They recommended I call a cab about 20 minutes before I needed to leave for the airport to catch my outbound flight. The morning I needed the cab, I called about 30 minutes (just to be safe) in advance. I found this company online, and since their website (which is awful, by the way -- I should have known, just by that!) said they served the whole area, I figured I'd give them a ring. They've got several phone numbers on their site. Red flag! When I called the first one, it went to voice mail (yet they say they are 24/7). I called the second number and sounded like I woke up the person. It was 5:40am. We had a major language barrier, so I really didn't know if he was going to pick me up or not. I went to the lobby and waited 15 minutes. No cab arrived. So, the front desk clerk called me another cab just in case. Five minutes later, California Cab showed up, so I hopped in. My first impression was, "Oh boy! This cab is dented in every way, and the seats are all effed up!" The driver put my luggage next to me in the back seat, so I'm guessing the trunk must have been jacked up and inoperable. The driver was nice enough, but as he started driving, he was GPSing the airport and swerving over the yellow line. Yes, I was nervous! We got on the freeway, and he was only driving 50 as cars were driving around us and he was swerving! As he accelerated, the car started shaking! To top it off, his air pressure light was lit up on the dash! About 10 minutes into the drive (it's about a 40-minute drive to the Oakland Airport) he told me he doesn't take credit cards. WTF??? He waited until we were that far into the drive to tell me??? I'll skip all of the yelling I did at him, and just say that he offered to take me to an ATM to get cash. I told him I would take the fee out of what I owed. I spent the next 15 minutes solid SHOUTING at him and telling him how inappropriate it was to tell me he doesn't take credit cards for a fare that will be well over $100, and how his car is a complete piece of crap! When we arrived at the airport, he knocked my fare down by $5 to make up for the ATM fee and apologized profusely for the lack of professionalism of his company. We rented the limo from 6:00 pm-12:00 am. He showed up around 5:30 pm and waited patiently while the kids finished taking photos. He had cider, sodas and water for the kids along with glasses and cups for them. They could play their own music. Once they arrived at The Asian Art Museum in SF and he dropped them off, he texted me and sent a photo of them heading up the stairs and let me know they had arrived safely. He asked me to share his work phone number with the kids so that they could call him once the dance ended and they could find him just in case. He reassured me that they did not have to rush as well. He had them back home by 11:40 pm safe and sound. The kids said he was great.
