It's a much more civilized way to get across the Bay than BART and it's free. I offered $1 at first but drivers seemed surprised and I haven't seen any of my co-riders from this location ever offer. What's really cool about this location is that the Transbay E Bus is located directly across the street. What I usually do is try to get there just before a scheduled bus departure so I can evaluate which option to go with based on the Casual Carpool line. I'm still a UC Berkeley student and AC Transit is currently complimentary so this bus/Casual Carpool system works for me. Once I no longer get free bus rides, I'll probably wait it out at Casual Carpool no matter what. The longest I've had to wait is 15 minutes and as lines get longer, riders and drivers usually allow 3 people to get in the car in order to speed up the line.

Presidio Go Shuttle - Downtown Route Date: Sunday, September…read more20, 2026 Destination: Downtown San Francisco to Presidio Tunnel Tops The Presidio Go Shuttle is a convenient and free way to get from downtown San Francisco to the Presidio. I took the Downtown Route from downtown to Presidio Tunnel Tops. I like this option because otherwise I would have to take the MUNI 43 bus, which is out of the way when coming from downtown. The Downtown Route ends at the Presidio Transit Center, next to the Presidio Visitor Center, where you can transfer to the South Hills Route to reach other destinations throughout the Presidio. The Downtown Route makes stops at: * 50 Beale Street * Drumm & California * Letterman Digital Arts Center * Tides Converge * Presidio YMCA * Presidio Transit Center I really like having this free shuttle option because it makes getting to the Presidio much easier without having to drive. It's especially convenient for visiting the museums, YMCA, Tunnel Tops, and other attractions in the Presidio. Overall, the Presidio Go Shuttle Downtown Route is a great transportation option for locals and visitors, especially if you don't want to drive or worry about parking.

Nice, free bus for the route it travels…read more The Presidio GO (formerly named PresidiGo) only has a few stops on its route. The stop aren't marked like the MUNI bus stops are, but you can trust that it'll follow the maps which are on its website. For this review, I took it from the Embarcadero stop (outside the Hyatt Regency, where the MUNI 12 bus stops) and took it to the Presidio entrance. It used to be a semi free shuttle with only some times available to those who didn't live in the Presidio, but they opened it up to be fully free to everyone some years ago. There are two sizes of buses which I've seen, one which is smaller and one which is larger, but both kinds are decorated with a mostly white motif. For a free shuttle bus, it's great. My only caveat would be that it's not too frequent and the stops are very limited.

Besides, I'm trying to write 100 reviews in 2013 :-) First: where. In CoCo, there are two spots I know of, the Lafayette BART parking lot and the side of the Orinda theater (my preferred spot). I don't know about pickup spots in SF to ride home. In Marin, you can pick up a ride at the Park-n-Ride in Mill Valley. Second: economics. It saves money (BART ticket or bridge toll/gas) and time (a few minutes if you're BARTing, half an hour if you're driving). Just get three perfect strangers into a car and off you go, afflicted with carpool tunnel syndrome. Three: riders. You probably won't meet your special someone in casual carpool; you probably won't even say anything besides "hi" or "Front and Pine". Or maybe you will. One salesperson exchanged business cards to get contacts for her business. It can turn into a good social event to wake you up better than coffee does. My memorable experiences: (1) The poor man with a small pickup who just couldn't get anyone to ride with him. (2) The lady driving a convertible with the top down. As we were getting onto 24, she started to put the top up, and the other passenger and I said "No, leave it down!" It was perfect weather on the Bay Bridge, therefore my most memorable commute ever. (3) I had to drive into The City for a few months, so I was the driver this time. 98.6% of the time, drivers play KCBS (traffic report), but I played either Phil Keaggy or Randy Stonehill. Once, the lady riding shotgun commented positively on Stonehill's music. We talked for a while, turns out she was a regular at St. Patrick's Church. We didn't keep in touch, but that was a good ride for both of us. It won't work for many people, and others get skittish about riding with strangers, but it's worth a try if you're adventurous.

One arrives at 5:58 the other at 6:21. Be warned the ferry is FAR from the train depot. I am a very fast walker and have come within seconds of missing the ferry almost every time. The ferry does not board at 6:30, it LEAVES at 6:30. There is allegedly a shuttle to connect the train to the ferry but it's nowhere to be found at this hour. I'm not sure who designed this terrible layover time but be warned if you are even the slightest bit slow you will miss the ferry.
