordered DoorDash from silk this evening for an early dinner. I ordered the egg rolls, edamame, and beef and broccoli. The egg rolls were in the usual wonton skin but then dipped it tempura batter. They arrived greasy, limp and not tasting very well. The edamame was a good order and tasted fine. My beef and broccoli was inedible. It was super salty and very very fishy. It was my first time ordering from silk and ended up very disappointed. I would not recommend. read more

My family and I visit Anchorage at least 2-3 times a year and eat at a different sushi joint in town. We decided to give Silk a try and will be choosing them over their competition. Fast and friendly service. Food portions were gigantic (Spicy Noodle Soup). Only pitfall is a bit pricey for some rolls but that's expected. I would highly recommend this place if you're visiting Anchorage. read more

My spousal unit and I have been patronizing Silk since it opened, through thick and thin, including the Great Wuhan Red Death Plague of 2019--and 2020--and now 2021, and the delightful family-run restaurant has bravely soldiered on. We've never had a bad meal, albeit service occasionally, due to low staffing (it's a small family) can be slightly slow; The food makes up for all other shortcomings. Everything is fresh, everything is carefully made, and their seafood is glorious. I usually have sashimi or a sushi-sashimi combo; It's always been invariably excellent. This time, I tried the 'Perfectionist' Roll--tempura shrimp, tempura lobster, avocado, more crab, a dash of Sriracha. This thing was DELICIOUS--and about the size of a small child. The fine little California Roll that I also ordered, although fresh, sweet, and flavorful, paled in comparison to the magnificent beast that is the Perfectionist. Ask For It By Name. My companion's gyoza and chicken fried rice were also epic, of course, but on a slightly lesser scale. Both were great, but that ROLL! And they have others I have yet to try. . . I shall return. Oh, and sake. And beer. Be patient, don't expect fast-food speed, and you'll like this place very much. read more

Definitely my least favorite sushi place in town. The prices are about 15-20 percent higher than most of the competition. The service is super slow. Tonight our server went outside to pet someone's puppy, which is cool. We weren't waiting on a anything at the time, but then she came back in and came to bring us water without washing her hands. That's gross. The sushi came out at a normalish speed, but an order of shrimp fried rice took another 20 minutes after the sushi with no apology or anything. And everything was super bland. None of it was bad, but none of it was good. Three visits is my minimum for a restaurant cuz everyone has off nights, but this place hasn't been able to pull off a decent experience yet. After much yelp searching, this place seems to have decent reviews. Maybe I should've spent more time researching as this place is just average. I had the halibut bento lunch special. Nothing that wowed me. It was good but not enough to make this a "must" have-to-go for sushi. If you want average than I recommend Silk if you're near the area. Not one to typically be so negative but this was quite literally the worst service I've ever experienced. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes and all we got was a tea and our gyoza appetizer after 1 hour. With this being said, the gyoza and tea were good! 45 minutes later we ask again and are told "they haven't started your sushi, I don't know what's going on" so we left. 4 other groups also left. Silk has fresh sushi and they have a great variety of creative rolls we enjoyed. All of the ones we tried were delicious. Legit menu with Korean staples, Chinese favorites, and the tempura is always a hit for kids and people who don't eat sushi. We ordered a bento and the quality and value is top notch. The jjajangmeun at Silk is popular as well, especially with the Koreans lol... it was as good as anywhere I have tried. The restaurant has a great ambiance and the sushi bar setup is dope. I love this restaurant!!! The interior is sleek and modern, and the food is fabulous. Immaculately clean, which I think is really important in a restaurant . Each roll that we've tasted looked like a work of art. Here are my faves.... The blushing geisha and the dynamite roll, monkey roll. There are so many to choose from but I am sure all the rolls are super good. Next time I think I'll try Hwedupbap or Kalbi. I noticed Silk on Benson a couple of months or so ago,and had been meaning to try it so I suggest it to a friend for a recent lunch meeting. Although it is tucked into an ugly stip mall the interior is elegant in a minimalist Asian motife. My friend said he had been in the space some time ago, when it was a different reasturant and stated it was a total transformation of space. I arraived first, a few minutes before my friend, and was greeted right away by the sushi chef and then quickly provided water and menus by the waitress. My friend was also greeted as soon as he enetred, making us feel very welcome. The menue is impressive primarily shusi and Japaneese, but also had a varriety of other offerings including Thai, Korean and Chineese maybe more, but those are the ones that I recall. I had a miso soup and a Thai curry dish, and both were excellent. We were served quickly, allowing us to have a relaxed lunch break, and still get back to our offices with out feeling rushed. I will certainly be trying Silk for dinner in the near future. read more

Very good flavors, the quail egg is not cooked. The service was great! The interior was great! The bathroom was super clean and had nice smelling soap. But of course the best part was my spicy seafood soup!! I first tried the broth and it brought me so much familiarity and comfort that I wanted to cry. "This is it, this is how I remember what good spicy seafood soup tasted like!" There is not that many places that can nail the broth flavor like SILK did. And I didn't run out of noodles! Usually I never get enough noodles with my seafood soup. One of my family's go-to spots! Definitely my parents favorite. They do all of their dishes quite well from sushi to Chinese to Korean. Some favorites are the Korean spicy seafood soup and Korean chicken wings. Sushi is good and sesame chicken is made just right. Generous portions and they start you out with soup and/or salad. Had a pickup time of 813pm. I walked in and wasn't greeted by anyone even though the guy and girl saw me come into the building. I stood and waited. No one said a word to me. Seeing as there was only one other couple sitting in the resturaunt and several people waiting for Togo I felt like the silence was odd and honestly rude. I waited for 30 minutes before I walked up to said person and asked for an eta as the food was set to pickup 30 minutes prior. After another 20 minutes of waiting for Togo food the guy tells me to take two bags and that I had one more waiting. I asked again 5 minutes later apparently they had given half of my order to another person and told me to bring the food back inside for them to re check an order the man has just finished packing. I stated that if the customer called for a refund then I am not to be held responsible and the guy got smart and told me to just go get the food I had just taken to the car. Needless to say I'll be denying any food pickups from this establishment due to the extremely unprofessional man working there. I waited over an hour without pay and without any communication. Shocked at how rude this companies front man is. No customer service skills what so ever. read more
