Recently, my husband and I flew in and out of this concourse. This concourse contained dozens of restaurants (e.g., Au Bon Pain, Cafe Versailles, and Starbucks) and dozens of stores (e.g., cosmetics, Duty Free Americas, Hudson News, NewsLink). We ate at Estefan Kitchen Express, Half Moon Empanadas, and Manchu Wok, and the foods, drinks, and service were fine. The only problem that we had was that the gate for our departing flight was changed a couple of times, and we had to pay close attention to the loudspeakers to find out the gate and then to walk a lot. The bathrooms were fairly clean.

They have these automated wheelchairs that constantly chimes. First, immigration was quick for us because we have Global Entry with the app. I highly recommend it. Second, after immigration, you need to go through customs and another security check that then separates you by your passport (US and non-US). The lines varies a lot. But this can add another 20-40 mins. Third, once you're finally out, the food here was by far the worse. I got a sandwich -called a Cuban sandwich - and it almost broke my teeth. It was so hard that I was confused why the bread was a brick. $19 down the drain.

We had no issues here during our recent trip to Miami. From a functional standpoint, I think it's fine. The longest line occurred when checking our bags. The line was so long inside that we actually went back outside and did curbside check-in. Even the employees there commented to each other that they had never seen curbside check-in so busy. Security was good (granted, we used CLEAR+ with TSA PreCheck) and the Delta Sky Club in the H-J Connector is nice. Concourses H and J are connected and part of MIA's more compact and navigable South Terminal.

It consists of 13 gates and is easily accessible to Concourse J (also part of the South terminal) by walking airside. The main carrier at this concourse is Delta, though United (which has a very limited presence here) and budget carriers Frontier and Spirit use it as well. Concourse J nearby services non-OneWorld international airlines like Copa, Caribbean Airlines, and Air Canada. The South Terminal has its own baggage claim area. One must exit to baggage claims (i.e. go landside) to be able to access the other terminals. Since American Airlines is the major carrier at MIA, I had to do exactly that to meet my brother (who was flying American). It can be done all inside (important since this is Miami), but it was a bit of a walk.

They have been dominating this sector for decades. My recent conquest was a trip to Antigua, located in the eastern caribbean and located in the Leeward Islands chain of the Lesser Antilles. I was seated in Business Class on the final leg from Miami to Antigua. The almost 3 hour flight was serving a hot lunch in the premium cabin. I had preordered the Beef Wellington and was skeptical as to how the dish would turn out at a cruising altitude of over 32,000 feet. When the dish arrived at my seat, I was truly surprised at how crisp and fluffy the pastry shell presented, enveloping a generous portion of meat. The entree itself came perfectly cooked with carrots, potatoes and asparagus. There was also a salad with greens, grapes and walnuts. Dessert was a small pecan pie/tart that was moist, not too seeet and tasty. My neighbor and I agreed that it was truly exceptional. On my return flight, from Antigua to Miami, in Business Class, I was again served lunch. Here, I chose the baked chicken with pesto sauce, potatoes, broccolini and tomatoes. The. Salad had spinach, greens and grilled red pepper. Another accompaniment contained an aioli with a grilled vegetable and walnuts. A hot assortment of bread rolls was also served. Dessert was a small slice of carrot cake which was moist, not too sweet, with a silky icing and extremely delicious. Overall, on both legs, my impression of food service in the premium cabin has had a drastic change. Both meals were served at the optimum temperature and were skillfully prepared and served. Easily the best meals I have had on American Airlines. Just so you know, I have traveled the premium cabin numerous times and the food has been unremarkable. Nothing to write home about. So what changed this time, to provide this high class dining experience in the air?

I've enjoyed the privileges of membership, which mostly is the exceptional level of service provided. The MIA D30 Admirals Club seems to have some nice people working there as well, especially Alexandra at the Check In desk. Unfortunately for Alexandra and her colleagues, the place is run by the miserable Catarena (she refused to provide her last name or any other identifying information and stated "just tell them Catarena in M-I-A Admirals Club"). We were connecting on a flight home via MIA and had some family with us. We went to the club at D15 and hung out there for about 30 minutes. We chose to move over to the D30 club, as our gates were much closer to that lounge. We arrived and my wife did not have her AAdvantage credit card with her. I showed the check in counter at D15 her card on the Citi app and they said it's no problem. We went over to D30 expecting a similar experience...but the polar opposite. Alexandra let me know she needed the Supervisor to make an exception. She didn't think it would be a problem, especially since the D15 club just let us in. Catarena came over with a negative attitude right from the start. It was apparent that she is one of the people who hates doing her job. I explained the situation to her and about how we had just come from the lounge at D15. She said she'd call them to "check" (as if I was lying). She said they don't remember letting us in, and said they let someone in with five kids and no one else so she could do the same. I explained we do my had five kids in the group. I also asked for the name of the person she spoke with. "You have my name, right? YOU asked for MY name, right? That's enough." I asked Catarena if she was going to help us. She refused to answer the question and kept going round and round with no answer and the stupid smirk on her face...you know it...the one terrible people in Customer Service use when they've "won" by upsetting a loyal, repeat patron. Catarena NoLastName finally set me off with her stupid smirk and disingenuous "have a nice day" in the most annoying and condescending voice. I gave her some choice words, wished her a terrible rest of her miserable life, and walked out with my family. Note: this club is the anomaly...it's horrible because they have a worthless Supervisor (Catarena NoLastName) working there...most Admirals Clubs are absolutely phenomenal!
