This library is a hidden treasure in sparks! It is so spacious, has kind employees, great kids area, computer access and clean bathrooms! They even have a toilet for little kids which is so nice as most places/libraries don't have this! It is conveniently located right off the main road and next to lazy 5. I absolutely love coming to our local library. Especially on a hot day because it's so cool in here, and quiet. There is something for everyone. Just found out they have a teen room for my son to do his own thing and it's monitored because there are windows to make sure that only teams are in that room. Pretty cool. I also love that they have a little book sale always available for every genre, and they even had clubs going on. I would definitely recommend looking at the calendar events as they have something going on all the time. It's tucked away nicely next to a park and the waterpark should be open opening soon as well. There is always plenty of parking when I come through throughout the week. The librarians are so sweet and kind. They always want to help and I'm willing to answer any question. I also take advantage of the 3-D printing. That is free here as well! I believe that is only through their online portal though. read more

Made the mistake of taking my kiddo to Toddler Time simply because I felt that my son was older than the rest. Regardless, my son & I had a fun time singing along with the class, as well as, enjoyed the library staff read us some books. They were educational books that helped reinforce colors & letters which was still helpful for a 5 year old. It was very engaging for the kids. Towards the end of it they were doing singalongs with scarfs. The duration felt to be about 30 minutes, but it flew by. This library & the other libraries in town do a great service on having different activities for the community. I felt that the library was extremely clean & the staff was pleasant. This was the first time I've been at this library, so being immersed in a place with plenty of space felt nice. I love how the library felt as if you were inside of a dome.. because the structure actually kind of is. The environment is great for working, reading or studying if you don't have any kiddos. I highly recommend this library & I think it's definitely worth looking into what activities are being held at the different locations. read more

I forgot how amazing this library is! It's a bit of a drive for us, but definitely worth it! it is laid out well and has wonderful decor/set ups. When we first arrived, I didn't realize it was also Toddler Time, the lady at the desk was very kind and gave us a guest pass (as we hadn't registered), and we had a great time! The staff leading did a wonderful job and are great with the kiddos. They got everyone engaged and made it super fun. My daughter wasn't sure about it at first, but couldn't get enough by the end of it. There is a lot to explore here and as usual, such a great selection of books. Will certainly be back to this location soon! read more

I haven't been to a library in soooo long, but when you have to keep a 10 year old busy for two weeks of winter break you start getting desperate! I'm so happy that we came here! It's a big and beautiful space and everyone is super friendly and helpful. It was so easy to apply for a library card online and then pick it up in person. And it works at all Washoe County libraries. They have computers that make finding books easy and you can even get audio books online! I can't wait to check out some of their events. read more

The library itself is really great. Most of the staff is super accommodating, however I have run into a problem with the organization of toddler time. Ive visited toddler times with , multiple times at each branch and the program specifically at Spanish springs is unorganized and inconsistent. I talked with many people, and the manager is the one who explicitly refuses to change the program, even when there are 6 moms standing in front of her trying to express their concerns. One problem I've had is being turned away because I have 3 kids but the person behind me only has 1 or 2 so they get to go but my children can't because it "exceeds the fire capacity" Honestly just super disappointing. It's also being mentioned across mom groups how rude the blonde manager is about the topic of toddler time. I recommend the sparks library or the library on west McCarren. The story tellers here are great, and really engage with the kids. When the blonde manager is not here, they are super inviting and run things so smoothly!! read more

This library is absolutely amazing. The book selections are endless, systems are very user friendly, and I've known some staff members since I was a toddler. They remember everyone who spends time in the library. Such a homey feeling and warm, especially in wintertime. This library is one of the most amazing locations in town. I consider it to be number one! It is space, accommodating, and clean. The parking lot has plenty of room for parking. The parking is FREE! It is wide enough for on coming traffic. The building is beautiful. When walking in the building, it is open with high ceilings. The morning time gets lots of natural lighting! There are sections that make it a lot easier to scan through the library. Their kids corner is larger and filled with a lot of books. They have a read out loud room that they host children reading events weekly. There are computers specifications for the kids to play. As for adult c computers, they are located in the middle of the library. The adult section is on the other side of the kid section. They made it very organized which helps. There is a movie section as well. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. They are always there with the answers to your questions. It is easy to navigate and find what your looking for. read more

This is by far my favorite library (second is Northwest, the one on Robb). It's newer, bigger and have ample tables for to choose from to do your studies. The staff here (like all of them) are super friendly and helpful. They even have a mini cafe here too! Though I think there is cafe hours. I did notice a microwave, so I'm pretty sure if you're starving and you wanted to heat up something and sit at the cafe are and eat, the staff isn't going to say no. They also had a magic today (Sunday 10/16/16) at 4pm which I'm pretty sure varies, but I would assume it's a monthly thing with all the libraries. Oh, OH.. Did I mention there's a fire place and a mini photo booth? The fire place isn't a new addition per-say but during rainy days doesn't everyone just want to curl up next to one and read their favorite book? The mini photo booth thing is new. I haven't used it, just only walked pasted it and smiled at the fact that they had it. All in all, I'm glad I'm not too far from this library. I'm just bummed they close on Saturday. they also have a drive up drop off window and they're located in front of 2 parks! read more

It was so easy to apply for my new library card online. I'm new to the area and I must say that the library system here has treated me very well so far! Update: A librarian showed me how to get FREE e-books from the library. Most (all?) libraries offer free ebooks and audio books. The selection is nowhere near what they have in "real" books, but it is still an excellent convenience. read more

This is a super nice, modern library! I haven't been to a library since college, but my sister took me here to check out some movies. They have a small movie section, as well as games, documentaries and music. There are also public computers as well as group study rooms. You can use self check out, just make sure if you are getting dvd's you have them remove the red locks from the covers. Also a little self serve coffee bar as well. read more

I am seriously sitting in the Spanish Springs Library posting a review for the Spanish Springs Library - I think that's fun. Anyhow, this isn't the closest library to my home but it's my favorite. It's QUIET which is the most important thing for me. Several other libraries have kids running around or (worse) adults talking to each other or to the employees. It's also very clean and has a great layout. My only gripe would be the public computers are down in the computer desks so you have to look down to see your screen and type which, if you use the computer for 1/2 hour or so, will start to impact your neck - your neck should not be bent when you are typing. The screen is also pretty far away which causes eye strain as well - maybe I'm just overly bias since I'm a typing fanatic. Great parking, lovely building. read more

I don't know why I haven't reviewed my favorite library before today, but here it goes! I love this library for several reasons: It has one of the best designs of all of the area libraries, some of the friendliest staff, a drive-up window for dropping off and even picking up held items, wonderful free programs and events, many computers for your use, free wifi, lots of comfortable seating throughout, a great selection and if they don't have what you want....just use the library hold system where they get materials from any of the other area libraries and bring them conveniently to you...even to the drive-up window I mentioned before, and the list could go on. We have loved this library ever since it was built. Yes, there is an issue with getting on and off Pyramid Hwy if you are planning on going the opposite direction than the entrance or exit is wanting you to as another reviewer mentioned, but that was decided by the county for some unknown reason. You just have to be calm and go with the flow..... and not attempt an illegal u-turn ON Pyramid Hwy in the middle of traffic like a lot of people do....just saying.... ;) read more
