I've tried their guava cheese danish and most of their different lattes since this was the only coffee place near my Airbnb. The cheese danish was wonderful and tasted fresh. Every drink ive had (caramel is my favorite so far) has been consistently good. I wish they stayed open after 5 so I could try their cakes for dessert after dinner. The baristas are very kind and welcoming, and the behind the counter banter has been consistently kind and set a good mood in the shop. We arrived shortly after Sift opened at 7am on Saturday and there was already a short line (~10 min). Everything we ordered was good but not so great that we'd wait in a longer line: + Cheese & Guava Danish ($4.50): Good but a little dry and not as fresh as I'd expect for first thing in the morning. + Ham and Cheese Croissant: This was the least memorable. + Ham Quiche ($9.50): This was the best thing we ordered--super delicate crust, fluffy eggs, good flavor. I often travel Westerly, RI, and finding good, independent coffee shops and bakeries can be few and far between. One of the places that is a top notch coffee shop and bakery, and my favorite, is Sift Bake Shop. Over my last two trips to Westerly, RI, I went there multiple times. First, their coffee is great and food is excellent. They have a wide variety of pastries, plus some sandwiches. They also have macaroons and cakes. I have ordered both their chocolate croissant and raspberry croissant. They are both good, but I would recommend the raspberry croissant. The last time I was in Westerly, RI I tried their chicken salad sandwich. The chicken was tender and the sauce was creamy and delicious. The sandwich came with a small bag of Cape Cod chips included in the price. I have gotten both iced lattes and iced coffee there. They are both good. One note of caution, their flavored lattes can be very sweet. Second, the service is good. The coffee shop is small and often is busy. The staff is friendly and they do a good job of the moving the line without being pushy or rude. Third, the interior is simple, but bright and classic. The shop is well lite. The white counter also brightens up the shop. In sum, this is a must visit coffee shop and bakery when you are Westerly, RI. read more

Sift was such a wonderful surprise to stumble upon! On our vacation we actually went 2 times, which is crazy because normally I want to try as many places as I can, but I have to say this bakery was so good it was worth a repeat visit! My favorite was the sea salt walnut choc chip cookie, a huge soft cookie! We have been wanting to come to Sift for quite a while. We finally had our chance and enjoyed a variety of their treats. From coffees to pastries, assorted desserts to sandwiches, Sift definitely has everything that you could ask for. It was all absolutely delicious without a doubt! I would say that my favorite was either the cheesecake or the sticky bun that I got. Easy 5 stars. Clearly best pastry shop in the area with world class French style - but modernized - pastries but Sift would be among the top places in Manhattan NYC. Super modern and clean "shop" with vast selection, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and fine coffee and espresso. Many of the items are enough for two people. Living nearby my only problem is coming here too much or I will have to up my membership in the gym. read more

SIft is the best. We hit the shop in Mystic every time we are in the area, so it was great to find the satellite shop here in Westerly/Watch Hill. Ok. The bakery was quaint, but not worth the money. The chai was good, the staff was friendly, the service was quick. All good things. The macarons were overpriced and bland. I'm a macrons snob. Sorry, but they weren't great. All the flavors just tasted like sugar and if you closed your eyes and didn't see the colors, the only one you could tell which was which was the peanut butter and jelly one, which had more flavor, but still not great. Love Sift and everything they offer but the Watch Hill location is nothing like their main location in Mystic. Very small and they always run out of items very fast. On this particular day, I ordered the butterfly lemonade and Caprese sandwich for lunch. The lemonade looked very pretty but it was very watered down and tasted like straight water. The Caprese sandwich had hardly anything on it and the bread was so hard you could break a tooth. I ended up throwing out most of it and was out about $18 read more

