Some Ziess brand w/Nike frame, with anti glare and automatic shade in the sun and anti scratch and progressive lens and I also buy my Sunglasses there too with prescription. Been coming here for a while. Dr. Wun and her staff Natalia were excellent. I was very impressed with Natalia and her product knowledge. She was professional in her assistance and very knowledgeable how your insurance works and what lens are free and which ones are not and which frame is covered and which one is not. Very satisfied to see a Latina working with the Asian community in Cupertino. Me and my daughter & wife are satisfied customers and would recommend to anybody in need of glasses or contacts. I want to share my experience here getting a quote for contact lenses. As an in-network provider, they quote me an absurd amount for ONE pair of contact lenses. They made up of copayment, topography, retina screening, and a few hundred of "transfer fee"(??). The transfer fee is ridiculous and does not make sense to me.They later give me a quote waiving the transfer fee but is still higher than if I go out of network. I found optometrists that I only have to pay the copay. My recommendation is do a few more comparison and find someone who are not trying to upsell you and include charges that are "needed but not covered". The billing manager was rude. She hung up on me in the middle of conversation. read more

I went to Silicon Valley Optometry for about a decade from 2005 to mid-2010s. The main optometrist was light touch, always trying to upsell me on more imaging because my prescription was high. (Many years later, I saw an ophthalmologist, who was frank with me that while there was a low risk of my optic nerve separating, it was unlikely unless I was seeing curtains of floaties.) Dr. Wun was MIA for most of my care, and I typically ended up seeing the young junior optometrists (straight out of school, working part-time jobs at these types of places). At the time, there were a bunch of young opticians (straight out of college), who were pretty enthusiastic (set up systems for the office, the website, etc.) and frankly, they may have been the brightest spot of this office, except they are mostly long gone now. Note that if you deal with Sue, the office manager, she is a piece of work - while I was preparing for my eye surgery, the surgeon's office was paying for the prep work (dilation, etc.), and even despite my presenting the emails from the surgeon's office, Sue tried to charge me an additional $100 to cover these paid-for dilative services. It wasn't until I called the surgeon's office and had them speak directly with Sue that she backed down from insisting that I pay this fee. (No apology though, so you get what you get.) read more

We have been using Silicon Valley Optometry since 2013. My daughter wears hard contact lenses at night since middle school so she can be glasses free for the day time. Their staff are super nice and professional and always do their best to attend to our needs. For the last ten years my daughter has been very happy with Dr. Wen, and specially Sue. She learned how to take care of her hard lenses and how to take care of her eyes from Sue. Recently my prescription lenses I got from Costco had one side nose piece missing. I was trying to get the little parts replaced at Costco only to find out that their waiting time can be hours. I tried a few times and was really frustrated with the long lines and long waiting times. Luckily I contacted Sue and told her my situation. Sue was so nice that she assured me that she can help me fixing my missing parts on my glasses. The day I visited was a working day around the end of their business hours, and Sue was still busy attending other customers. She asked me to leave my glasses at the office and pick up the day after, so she could help me fix it when she's done helping other customers. This way I didn't have to wait for long time. I picked up my glasses the day after. Sue had already done putting a pair of new nose pieces for me! She also cleaned my glasses that they looked like new! I visited this office to re-new my mom's prescription and get a new pair of glasses for her. The staffs are very nice and friendly, perhaps the nicest staff I've ever seen in any other similar facility. Madhu and a couple of other staff members mainly interacted with us. They were all all very helpful and friendly. The details of insurance coverage and our options where communicated very clearly with us which is greatly appreciated. We found Dr. Lea very knowledgable and yet caring. She patiently conducted the eye exam and shared relevant important information with us as well. My two children have been visiting Silicon Valley Optometry ever since they were in elementary/middle school. They both use ortho-k lenses, and their eye vision has been kept quite stable and never had any complications over the years. They are both in their 20s now and are still Dr. Wun's patients. I made an appointment over the phone for an eye exam with them roughly 2 weeks ago. I came in today at the scheduled date and time only for them to ask me if I was sure I was at the right location because they couldn't find my appointment. I told them that I was positive and I had confirmed the address with the lady on the phone when I made the appointment. There was not a single other person in the waiting room and instead of offering to work with me or squeeze me in, they just told me there was nothing they could do but reschedule me in for an appointment in over a month. I'm extremely frustrated because I took time off of work for this appointment and now i'll have to take more time off because of a mistake on their end. Needless to say I'll be making an appointment somewhere else next time. read more

