It's always a leap of faith to trust someone with your car. A relationship with a trusted mechanic is sacred and scarce in a town that's always trying to squeeze every dollar from their client. I never got that feeling when I brought my car in to this random shop. At first I confused it with a car washing place but they share the space. I met with Paul the head mechanic and told him that I wanted a second opinion on some engine troubles. I'd say I'm a car guy but in reality I'm a car admirer. When Paul saw the S2000 I knew he was a car guy. Another shop quoted me a diagnostic fee and told me that there was a crack in the engine somewhere with details I never really understood. Where did the leak come from after the pressure test? Where is the crack? All things I got vague answers for but their solution was simple. Get another engine for $5000. Traumatized and depressed I opted for a second opinion and I'm glad I did. Not only did Paul put me at ease he also found the leak that was causing the engine issue. A small hose leaking coolant to cause the white smoke. I'm very appreciative that shops like this still exist and they deserve our support. The diagnostic fee was $80 compared to the $185 I paid at another shop Long story short do some research, get a second opinion and come support shops like these. read more

everytime i've been here i've left impressed at how efficient the service is. i was recommended by a coworker to get my inspection done here because they're super fast. i've done a few oil changes here as well because again they're speedy. no frills simple auto shop, but the guy is friendly enough and i don't feel like they're charging me an arm and a leg or taking advantage of me for being a woman who doesn't know cars. big ups for efficiency. for an oil change and inspection i was out of there in under 30 minutes. read more

I came here for my annual car inspection. They were quick to greet me and thankfully got me right in. Service was fast and efficient but admittedly this is an inspection, not brakes or other longer repairs. Overall, I was pleased with place and team. Even though the wait area is dated, it was comfortable with cold A/C. They are also very convenient to my home, which is a plus. read more

**NOTICE -- This shop is under new ownership as of a year ago or so** They no longer do most of the services listed. Looks like only oil changes. Nobody available to perform a simple oil change during peak business hours (Saturday, 2:15pm) and didn't have a common oil weight (0w30 in stock at Walmart next door and was readily available at another shop). I visited Friday and he didn't have 0w30, asked me to come back Saturday. I came back Saturday but he was not there and nobody was there to service the car, even though the shop was "open." Tried to give my business twice, just to waste my time. I recommend going to a professional shop that will have the proper parts and will treat you right. Edit: Dropped from 2 stars to 1 because the owner is obviously also dishonest. I was never asked to set an appointment, just "come back tomorrow." So disappointed in this mom and pop shop. It is owned by two brothers. I like to do business with local small business owners. They've inspected my car for several years & completed them in A timely manner. They recently changed my oil in a very short period of time without an appointment. I would have been at the dealership for sometimes several hours. They also checked other fluids. Etc. They always seem to be busy when I drive by. I highly recommend you consider using them. read more

For a quick drive out of the loop, you can get your oil change pretty much right away from my experience. I have also gotten a tire fixed here and didn't have to wait for hours like at discount tire. I'm pretty sure at I have never had to wait and they usually are done quickly. It's a small business and sometimes a one man show, but it's still pretty efficient. Also, if there is a wait, and you have some time to kill, you can drop your car off and walk across the street to watch a movie, go shopping or people watching at Walmart. read more

After getting yanked around at John's Auto Service (by the new owners) on Wirt, I decided to come here for some issues my 2001 Corolla was having. Gene is a pleasant if slightly cantankerous older Russian gentleman, but he sure knows his way around vehicles. I've been here multiple times, and he's always communicated clearly about how long the service will take, and what I can expect to pay. His hourly rate for labor is very reasonable, and he goes out of his way to keep repair costs down. The place can get busy (especially on weekends), so if you need something fast like an oil change, you might be better off going somewhere else. That being said, I highly recommend Gene if you're looking for a quality mechanic at a reasonable price. He takes his work and his business seriously (in a good way!). read more

The worst place I have ever been to.Called and Booked an appointment for my brakes to be changed. Went to the appointment and the guy there had no idea what I was talking about. waited for an hour and a half and then asked how long. I was told they were waiting on the part and will be another hour or two. The owner got there, told me to think smarter as these things take time. I told him how long i was there an had an appointment, he said yes that he did speak to me , (then started to shout at me) he left, came back with my car and told me to go somewhere else. I brought my Nissan in for a fix and had some of the worst customer experiences ever. Top 3 and I'm 40. This guy Paul who thinks he's some kinda big shot, needs to seek some help in simple customer relations. ZEEERRRROOOOOO. I asked him to offer me a discount on account of me "frequently" coming to the shop for repairs and what do I get? This is typically a yes or no answer but he seems already North of offended and replies "you only been here one time and you saying you been here lots before. I took it like ok, maybe this was a bad opening on a bad day, I need to just get the car fixed and go see to other matters. He fixes the car (He tells me 1 hr) and I get back to pick it up, it's ready which was a plus. I then asked him if he offered a warranty on his service which I find most places do. This sets him off again talking about what do I mean warranty? I explained to him that this is a very normal inquiry into any auto service. It's either a yes or a no. He then starts talking a whole bunch of things referring to how I had told him I had been here lots before ( I thought I had been there at least 2 times but don't recall). Then he says something about "we guys" or some generalization about conduct. I asked him to explain and he walks away arrogantly saying "No warranty for you!". Plain, just like that. I would advise those who run that shop to keep him but put him through some customer relations training because that's the last time I'm going there. read more

I've been doing my oil changes and inspections at this place for several years since they're in my neighborhood. After I spent upwards of $1500 at the VW dealer in repairs my check engine kept coming up. When I was up for an oil change I took it to Silber Auto and they asked me whether I wanted them to look at it. They had the faulty sensors repaired in less than a day for little over $200 and a year later the car is running without a problem. I went to this mechanic once upon moving to Texas for the state inspection. I will never go there again. I received some of the worst customer service I have ever received, in any industry. We needed some brake, tire rotation and oil filter change. Also needed bumper repair. We were passing by and saw this shop, took our car. Gene was extremely knowledgeable, kind and reasonable. He told us where to go for bumper. After that was done we came back to him and now my car runs like new. My last service at dealership did not make such profound diy.
