The lounge was under renovation last and I couldn't go there for a while. I was excited to try it when it opened. This is much better than the Turkish lounge in MIA which is always crowded and a bit far from the gates. Avianca lounge is very spacious, offers great views of flights and has decent food options. It is pretty quiet considering how many people were there. I went late morning so they had arepas and eggs for breakfast in their QR code order menu. This lounge is located across from J6 and is a short walk to Terminal H. When you go up the escalator and turn to the left, go to the end of the hall because the other 2 lounges are for other airlines and businesses. Entering was so simple and easy. We chose a 3 top by the window to watch the planes. There's a QR code on each table where you can order hot items to your exact table. I ordered the tortellini, the hubs ordered pesto penne, and my sister ordered the BBQ. All of the items were delicious. The salad bar was plentiful and the soups were so delicious. There is also a self serve bar and pop in the fridges. You can also find desserts in the fridge and they were so yummy. read more

This is for the refurbished air Portugal avianca lounge. It's in front of J6 for Star Alliance and priority pass. We were actually flying on AA but had a long layover. I'm glad we came and wish this was in the D concourse! There is a QR code for small bites. It's a much better food selecting than the anemic admirals clubs in D and the Turkish lounge in D-E is always so crowded. Anyway, great space and option! read more

Avianca Lounge and Avianca airlines have to be one of the worst. I was not allowed in the lounge because they were full. I was just one person and my flight was delayed 6 hours!! How they handled it made a difference.. the airlines. .. they kept changing the flight every hour.. the boarding had to be the most tedious process.. my flight was 6:15 PM and never left until 10:PM.. at the front desk they keep calling peoples names.. clearly, they are over booked.. avianca never again!! read more

Missing glasses for drinks. Upon asking, the staff explained their problems - a no-go. The buffet, which only offered a few dishes, wasn't continuously refilled, so the selection was often incomplete. The noise level was so loud that normal conversation was impossible. The drinks selection included beer, white/red wine, and a few spirits - this isn't an international standard, which includes at least sparkling wine and champagne. This lounge is located in Miami International airport. I've used it multiple times due to being a priority pass card holder. It's decent in food and drink options. They usually always have a salad bar, soup option, some kind of sandwiches, and a dessert or two. In drinks they have many beverages including cold or hot drinks. I usually use their coffee machine for a latte or cappuccino. They tend to have busy times and seating can be limited but you can still find a seat somewhere. They don't have power outlets with many seats. So, have your devices charged from before. They keep the lounge well maintained with constant plate and cup pick up, restocking food items etc. Overall, this lounge fairs better than some other lounges within this airport. ~ read more

I thought there would be a star alliance lounge at this airport. Like an actual "star alliance lounge", not an airline affiliate of star alliance. We ended up at the Avianca Lounge. So my expectations were high. The lounges are not on any of the airport maps, so we had to figure out where it was using broken English to communicate with the airport staff. People don't speak English is Miami. My bad, I should have known. Take the Avianca Lounge check in lady for example. Everyone in my family has enough status on United to enter affiliate lounges. On top of that, my parents have life time membership to United clubs, which also allows for guests. We hand the check in lady all our credentials and she is so confused because she has to communicate with us in English that it takes several minutes to get in. Free alcohol and very dated furniture. I guess it's a cheap place to get lit before your flight. Idk. read more

Had a great experience here! Ventured here all the way from the Delta terminal (terminal H at MIA), which is a bit of a hike but totally worth it for the Avianca Lounge. I was flying out on a Saturday evening before Christmas and the lounge was PACKED, but I was greeted at the reception desk with a smile and enjoyed excellent service throughout my experience. Background: I used my Priority Pass membership to get in. Perhaps I was really hungry from venturing around South Beach all day, but I was incredibly excited for the food. There is a great selection here - salads, soup, standard snacks like pretzels, hummus, finger sandwiches, desserts, and what I was most thankful for: a HUGE, hot pot of Orange Chicken and accompanying yellow rice. There's a self-serve liquor station, and a giant cooler loaded with a variety of soft drinks and cold beer. Excellent service as they had staff refilling food and cleaning tables non-stop. There were also tons of other nooks to relax, watch TV, and work besides the main lounge area. The restroom is plain and not sexy sleek like some other lounges, but it is clean and fits your needs. Definitely worth the trek even if not flying international and I look forward to coming back soon! read more

We had a bit of a dispute on entry with barely pleasant counter staff. The fact is that this place can't cope with the volume of customer footfall and the staff become irritable trying to cope. We, on the other hand, were so tired and not in the mood to be messed with. Anyway after frankly explaining our situation with a manager who was insensitive, and in the wrong business, we were sorted out by a lovely Cuban lady manager who remained pleasantly attentive to us throughout our stay. We've been here before and the food was similar to before. The hot soup was delicious and the roast turkey was excellent too. They had Japanese stir fried vegetables but I gave them a miss. Likewise the serve yourself beer and wine supplies were good. It's all entirely satisfactory here. food and drink wise. It's also fairly comfortable and the staff who clean and keep the place spick do so frequently. The WiFi was darn good too. read more

