A life size candy land game! (This picture was taken last year but they did it again this year) sooo fun!

We LOVE this library. Right up the street they are always doing family friendly activities, book reading things, have free puzzles, crafts, and more. The employees are very helpful and smiling. My daughters come with me at least once a week to the library and will have very fond memories here. Check their website calendar and add some of their free activities to your schedule you won't be disappointed.

For as many times as I have driven past this library I'm ashamed to say I haven't utilized it enough. On one rainy afternoon I decided to take my kids to the library and read some books in a different environment other than home. They had so much fun playing in the kid area that they didn't want to leave. Our libraries offer more than just checking out books, not only can you get a free membership you can also enjoy audio books, news articles, free events that are on their website! You get to meet new people, and show our younger generation what a valuable and free great resource we have at our disposal. We are fortunate enough to have a decent amount of libraries in our area and each of them offer something different and unique for everyone. Did you know you can also get NV state park passes!? How cool is that? www.washoecountylibrary.us is a great resource along with Yelp Reno to start exploring libraries near you and ones that will host special events you would like to attend. Next time you're near a public library step inside, the wonderful friendly staff will be able to assist you and answer any questions you have. Also get your free library card while you're there.

I really like this library and it's conveniently close. It feels cozy to me. They have a nice layout and display areas with new books and staff picks as well. It's not huge, but I always able to find a handful of things to take home and read. The magazine section is small, but that's ok, I'm mostly there for the books. The parking lot is not huge, but it's large enough to accommodate the normal amount of visitors and then some I imagine. I think the busiest times are probably when they have the little kiddos story hours or what. I've always enjoyed supporting the library and taking advantage of the resources and seeing our tax dollars go to good use.

Today I learned that if you go through the library, drive-through, and there's a dog in your backseat... They will offer your dog a treat. :-)

Cute little kids play area with a computer station for learning. The check out station table is short enough so my son can check out his own books. What's cool about the library is that they no longer have fees for overdue books if you return them. Also you can return the books to any other library in Washoe County. I love how this library opens later than the downtown Reno library. For instance 4pm it closes compared to 2pm downtown on Sundays. Parking was easy as they have their own lot. They also have water fountains if you're thirsty. My only gripe is the lack of good toddler books, but you can always order them.

This has been my local library for many years. Today I found myself at the library re-vamping my resume and using the printing services. Some days and times are busier than others but I don't ever recall having to wait to use a computer. Although the printing machine was having some issues after money was inserted, the librarian was helpful and was still able to print my documents. I went back later in the day and asked the librarian for assistance using the copier machine for a specific document and she happily helped me.

Great for kids. So many resources and activities

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The services and hours have expanded dramatically since I was last a frequent flyer here about 15 years ago. Why buy books on Amazon when you can rent them here for free? Don't want to go in? You can order on-line and drive through the pick up window in the back. The best part is you can get e-books and audiobooks on your mobile devices FOR FREE! Also you get free access to a zillion magazines as well. It's your tax dollars at work. There is super fast & free WiFi inside, I'm going to try to remember to come here to do work instead of Starbucks, the seating is much more comfortable and I don't have to buy a drink. They have a great children's area and are frequently offering activities for kids young and old(er). Have you seen those commercials advertising ABC mouse for a lucrative subscription fee? Well at the kids section in the library they have several computer stations open with ABC mouse to log into for no fee! Embarrassed about the smut book you're checking out? They have self-checkout kiosks to avoid any awkward conversations. The staff here are amazing, easy to access and beyond excited to explain to you how you can access even more benefits with your library membership. I want 100% of people to use their local public library!!!! Great improvements Washoe County, I'm truly impressed.

I am liking me a library! I came here with Natalie H. so she could grab a couple of books. While wandering around, I found a ton of DVDs that can be checked out to watch for free! There are older DVDs, and newer DVDs! I expected to find a lot of old boring DVDs, the kind that never really made it in the real market. Boy was I wrong! I walked out of there with a DVD that would help my memory to be refreshed. I now have a list of DVDs that I need to watch, either again, or for the first time. I think I will find most of them right there in the library! There is also a huge section devoted to holocaust books and DVDs. It would do us all well to be reminded of the horror of that era... They have a huge section also designated for children and classes. There are groups that meet there with speakers that teach the children something new, something different! It's wonderful to see how they try to get the children involved in reading! I think all the libraries have that, but I haven't been in the library since the school days. Shame on me! The librarian told me that the Sparks library has a huge display of railroad items. That's right up my alley! Do you have a day, and evening, or a weekend, that you want to fill with something different? You should try going to the library, and reigniting that passion for learning! I am still amazed at all the books, DVDs, and information that I will be gleaning from the library. You can pick a subject, and you'll find something there for you! Get your library card, and walk out with a book or two, or a DVD or two! Make sure you check out all the artwork hanging on the walls. They are usually from a local artist. Enjoy the library!!!

The book was on signed out by someone else and I put a hold on it - via their website. This morning, I received an email saying - your book is ready. It took 3 minutes for me to find the book, check it out and get back into my car. HOW COOL IS THAT!? Technology has really brought libraries to the future.

