Ok so this review is only directed at a trans support group i was in with my girlfriend and one of her friends. All 3 of us were super uncomfortable last night. The group was unorganized and disjointed. It felt like people complaining about personal issues who took up the spotlight. That group was super crowded when it felt like it didn't need to be. A crowded group is fine, but why not divide into a few subsets of people who don't know eeachother and have us get to know eachother. I've been in community colleges that have done that. The whole time it just felt like a random assortment of people who the group leaders liked sharing personal issues. Me and my girlfriend and her friend have all never been to this transgender support group. None of us felt welcome or knew what was happening. There was one person there who was complaining they might go homeless soon and have applied to jobs and turned down offers and they won't go to homeless shelters begging for donations but no clear explanations of where to donate. I was personally bothered by this because like... I'm sorry you were offered jobs but turned them down... because they "don't pay enough" like im sorry... 12$ an hour can get you something affordable in reno if you like hard... probably not in the best neighborhood which I get that... but like... you won't even try? You won't even go to a homeless shelter. I'm sure that's a distressing place to be in, but it's a million times better than actually being homeless... especially as someone who's transgender. It bothered me. Felt like they didn't care to help themselves and I was expected to fix their problems when I don't know this individual. I dont even know their name. That rambling went on for like 15 minutes. They mentioned something about a discord server and I asked for an invite... they said they'd come back to me for that but never did... which bothered me. There was another person there who rambled for 30 minutes about how they live in a bigger apartment than prior but it's cockroach infested and they need 33 dollars for a phone or something like that. I couldn't really follow... they went on a long time. There was an individual there with a baby doll who treated it like an actual baby... look if that's your thing whatever but I felt like a transgender support group wasn't the place for that. I was thmaybto meet other transgender people and possibly get recourses on help with my transition. I'm currently trying to get a letter of recommendation on bottom surgery... you'd think a transgender support group would have recourses on this... or how to help people go through that... but no... there was nothing mentioned about any sort of recourse to help any transgender man, women, non binary person, or anyone in between to help with anything to do with any transition. I dont get how that can't be at a trans support group. The people organizing the support group clearly were unorganized and inexperienced and the whole thing made me and my girlfriend uncomfortable. I'm not blaming all of ourcenter for that as I feel that wouldn't be fair, as I stated my gripe was with this group in particular but it made me uncomfortable and I don't even want to go back to that place now. I would suggest getting someone trained in talking about mental health, especially gender dysphoria autism and adhd to lead (a lot of transgender people do have neurological conditions, so why not someone trained in that) rather than some group of friends i don't know. It felt like I was expected to donate and solve people's issues when I don't need that right now. Look I have my own issues at the moment. I'm working on my mental health. Recently I just went to court over an issue I will not be discussing... but at the end of the day that court room was more organized and I was there the same day I went to that group. I was surrounded by a group of random people I don't know where only a select few could talk for like 30 minutes on end. Why not have an ice breaker activity? Ask people what their names are around the room, ask their hobbies, pronouns whatever. Just ask everyone individually it would have made the situation less stressful... I've been in several group settings that have done that such as community colleges and cpr classes... why not do that? I just don't understand. All and all this group could have been more organized but it wasnt and I'm disappointed read more

Our Center is a wonderful community center for members of the LGBTQIA+ population. They host a number of community support groups from AA to Trans Youth groups! They also hold a number of social events like Karaoke and Movie nights. My favorite parts of the place are the community resources board and the library. Our Center stays up to date on the local inclusive resources. And the library is amazing! It's full of so many LGBT books and there's comfy chairs to read in. Our Center is ran by volunteers who are clearly passionate about their work, and are so inclusive of everyone who walks in the door. Not many towns have a center like this, and we are so lucky that we do here in Reno! It's a place that you definitely need to check out! read more

Such a great new addition to our LGBTQ community! They have a great space with an art room, library sitting area, a kitchen, multi-use space for hanging out/meetings,/fun gatherings, storage, an entry with amazing cabinets covered with the Reno skyline rainbowed, with local information about services, and a conference room. There is plenty of parking both in a private lot and on the street. This was their grand opening after years of community fundraising, can't wait to see all the programs and nonprofits they will partner with to support the Reno/Sparks area. Congratulations to all of the board members and community members whose donations of time and money finally came to fruition! If you are looking for support personally or for someone of the LGBT community, this should be your starting point. read more

Let's talk... I had had never been here before. We had a social work meeting on a Tuesday night and the center accommodated us amusingly! Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful! OUR Center celebrated its one year birthday yesterday. I'm so impressed with how they've managed to include the entire community, not just LGBT folk. The building is beautiful, inviting, and full of comfortable seats. They have a library, an art area, and there's always something fun going on. Everyone who hasn't should swing by and look around. Not to mention a place where people can come ask questions without judgement. For those who aren't already acclimated to our culture there's a lot to take in. Education! To the volunteers and staff, thank you for your tireless dedication. If I had a place like this in high school I would have thrived a lot sooner. You've created a sort of embassy for youth. It's places like this that put cities on the map and Reno needs you. Happy birthday, Our Center! read more

Finally a home for events, that is comfortable, family-friendly, and welcoming to the under 21 crowd or those who really would rather not attend bar-centric events.
