    Spaghetti Lobster
    Dante M.

Our first stop in London was to eat at Signor Sassi, which is known for their Italian food all over London! It is a favorite of many of the locals, and my dad insisted we try it out. On the walls of the restaurant, you can see all of the football players and managers that have been through: including first is no Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, Jose mourinho, etc. I got the spaghetti con gamberoni piccanti, which was a light seafood pasta that was pretty good. All of the ingredients tasted really fresh, but the pasta didn't seem to be handmade, which was something that I was expecting. My dad saw the pasta romana on the menu and asked if they could do a spaghetti amatriciana instead since they had most things on the menu, but unfortunately it did not come out as was hoped, and came out more of a spaghetti romana instead. Lastly, my brother got the spaghetti lobster, which he said was very good! I think the spaghetti lobster would definitely be worth to get, but the other two disused I would never order again. The service was also very much quality throughout the evening! Definitely a cool place to check out for its food and history.

This was a very bittersweet experience, on that called to mind Proust's "Remembrance of Things Past," since my family used to live across the street from this place when it was Les Trois Canards, or what we called "three ducks," and it was our home away from home for super dinners for any occasion, or no occasion at all. The owner of the Three Ducks sold the space in '84, and these guys moved in. I haven't been back since, but on a recent trip to London, I figured I should hit the joint for a meal for old time's sake. And I'm glad I did. The menu is extensive, and it's not cheap. But the setting and service are terrific, and the food was pretty darn good, so I'd say value for money received, at least from my POV. I had a cocktail, a shrimp dish, and a salad, along with a glass of wine. I was drenched in memories of the Three Ducks - not the same experience, but one that had me thinking I'd happily visit the place again on my next London trip.

This place has been around for ages and it seems they are a family of restaurants and have sister restaurants even in Bahrain and Qatar! They also have the sister restaurants around England in Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester as well. Also in the heart of Knightsbridge so good after or ore-shopping. The food is tasty and quite authentic Italian and so not yet affected by modernisation which is always a bonus to have Italian that actually tastes like you're in Italy! Service is a little slow and they are not as attentive as they were in the past. Also, when I booked I did mention we were celebrating a special occasion and they did not go out of their way to acknowledge that and it was ignored or forgotten! The bread tasted a little stale from the basket and hence not 5 stars as they don't top that up either which they used to in the past. They also charge the £2 per person cover charge so everyone is prepared in advance for that.

My friends told me this restaurant is really good, especially the lobster pasta. So I just want to try and have a good dinner with my bf. we tried crab salad and scallops on spinach as starter, and we think scallops on spinach is really good with black pepper. And lobster risotto and pasta are both good, worthy to have a try. I really like the dessert in the blue plate, it tastes like a milk custard, like it!!!

For a person from Milan it's like opening a door and finding yourself at home... I went for dinner with two friends and we had some olives and parmesan to warm up and fish ad main (shallots with bread crumbs and pescatrice - both delicious!) Coffee is also good! Some limoncello and chiacchiere (typical carnival Italian pastry)... I would definitely recommend this place!!

BEST SPAGHETTI!!! The tomato sauce is soo good. I was surprised I liked the lobster spaghetti and prawn spaghetti (spicy w/capers) as much as I did since I've liked both less as I've gotten older for some reason. The waiter mentioned the chef was using (I THINK) Marzano tomatoes which are evidently the best. Fantastic service, too. They are old-school Italians and make you feel at home!

Came here for lunch upon recommendation from a friend who ate here a couple years ago. Looked like a solid choice from the outside because it was packed full of people. We went in an were greeted by a friendly host who took our coats and seated us. The menu here is quite extensive, but we finally made some solid choices. We started with the Antipasto Romano which came with traditional roman antipasti of salami, parma ham, artichoke, olives and fried pecorino cheese. Can't go wrong with this. For mains, we ordered a meat pasta and fried calamari, scallops, etc. I wasn't too impressed with the pasta (sorry, the name of it escapes me). Of course, the fried seafood mix was very good. Service was lacking here. They were very slow with bringing out water, bread, the food. Although Signor Sassi is a decent place for Italian, there are many more places I'd rather go to.

This was the restaurant that finally converted me to loving olives, prior to that I hated them with a passion. Aside from that I rathered enjoyed my time here. The service was great and I got myself a nice Italian wine. The décor in here is wild with a acid trip LSD swag but I think that adds to the charm of the restaurant. I went during December so I'm not sure if it was suppose to be Christmas decorations? I got myself the lobster risotto and Mt friend got the fettuccine. Both plates were good and I left a happy camper.

Previously run and I believe owned by Mario of Scalini fame, this restaurant is tucked away of a fairly grubby side street of Knightsbridge but it one of the best. It has a loyal fan base and is used a lot by Italian families and a fair share of celebrities and sports stars - just look at the pictures on the walls. A very well tried and tested formula that a)works and b) is very good and c)good value for money. Menu doesn't change but it is that good that it shouldn't and a warm welcome is always assured. Food is typically Italian and I have never had anything like a bad meal in there, in fact it has always been top quality. Waiters are always happy and they sign a lot which is always funny and adds to a great lunch or dinner. Please make the time to go and eat here, it really is good.

Maybe it was because my expectation was too high. Nothing is special about their food. For the main course, we got the lobster risotto and spaghetti, which are supposed to be their signature dishes. However, both of them were disappointing. Service was terrible. We were seated in the corner and it always took them 5-10min to come and serve us. The bean salad and tiramisu were average as well.

However, I need to warn my fellow Yelpers to stay away from Oliveto if you value Good Pizza! I mean, how hard is it to have good pizza!?! It is a simple staple which I have enjoyed in the US, in China and yes even in Italy. At it's most basic, it should be dough, sauce (doesn't have to be tomato necessarily), mozzarella and maybe some toppings, right? Here is where Oliveto went wrong for my mother and me: 1) they use cheap cheddar cheese - not mozzarella! 2) not a lot of sauce, maybe just enough to color it 3) the dough was soggy and didn't rise (I actually like thin crust, but this was inferior doug and 4) topping that were not as advertised, i.e. prosciutto should not look like and taste like store-bought sliced ham! Service was okay - the men like to talk about customers in their native tongue, thinking that patrons don't know what they are saying about them. We were so glad that we split a pie - most tables got a pie per person. Neither of us could finish this "pizza" honestly. Perhaps the only redeeming thing are the prices - this might be the cheapest choice in an otherwise expensive neighborhood.

I tried a special pasta with pecorino, butternut squash, and mushrooms which was nice and not heavy but not partial flavorful. 3 - the ambiance is great if you like a small restaurant- with maybe 10 tables and 500 sq ft of space, this restaurant has character and charm. 4 - the service was outstanding. The staff were kind and efficient. 5 - the dessert was just OK - had some scoops of ice cream and the peanutella was outstanding while the strawberry and the pistachio were just fine. 6 - the appetizer cheese plate was the real highlight of the night here. It was a little plain. A little tasteless. They could have thrown a few spices into the meat, just a little something. To say that we've made better at home wouldn't be far out. But still good. The calamari was cooked just right. It's what you expect out of a calamari appetizer. Was it the best you'll ever have? Not really. Worth the price? Add it to your appetizer list!
