Driver showed up right on the dot. The vehicle was a big clean SUV, plenty of room for luggage, and the ride to the airport was smooth and safe the whole way. Got dropped off right at the door we needed, which matters when you're pulling bags out at a busy terminal. The part I appreciated most was the billing. They invoiced me after the trip, so there was no scrambling for a card or working out a tip with the driver in the moment. Zero hassle on departure day, which was the whole point. Here are some facts to marinate on. 1) Cabs are still dirty, 2) They smell of smoke and ashes, 3) the Samoan dispatchers still owe "Todd" the cabbie money that they borrowed, er, um...robbed from him. Arian R., you assume wrong in thinking I am "friends" with "Todd". So if he was fired, that's awesome! The only gap in this strategy is getting from Home to the BART Station. Sometimes, one of Gayle's Sons is available to drop us off, but on our last trip to Iowa, taking a cab on both ends, plus the BART fare was still significantly cheaper than driving in and paying for parking. We've also learned that that the cab trip to the Pleasant Hill BART Station is shorter and cheaper than to Lafayette. The system works, at least from Home. We call Yellow Cab to pick us up, and the last guy who took us was friendly, knew the way and even enjoyed chatting with my Son. Coming back home from the BART station is a little trickier as we've found a lot of variability at the head of the BART Taxi Line.

Ok, fine, just a tidbit about the anniversary...my man booked Golden Gate Helicopters to take us to Napa for a special dinner. When we drove up to the super exclusive (never before known by us) private airline portion of SFO airport, I had the opportunity to meet Tim and Tom. Both greeted us with welcoming smiles and gave us a little insight on what it feels like to go on a helicopter (think of yourself as sitting on a washing machine was their analogy). Basically, we weren't blindly led to a helicopter for the first time and told to put on our seat belts. A very good explanation was provided to us and it really calmed me down because I realized I was slightly freaked out. Tim and Tom have a ridiculous amount of experience and they share a great sense of humor. The ride to Napa and back was beyond excellent - I got to experience the Bay Area in a never before seen way - from thousands of miles up in the sky! Everything was smooth except for one funny little episode where my husband asked if Tim and Tom wanted to "crash" at our place due to the fog rolling in...while we were in mid air! Haha...not.