This year, I vowed to switch my routine from hurriedly dropping into some Walmart or Sight for Sore Eyes at the end of the year to use up our family's FSA allowance. I'm glad. Silicon Valley Optometry was a big step up. I had my eyes checked the way they're supposed to be checked, and with a follow-up visit too. And there's nothing nicer than being helped by people who have a large clientele of youth. They talk in whispers and after you read a line of letters, they praise you so lavishly you feel like it might be time for storytime or a nap afterward. Seriously, I got new contacts that I love and I have the peace of mind of knowing that my eyes are healthier than I originally thought (I spent my 20s wearing those older less forgiving contacts way too many hours of the day). read more

Sharing my objective feedback I was impressed by: - one stop shop for eye check up, glasses - Most of front desk staff are polite and professional with high work ethic Timely communication of glass delivery Very qualified doctors Wide selection of frames and glass design to choose from Entire staff stayed back even after the clinic had officially closed Suggestion to management to coach some staff to: - be mindful of customer's time (staff was on the phone, while I waited ) - after starting discussions, she came across as rushed - my full insurance option was initially not considered - front desk representative on phone was very rude when I politely requested the office to use secondary insurance to defray my out of pocket expenses - please take feedback from earlier eye care clinic of Dr Phan at Stevens creek - on day of eye checkup; one specific staff taking the eye measurements did did not do it correctly for 10 mins - I was being rushed through o accept a bigger framed glass - thanks to another staff manning the glass area; the right approach was suggested - on day of pickup , I asked question politely about new progressive glasses of does and don't - staff rushed through and returned to her desk. She did not explain that I have to be careful for about a week as I was using a highly priced progressive glass for first time - once I stepped out and started walking; I had difficulty with depth perception - it could have been a major issue and I had to be mindful and aware of adjusting my eyes Last but not be least; I am not trying to put anyone on the spot. Please call us ASAP at (408) 316 0103. My daughter needs her new lenses asap. We have been trying to reach this center for multiple weeks now. There is no receptionist, voice message regarding covid-19 adjusted schedule or arrangement to collect the lense. They suddenly shut down their services last month without prior notice or a timeline to collect the lenses. The lenses are sitting in their Cupertino office. They do not have the courtesy to ship it via fedex which would only cost them few dollars or tell us they are shutting down service. I feel like this place is very efficient. The front desk is kind and in general they get you in and out really quickly. My contacts are great and I don't have anything to complain about. I've seen 2 doctors here. I forgot the first one, but the other one I saw was Dr. Nguyen. I really liked her personality and how sarcastic and funny she is! The other one I wasn't exactly a fan of personality wise, but in general they got the job done and I have perfect vision with night contacts. One thing I noticed though that's different in other places is that they don't exactly sanitize their eye measuring machines before letting you use them, so I'm not sure how often they're cleaned. read more

