Our goodies from the chocolate shop in Nevada city. They are sitting on the bedside table of our room.

We so enjoyed our weekend. Teen challenge runs this hotel. We were treated with such kindness and respect and definite concern for our comfort. It was a peaceful weekend. Definitely will go back should I be in that area again. It's not far from Nevada city where you can go to a wonderful chocolate shop.

First time here and I'm so impressed of how cute this place is, room had everything we need and more we had a 2 room suite each room had tv, it was clean and spacious, beds are comfortable, Kids love playing right outside our room. Is so close from the highway but feels and looks so in the woods. But the best thing here was the food rustic table does have the best clam chowder soup, the fish tacos so yummy and to say that I'm not a big fan of Mac and cheese, But the one my son had with brisket was delicious. Staff are so friendly and Steve the dog is a cutie.

What a wonderful experience! The staff was amazing and made our stay so comfortable, it didn't feel like we were away from home! The lodge is situated right off the hwy and really easy to find. It's still pretty quiet even though it's near the hwy and has a restaurant at the far end of it. Our room was nothing super fancy but it provided all of our basic and most desired needs: clean room/bathroom, enough towels, the bed was comfy and cozy, cable tv, wifi, great pillows and comforter, heated well, view of snowy mountains from bathroom, and best of all, we got to play out back in the snow, without having to pay for a SnoPark. Our family will certainly be booking here again. Oh, and just a note, the room didn't have a fridge or microwave so we just pack our cooler with ice from the restaurant to keep our yummy leftovers.

The staff at the lodge was absolutely incredible! We got caught in a major snowstorm driving from SFO to RNO thanks to a cancelled flight. They shoveled a spot for us to park, and dug our the car in the morning. No other hotel would be so caring. They had everything we needed (jackets, gloves, window scrapers) and didn't gouge us, it was serious a blessing! There is an attached restaurant with great food and an espresso bar! A hidden gem! Our accidental visit definitely created a future intentional visitor. The beds were comfortable (foam mattress) the pillows were too, several different to choose from. Room 8 was a double queen and had a brilliant walk in shower that was exactly what I was needing and definitely didn't expect from a small 13-14 room lodge.

Outside

The staff here are amazing ! A storm came in and were able to make it to the lodge. When we arrived we got stuck in the snow in front. We went to check in and the staff was so welcoming and reassuring . After check in they immediately helped dig our car out . When we got to our room it was nice warm and cozy. They also have a restaurant attached so we were able to get dinner. We are so grateful for the men here !!! thank you so much

We have been here twice and it was perfect for our young kids. We just played in the back and stop in our room to rest or go to the restaurant for food or hot cocoa. Location is a plus for us especially during storms. It is just above the snow line from the bay are so we don't have to drive as long in the snow. Food is good and the portions are really big. The silver dollar pancakes are the size of my face. The service is fantastic. Everyone has been really nice and helpful. We left our iPad in one of the room and they helped us find it (it fell behind the headboard) and they are mailing it back to us!

Clean room, comfortable

My bed was comfortable and the internet worked. The price of the motel room was very affordable, and the bathroom was bright and clean. When I took a bath, the water was nice and warm! The staff were helpful and friendly and the prices at the restaurant were shockingly affordable, and the food was good. Every employee I encountered was helpful and polite. I would stay here again.

Our family decided to do a quick trip to the snow. We stayed at this lodge after a day at a resort near by. Upon arrival the staff was friendly. When we checked into our room, the room was clean, cozy and felt comfortable. There is the restaurant attached to the lodge. We ordered for in room dine in. Food was yummy and decently priced! We would definitely come back!