We went to a circle time here, and a bilingual family game night. I also came to their art class. Over the summer they offered a free animal show. I'm blown away of how much is going on here. I highly recommend you should run, not walk to this library. I'm am so happy it is close by and it's open every day, even Sundays. Everyone I have met is super helpful. No complaints. Shout out to Emily! She is my favorite librarian. These are the best parts of community we must foster and take care of. They also don't penalize you for late fees and have no limit for checking out. There is a books sale area and a section that gives away food in the front. People bring things in and others take what they need. I absolutely love that. We need this more! The library did not pass their WC -1 on election day. Unfortunately our libraries will be reducing resources due to budget cuts. I will be emailing my Washoe county commission office about this. I encourage you to do the same.

Gave me something to do; to explore and Yelp while my wife shopped next door at the Nevada Marketplace. Also a cool find - Memory kits and blood pressure kits (not for me, but useful for my guests if/when they visit). Ambiance - HUGE location!! Not too busy, but definitely had some activity in all parts of the library. From the computers, to the kids area, private rooms, group meetings, etc. Open 6 days a week from 10am to 4pm, 6pm or 7pm. Closed Sundays. See website for specific hours. Cut and pasted from their website: "Sierra View Library offers: Seating for collaborative work or individual pursuits with personal devices. Free Wi-Fi and wireless printing. A youth collection and area with plenty of space for families to gather, play with games and LEGO, enjoy story times, or attend a variety of programs like Crafternoon. A dedicated space for teens to gather and work on computers in the heart of the young adult materials collection. Two reservable, soundproof Zoom ROOMs (one four-person meeting pod and one single occupancy phone booth pod). Public computers for internet access, research, and word processing tasks. One-on-one technological assistance through Washoe County Library's Book a Librarian program, including help with unemployment applications, job searches, and resume assistance. A wide range of books, music, movies, and books on CD, as well as downloadable ebooks, audio books, and magazines. We also have a growing collection of materials in Spanish." Service - Great, very welcoming. Greeted immediately when I walked in. Price - Free, thank you. Owner Comment - Thank you Washoe county.

I haven't been to a library in forever and this one is closest to where I live so I went in. The staff was VERY friendly and accomodating, and I got my card right away. There was a great children's section in back, good seating places, and some tables, and an area in back where they have book sales which I was given a bookmark that had the scheduled day/time in which they sell. You can also donate books too, and I do have a lot I should donate either to sell or they can happily have them for their own shelves. I checked out four books quickly, and well, I thought the place was nice!

Sometimes if it's a book I've requested, a staff member will even deliver it to my office for me! The stacks have a pretty decent selection of the philosophy monographs that I'd like to consult but that I don't already own. We subscribe to most of the academic journals that I need for my research and teaching. The building is absolutely beautiful, and it warms my heart to see so many students working in it. There are lots of computers, study rooms, and tables for getting one's work done. The Bytes coffee shop has basic snacks and drinks for folks who need a pick-me-up but don't want to walk outside to the Joe. I like how there are sometimes free recitals in the main floor rotunda. I often disappear into the Graduate Reading Room whenever I need to grade papers in a comfy chair without any distractions. I've booked the basement floor main room on multiple occasions to show films to my classes, and the process was easy and the technology worked. Why not a full five stars? I wish parking were easier. The course reserves system is a pain in the neck, which is why I don't use it for my classes. I wish the library would allocate more resources to subscribe to a couple key subfield journals that I have tried to make a case for us needing to own. I hear that working as a library junior faculty member is filled with drama. But all in all, the KC is great!

There are many things about this place that makes it awesome. The library is one. It is state of the art. They have the MARS system that retrieves the book that you request instead of looking for it yourself or a librarian. How awesome that you have a robot get your book for you and kind of creepy if you think about it. Terminators are real haha. No, but seriously a cool device and makes it very easy. There is also a small coffee and food shop next to the library. Their coffee is decent and I go in there from time to time to grab a cup. During the semester you can book a room in the library for studying. You can also book it for a group study session. There are also plenty of computers in there for students to use. You must have your student access account to use these computers. There is also a hidden library attached to the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center. There is access to that library from the north side of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and an elevator outside the north entrance of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge building. At the Ground floor is the @ One Center. This is a great place for doing your homework. They have a lot of computers here. They have Mac and Regular PC computers. This is a great place for digital media students. You can also rent movies, video equipment, a sound room and much more. You can also print your papers here and also print out graphs, stickers, etc. I forget the proper terminology for it but it's a place where you can do printouts like Kinkos and I'm sure they can do so much more that what I know. But it's pretty awesome. I think they have a tutoring center by the south entrance. I think it's a tutoring center I have never used it myself but I saw a sign once. Also they have the Wells Fargo auditorium that holds artist presentations, public presentations, movies, and much more. I'm sure I am missing a bunch of stuff to add to this review but that is what I can remember. Thank your for reading my review.