What a nice find! Had 2 pairs of frames I needed to be fit with my new prescription. My experience couldn't have been more pleasant. The lady helping me let me know exactly what options I had in terms of lenses since one is being used as a back up. Best part? My glasses were ready in 7 days! YEY for not having to wear my back up back ups for that long because they are in fact... hideous. Loved the service, will be back next time my eyes need more $$ put into them. I pass by this office pretty often and decided to stop by while I was running errands on a Saturday afternoon. The office was somewhat busy but I was pleasantly greeted by the front desk. I told one of the girls that I already had an exam done recently and was interested in getting glasses. I wanted to see how much I'd be paying after insurance. On the spot, she looked up my benefits and was able to tell me what I was and wasn't covered for. She asked me what kind of RX I had and I told her that I was given bifocal RX. She explained the different options I had, whether I wanted lined bifocal or progressives and the difference between the two. I was sold on how knowledgeable and patient she was and was told that I could stop by anytime during office hours with my RX without an appt to proceed with getting glasses. I came back the following Saturday and the office was a bit busier than the last time I visited. The girl that helped me originally was helping another patient but recognized me immediately and had me get started with looking for a frame while she finished up with her patient. After, she came over to help me find something that I liked. I was down to 2 frames and she helped me decide the best one. After taking the necessary measurements she went over what kind of coatings and tints I could add and how much it would cost. She told me that it could take up to 2 weeks before they got my glasses back. To my surprise, I received a call a week later saying that they were ready to be picked up anytime without an appt. Again, I stopped by on a Saturday and was helped right away and my glasses came out great. They even provide a cleaning cloth which is nice since I always use my shirt :) OVERALL, I had a great experience and would definitely be coming back! read more

The renew price for the service keeps changing.  Today I paid the fee and left my teenage kid there for an eye exam. It happened the 2nd time that after I left, they told my son the charge was wrong and asked my son to pay more. When I suspected their price, they told me the fee has been there for many years, while from my last year's receipt, it shows the renew fee was less. This is the worst we had ever seen. The old lady asked me for over $1400 CASH payment which I paid. But within the paid service term, she continued to ask me extra money. Second, the contact was wrong size which caused my son serious infection in eye. Third, this office used another doctor without active license in CA (around 2011-2012). Fourth, when I requested copy of the contract, I found several areas being altered. Fifth, when I complained to this office, Dr. Wun just forwarded to his insurance company and the insurance agent acted just as a XXXX. My son got serious problem by the wrong contact, but the old lady refused to help us unless we paid extra money though still within the term of the contract. I left this ghost store, and seek alternative service. Eventually we got another one which is much much much better than this terrible one. read more

A lot of doctor turnovers in this place. Doctors seem to be too busy to take good care of younger patients. Very unprofessional. To make it worse, the front desk manager even pretended to be an knowledgeable medical personnel and kept on giving some very stupid opinions. I agree with some reviews here about the front desk ladies .They carry a we don't care attitude which is a definitely not an attitude anyone who visits wants to get. For a new patient they hardly give you any information you are looking for . They did not even want to dilate my eyes for the test. When I asked them bout it she just handed me the eyedrops and asked me to do it myself. I just wanted to get the process done with as I had already kept time aside for it . The appointment time was not kept and I had to wait infinitely till the doc saw her patients . Not impressed with their service the least .Dr Wun just does her job she just spent 5 minutes with me . I've been wearing hard contacts for 15 out of 22 years of my life, all thanks to SVO. I have an ear deformity that prevents me from wearing glasses, so we opted for hard contacts when I was in second grade. Ever since I came here, I've felt welcome, supported, and most importantly, heard. When I have eye irritations, Dr. Wun (my favorite optometrist - I always try to book my appointments for days she works) has me try on different sizes and explains why I'm feeling discomfort or why one size wouldn't work for me. My appointments last between 20 and 30 minutes, depending if I need to do yearly eye tests. Other: Plenty of parking outside. I never have to fight for a spot. Three optometrists on staff who are all multi-lingual. They send email reminders for your appointments. Waiting area is small, but there are rarely more people than seats and I believe the office space is going to expand soon. Cost is high but worth it! They are wonderful, attentive optometrists. Front desk attendants vary year to year, except for Sue, the office manager who's been there since I've started going here. I only interact with her to check in and book future appointments, and she gets the job done. read more