They staff is helpful, friendly and extremely patient while you are "still trying to decide" on which beautiful pastry to get. I realize I've got problems when I wake everyone up at 7:30 saying I want to drive up 100 minutes to Sift to have breakfast on the beach with that delicious cookie. So we do it and find Sift is closed for the season. So then we drive down to Mystic because that cookie craving just had to be filled. So if you're reading this -- this Sift location is only seasonal, though it didn't say that on their website. But when we visited on Labor Day it was 5 star perfect deliciousness -- the coffee, the lemonade, croissant and my best find of this summer-- their delicious chocolate chip walnut sea salt cookie. My family and I are headed to Maine for vacation and so we stopped in Mystic, Connecticut as a halfway stop. My friend had recommended Sift Bakery so we were eager to try it. Upon arrival the line was around the corner so we thought we'd try their location in Watch Hill, RI. We just left and were so disappointed. First it was just a walk up and order place. No fun of walking in and seeing the yummy treats. Then it got worse when they didn't have the items on the menu we had read about and were looking forward to. The treats we got were good but not as good as expected. I had ordered a blueberry scone but when we got to the car it was just a plain scone...so boring. It was hard to choose what to buy here. Everything looked SO delicious. We settled on the smoked turkey croissant, vegetable croissant, chocolate raspberry croissant, and almond croissant. My husband and I had dinner at Olympia Tea Room in Watch Hill and picked up dessert at SIFT a few doors down. The brownies are to die for!! So fudgy and moist with just enough nuts. Excellent Chocolate Walnut Sea Salt cookies! And surprisingly one of the best Iced Mocha Coffees I've ever had! Starbucks who?? Love that Sift is in this location. If you have the chance to go, the cinnamon sugar ebbioche, the rosemary focaccia and the chocolate croissant are perfect. The sandwiches are really tasty too. Great quality bakery with a small but excellent selection. After reading an article about it in the journal, I invited a friend all the way from providence to come to check it out. The staff is friendly but could be more sophisticated in terms of appreciating their own products or suggest customers to appreciate their goods by offering to serve them in the ideal condition. I ordered a "smoked salmon sandwich on freshly baked croissant". It came out of the fridge. Understandable for food safety reasons. But I asked for it to be on a plate. So you would think the staff would ask me if I want it re-toasted. Nope. I sat down and took a bite. Yikes. Cold, dull, stale tasting croissant. I immediately went back to request it to be toasted. Because it would be an insult to the bakers to eat their wonderful creation in such substandard condition. The re-toasted croissant tasted heavenly. Perfection. That's why I don't even have a picture cause I ate it before I even had a chance to take a photo. LOL. We also ordered a classic bakery item the opera cake. Nicely done. The $4 baguette however, is more like a dense Italian bread in the shape of a baguette. The dough has a slight sour taste to it, which gives it some complexity. Now, I know the owner had been trained in France, and I'm no expert at French baking techniques. But from my 10 years living in Quebec and my "dedication" of getting up early every morning to buy the fresh baguette du jour whenever I'm in France, I know this is not the same baguette I get in France - with crusty outside yet airy n chewy inside. Will I come again? Yes - if I'm in watch hill area. But I won't be making a special trip just for it. read more

What a bakery!!! Their filled croissants are not to be believed! They are huge puffs of light buttery scrumptiousness! They also had peanut butter cookie sandwiches, muffins, and baked breads. The coffee was delicious. I had a regular and my husband the americano. I would have had the mocha but they were out of chocolate. Definitely go here if you are in Watch Hill. read more

This place was highly recommended while I was visiting beautiful Watch Hill, my favorite place to visit in the summer. I opted for the chocolate and almond croissant. Judging from the reviews on Yelp this place allegedly offers delectable croissants and great coffee. The chocolate croissant was not fresh but dry and the almond croissant was in my humble opinion gross And I ended up throwing out. The cream or I rather say whip cream textured made the croissant soggy and not edible. In retrospect I should have gone for the blueberry scone Overall a highly disappointed experience. Sorry but I fail to see the hype. One assumes because there is a line, it must be good but this place proved that doesn't seem to be the case. While Watch Hill offers the most beautiful beaches and sunsets in the US, it certainly fails at providing good food choices and options. Maybe the NYC gal in me is spoiled at home. Will always visit Watch Hill but can't say I will buy again from Sift. read more
