I just moved from California and I made an online appt for the Double Diamond Pkwy location. I chose the DL/vehicle multi appointment. Scheduling the appointment online was easy and I for multiple reminders via text and email for my appt. On the day of my appt (which I made for 8:00 am) I showed up 10 minutes early and lines were already forming. They were split into an appointment and non appointment line. Representatives came out 5 minutes before opening to make sure people were in the right lines, had correct forms and to ask everyone with appts to check in via the text that came through. The text message gave you the option to press 2 stating that you had arrived for your appt. They told us once we checked in to take a seat in the lobby. The facility was very clean and quite spacious. I only had to wait about 5 minutes before my name was called over an intercom and told me what window to proceed to. My worker was very nice, patient and helpful. I was able to get my NV license ($41) and register my car and get NV plates. Check the DMV website before your appt as they have many helpful links to inform you of what documents are needed for each service. Things to note: VIN inspections need to be completed before your appt. These can be done without an appt. Just make sure you have your registration.

I was hesitant because my needs were a little complex, Business vehicles swapping plates with a new registration and surrendered plates. Well, it went a little something like this. It was 2:08pm when I got to the counter. I told Lucy my story and she gave me candy (I was turned away at the Commercial DMV and was pretty pissed) we went through everything, she repeated it to make sure she understood and we were off registering vehicles and surrendering tags like crazy people. I walked out of there with everything I needed complete, absolutely complete! AND! I still made it to another appointment I had at 2:30pm, Yep, you heard that right. This shows at least one judge will act to avoid tough issues and force people to push cases to the court of appeals. The second issue is the lawyers for the city of Sparks have no interest in truly following the law - like any private lawyer, they just want to win through any means possible, including misdirection and misrepresentation - all to protect the city (even if it violates state law). This is unethical and immoral. Ultimately, the system is rigged and designed solely for the benefit of the city and its lawyers, and as such, people will not find justice in this court.

I've left work early on multiple occasions hoping to be accommodated, but still get turned away because they close at a certain time when I'm there an hour before they close coming from work. What makes this even more frustrating is that my application was denied stating that my household does not live in Nevada. This is completely false. I have lived in Nevada for 21 years and have never left. A department that is meant to help families in need should not make it this difficult for working parents to receive assistance. Instead of helping people, this system continues to shut them out. This experience has been exhausting, discouraging, and unacceptable.