I had 2 glasses made by this office and both worked well. However the third glass frame was too tight. When I went to complain about it, the senior lady was not patient at all, just told me that I tried on in the office before deciding. When I asked her the size, she said it was 2 size smaller than the previous ones. I asked if they had a process to check the record before ordering the glass, she had nothing to say. I have been coming here for 10 years since I got my first pair of hard contact lenses from Dr. Kim (no longer works here) in 2003. The service has always been fast and informative. I have seen both Dr. Wun and Dr. Yang, and they are both fluent in English and Chinese. This is great because they can explain things to my mom more easily! The receptionists, Angela and Ethan, are extremely friendly and patient. I currently see Dr. Yang, and she makes me feel comfortable during the checkup and answers all my questions. I would like to add right here that the office went out of their way to fix my glasses this morning, and called me in ASAP to pick them up, which was most appreciated. (Otherwise I would be awaiting another week to finally use them). I think they realized there was an issue, and did their best to make up for it. Much appreciated - thanks to them. Below is the original review: I really hate to write a non-positive review - and I have been holding off for weeks, but now I feel I must put my experience out there - maybe this will help others decide where to go for new glasses. And I am saying new glasses, rather than eye exam, as the front of house service is where I experienced problems, not the actual exam, which I feel was good. I have been wearing glasses for almost 30 yrs, and was in the market for a new pair of Rx Sunglasses, as mine had broken beyond repair. I was hoping to get a new pair quickly, as I drive a lot and am outside every day, and I rely heavily on my Rx Sunglasses, esp in this sunny area. I'll start with the good things that happened. I called and SVO was able to get me an appointment the following day, which was great. Not a long wait, and Dr. Wun was very friendly and competent. She didn't waste time, but was thorough. She was kind to my 4 year old, who I needed to bring with me that day. After the exam, I was told to choose some frames. In the windows of the office, as well as inside, are gorgeous ads of super fashionable sepcs. I assumed that this selection would be represented in the office. Well, I was wrong. I was shown the options for sunglasses (which, to my understanding could be ANY frames, but I was only shown the frames with dark lenses in them). After seeing what they had available (not many), I asked about a catalog. I was told they do not use a catalog for some reason, and also if they were to order a pair, the customer needed to be 100% committed to those frames. (Not sure what that meant - how can I order a pair, if they do not have a catalog?). Next, I said that I was considering the round ray bans that are fairly popular right now. The employees did not know what I meant, so I pulled up some images on my phone to show them. They said, they did not have those. (In fact, the office has a GIANT poster on its outside window of the round ray bans!). I asked if they had anything round. This part is great - the woman who was helping me now proceeds to show me 2 pairs of VERY rectangular shaped frames. I didn't know what to say - but SHE said "these are round." Her colleague who was watching, shook her head. The woman insisted I try them on, but I just didn't care for them and had to awkwardly decline! Next, I think because I was starting to feel so awkward for them, I found myself APOLOGIZING for being picky. I told them that I realize I am picky, but I wear glasses and sunglasses every day - and this is something I wear on my face, so I really need to like it. They said nothing. I asked about one more frame and was told it was "for old people." ? The next piece of advice was for me to go to "sunglass hut" and buy frames, bring them back and then they would have them made for me. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to have them made. So now I'm thinking it will take at least one month - and my doing half the work for them. So, I finally ordered a pair of frames online, took them in, and am waiting another week or so. I decide to give them a call this AM, as I will be in that area, and thought I could swing by if they are actually finished. Guess what? The glasses were in yesterday, but the office "was too busy" to call and let me know, AND the prescription in the sunglasses is wrong. So now they need to be fixed, and another week of no sunglasses. Is this caring for a patient? In their defense, at least they checked the prescription before I came in, so that time was not wasted. I'm sorry to have to share this, and I have tried to write a balanced review, as nothing is all good or all bad. In general, a good Doctor, but poor service and really small selection. read more

Great customer service, Sue in particular is always willing to help find the right glasses as well answer insurance questions. They tried really hard and were the only ones out of 5 stores who found fitting frames for my then four-year old son whose face was so small he was between baby and kid sizes. They have always been patient with us to choose appropriate frames, and they repaired and adjusted my son's glasses a couple more times without charging us.