Our room had a full sized bed and also a bunk bed. The amount of space was just enough for the 2 of us. The bathroom is a little small, specifically the shower but since we're small people it was fine. Check-in is contactless--they send you info on how to check in and where to park the day before your arrival. I really appreciated how fast they responded to requests and concerns. I texted them twice about a light bulb and also about the door code not working and someone was there to fix both issues within a few minutes. Also, the breakfast spread in the morning was really good! They had a coffee machine, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, granola bars. In addition there was an also a different burrito or sandwich plus pastry for us to grab each morning.

Situated near Donner Lake, the Inn is perfectly situated to be close to the famous Donner Historic Park (just a few minutes up the freeway) and also the beautiful Donner Lake beach area. There is also a great little pub across the street from the beach area, too. Downtown Truckee is also just a few minutes down the freeway. And, although it wasn't snow season yet, it's also close by the Donner Ski area. The property as some parking spots that are convenient to the lodging rooms. The family run lodge has no-frills style breakfast take-away items - such as boiled eggs, yogurt, granola bars, and also some featured made items (scones and breakfast burritos), but be aware it's available from around 7:30a (and our hikes had us leaving earlier than that). The rooms are "self-check" style, so be prepared to read your follow up communications from the managers w/your check in process. The rooms are simple but clean - featuring a controlled temperature stovepipe style fire place and window seat overlooking the forest behind the lodge. There is also a small stream on one side of the property. All-in-all a great spot that's convenient and less crowded and less-pricey than most spots in the Truckee area and the rooms are quaint and rustic but nice, too.

I really wanted a quaint place to stay for my birthday and I'm really glad we chose The Pines Inn…read moreand Cottages. Upon first arrival we saw the place had festive Halloween decorations, which I love. Tony immediately came out and greeted us, then directed us to where to park. He then gave us a quick tour of our room, then gave us a tour of the rest of the outside areas. I love how personal Tony was and his genuine enthusiasm in showing his establishment. After we had settled in, we were able to inspect the cottage and it was ideal for two people. Everything was exceptionally clean. The kitchen had utensils, dinnerware, and cookware. The bathroom was also in good condition. The only inconvenience encountered was from my husband (as he is a tall individual) that the toilet area was slightly cramped. We were told that our rooms bed was just upgraded to a king size. Let me tell you, that bed was big and ridiculously comfortable. We both slept so good, we couldn't stop talking about how comfortable it was. As we left for dinner the ambiance of the place was truly enchanting. The beautiful lights created a magical environment, and the canopy with the projector added to the inviting atmosphere. He had kindly opened some wine for us, and we helped ourselves to it upon our return. Tony asked us before he left, what we would like for breakfast. I opted for toasted bagel w/ cream cheese & honey yogurt. My husband asked for avocado toast with fresh fruit. The next morning, he delivered our breakfast to our room. To say we were shocked at how good and fresh everything was, would be an understatement. We certainly plan to visit again in the future. Thank you, Tony, for your wonderful hospitality.

Happy vibes here with an outdoor garden area and lots of seating even lounge chairs. In front of each room is also a table and two chairs for dining al fresco. Pretty spot though you hear the traffic going by when outside. Inside the room it is faint. I liked that my room was one level (nobody upstairs). However, I had a neighbor in the next room who got up at 5am and was heavy footed and had a dog. The noise they made traveled into my room. They woke me up and kept me awake way before I planned to get up. Noise level depends on who ends up next to you. Luckily they were not there for my entire stay. The room was just right and I like the way it looked and the covenience of a kitchen with a full size fridge and stove top and microwave. I bring my own pans. I am glad because I didn't like the pans in the room. I appreciated that the fridge didn't make hardly any noise. Less than mini fridges in most hotels!! Bed was comfortable and management was reachable via text message and provided information via texts that was helpful. Beautiful trees on property and I liked that behind my room was left unmowed-good for nature and made it private. I also loved that the windows opened (four windows in the room (on both sides). I'd definitely stay at The Pines Inn again.

They do host a happy hour a couple doors down at Boomtown and depending on when you are staying, you may catch trivia night. Coffee and breakfast are pretty much right outside your door.