The Avianca Lounge is in the J Concourse of the South Terminal of the Miami International Airport. It is located right next to the VIP Lounge. You can access the lounge using the escalators or elevator to the 2nd floor of the Concourse. If you are flying out of the country using any foreign airlines these are the two lounges you can use yet the service of the Avianca Lounge is so much better compared to the VIP Lounge. We used the Avianca lounge on our recent trip to Bucharest flying via Swiss and used our Priority Pass to access the lounge. The lounge is well set up with free wifi and charging stations for the passengers. There are plenty of great food options. Soups and sandwiches along with salad and a couple of dishes like Rice and Chicken are available along with a wide range of drinks. We usually get to the Miami airport early as international flights are required to so getting to the lounge is relaxing and this one is a 5 star lounge I would recommend to all the readers of this review. read more

The Avianca Lounge was a solid find in the Miami airport. Even though the lounge is in the J wing of the terminal it's worth the 10 minute walk from the United Gates which are over on the H wing. The lounge was crowded as it serves all of the Star Alliance carriers in the terminal, but seating was available and the variety of food solid, especially compared to what is usually provided in the United Club. I was also impressed by how frequently the lounge staff serviced both the food area and the tables. While the food itself won't win any culinary awards, the vegetable soup and turkey breast were good. While I wouldn't consider the lounge an oasis like the ANA lounge in Tokyo or Singapore Air lounge in Singapore, it did provide a welcome respite from the busy Miami airport terminal and I will return. read more

As there is no United Lounge and we are *G flying FC we were directed here. Very well laid out lounge with plenty of good food options to choose from. As we were there near Thanksgiving they had roasted turkey, gravy and herb stuffing. Many different types of sandwiches were also available on freshly cut bread. Not my idea of fun but I wanted to relax a bit. It was definitely crowded at first. Once a flight or two left, it was relaxing. They had, for a South American airline lounge, Grolsch! Woo hoo! Plus that had some tasty vittles. This really surprised me. I've been to some airline lounges and they had pretzels and peanuts with maybe a pastry thing. Avianca had decent food, solid selection of soft drinks, and pretty good beer. One spot which was cool was a relax area. Figured it'd be a faux pas to snap a pic but it was off to the side with some lounger seats, dim lights, and liked peaceful. Because my travel was starting, I didn't need to use it but I could've enjoyed that at my layover in Germany. Definitely a better lounge that the AA one I visited at MIA. read more

For some reason, flights to Colombia tend to be at obscure times. 2:00 am for a three and a half hour flight? Why not! That being said, it takes a lot to keep me awake to leave in the middle of the night, so I decided to head to the airport on the earlier side and hang out at the Avianca lounge to watch Netflix while I waited to board. Turns out, that wasn't a half bad idea! I got in with my Priority Pass thanks to AMEX. The lounge is rather big and open, with plenty of tables and couch seating all around. There are a few big screen TVs along the walls but no sound was coming from them. I'm sure you can maybe ask for that. The food wasn't anything to write home about. A few finger sandwiches, pretzels, and by the time I was leaving, breakfast foods (again, such a weird time!). I wasn't hungry and more thrilled to see the completely open bar (think liquor and wine bottles just SITTING there for fair game) and fridges stocked with lots of water, juice, soda, and the like. They announced over the intercom when flights were boarding which was nice. There was plenty of staff cleaning up after tables which was good too. All in all, this is no Centurion lounge, but will certainly fit the bill if you're looking for a cozy place to escape to in this terminal. read more

My husband and I had a long layover and decided to check out this lounge. It was $35ish per person to enter with unlimited snacks and drinks. The snack section was decent - I loved the hummus and chips! - and it was nice to have a lighter meal before our flight. The alcohol selection was pretty darn good actually - an assortment of liquor, one or two white and red wine selections, and probably 3 or 4 types of beer. We relaxed, charged our electronics, and enjoyed the sunshine coming in from the large windows. I think we must have been there for 2 or 3 hours, maybe a little longer, and it was well worth the spend. I would definitely stop in again on a long layover. read more

This is the better of the two priority pass lounges in MIA for a full meal. Only issue is that it is much smaller and fills up really quickly during the meal hours. Was really busy and a bit cramped so we didn't stay too long after eating. Self service drinks and they have whiskey which was a huge plus when stuck. read more

This is a good little lounge! It's not the best lounge by any means and there are no luxury amenities but it does offer plenty of usable spaces to rest, relax and be productive before your flight. And the best part, this lounge is part of the Priority Pass Lounge network. The lounge is located in Concourse J, adjacent to gate J4. I'm not sure about the rest of the airport but it looks like only Concourses J and H are connected airside (after security). That means, only passengers departing from these two concourses will have access to the lounge. The lounge is open 24 hours a day but access may be restricted for Priority Pass member during peak times. The lounge is never restricted for those Star Alliance Gold members or premium cabin passengers traveling on any Star Alliance partner flight. The lounge offers a main seating area with plenty of comfortable seating options from armchairs and couches and a long bar table along the wall and windows. The medium size lounge is bright, airy and feels very spacious. If you need to be productive before boarding your flight, there is a quiet business center located in the back with desktop computers and plenty of space to spread out and work. If you just want to relax, there is a relaxation room with recliners and ottomans. There's also a kid's room with kid-friendly furniture and a TV with children's programming. Password protected WiFi is provided throughout the lounge. During my morning visit, there was a selection of both hot and cold food items such as sandwiches, eggs, potatoes, sausages and other snacks. The food was nothing special. This lounge stinks. Not literally, it actually smells nice. But the food is garbage, with the one highlight being grape soda and makes mark 46 at the bar. If nothing else I expect a lounge to be a nice retreat away from the gate. But with maybe families and many kids under 10 this place was a zoo. Some families were 2 adults and 4 kids under 7. Good luck controlling that. Dora the explorer played on max isn't my favorite way to decompress before a long flight. Back to the food. Dry buns, terrible finger sandwiches and hot plate food that looks like the just top it up as it needs refreshing, not take it away and clean it out. Just get drunk on the premium bourbon? There is a decent lounge with a selection of drinks with and without alcohol, various snacks and a little hot. It is for Star Aliance and Priority Pass. The venue is clean and well maintained, you can sit watching fly through windows, working in a private room with data etc, separate playroom for the little ones, a lot of newspapers and magazines. Waiting at the Miami International Airport while I attempted to visit the Avianca VIP lounge. I was told they were at capacity and to wait closer to my boarding time. The amount of time we were allotted to stay was 4 hours at the lounge and the woman at the front desk told us to go back an hour before our flight time. This was ridiculous as we had planned to have a relaxing time to spend in the lounge before our flight. I visited the lounge again an hour later and before I even entered the doors the woman shouted "NO!" at me. THIS IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I proceeded in asking if we can enter as we have watched many people leave the lounge. She claimed that they were still at capacity and that only business class could enter. I have signed and paid for a credit card with these additional benefits to enter the lounge and this woman was withholding that from me because I was not business class. As I was walking out a customer from the lounge was leaving and overheard our conversation. She told us that she spoke the same way to her and did not allow her to enter until 2 hours before her flight. As she came down, she told us that the lounge was HALF EMPTY! This does not sound like capacity to me and this woman is power tripping all the clients who are not business class and withholding our right to enter. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE and gives a bad name to Avianca AND Miami International Airport - MIA read more

I have to say I really enjoyed my first airport lounge experience! We got here before the lunch rush and were able to secure seats in the "quiet area". This area has reclining seats, a stool to prop your legs up on and rest, reading lamp, outlets and a side table for your food/drinks - much better than the other area that gets loud and crowded. There is a self service bar with your standard spirits, wine, canned beer, bottled water and sodas. During the time we were there, they served both breakfast and lunch which were a small selection of buffet foods - nothing amazing but better than your typical overpriced airport food. Overall a nice place to tucker out for a couple hours during a layover, I would especially recommend going during international travel as that sometimes is not the most enjoyable. read more

Absolutely awful lounge and staff. As a Priority Pass member, I was treated with legitimate prejudice, and was initially not allowed in. After much arguing, we were grudgingly let in, after which, the staff are blatantly rude, and you will be rushed to leave. Overall a terrible experience, and will avoid this lounge and airline at all costs in the future. Also for Priority Pass members, please keep in mind the treatment you will receive. During dinner time they offer hot frankfurters, soups, wild rice - that's among hot snacks; make your own Caesar salad, (can be with chicken), olives. Nachos, hummus, peanuts. Few varieties of sandwiches (chicken, tuna, mozzarella) with different kind of bread, including baguette and croissants. As for sweets: donuts and brownies, fruit salad. Full bar, featuring red and white wine, few beers and some hard liquors. No champaign or sparkling. 2 coffee machines, but my latte tasted like hot chocolate though. Hate this place. Priority pass says this lounge accepts it however they said they dont until 530pm and does not want us sitting in front of them while we figured things out. So fucking rude. We were just there for a minute trying to clear things out since theres 4 of us but they kept interrupting us to tell us to get out until 5:30pm when they can accept priority lounge. I like this lounge. The staff are so nice unlike another VIP lounge in the same Airport. The food and beverage offerings are OK , but the atmosphere because the staff and the customers looks like better and not so snobby. The other lounge is very stingy about who they let in. Flight was at 5pm (no available flight left). Came at 11:30am from a cruise. The staff at avianca told us its too early. (Note they said they were open 24hours). Told us to come back 3 to 4 hours before the flight. We came back around 3pm and stated they weren't accepting priority pass customers anymore. (Also noted that the lounge was practically empty). If my companion wasn't injured and could walk to terminal F I wouldn't waste my time with them. read more
