Huge fan of Sierra trading. Prior to discovering this location my orders consisted of everything online. Still purchase online from time to time with $89/feee shipping but if it doesn't fit easy enough to return in the store. Located off route 59 it can be a little busy getting there but once in the strip there is ample parking and the store is never busy. Perfect for someone like me who likes to browse or when on a mission- get in and out. For those of you were haven't been to a Sierra picture a Marshall's or TJ Maxx but for outdoor active consumers (owned by same parent company). You can literally find everything from shoes to swimwear to ski gear, shorts and tees. The list goes on and on. Lots of name brands and high quality items. Water bottles, socks, skateboards and I recall seeing a kayak at some point. Point is if you are looking for anything to either wear under or over or by itself within the active bracket come here. You'll find accessories along the way. The store is clean, organized and the staff has always been very friendly. In fact since I've been coming here there are a few loyal workers who have been with me since the beginning. It's always nice to see a familiar face. And if you suddenly get hungry or thirsty or feel the need to go shopping when leaving the store you'll find an Aldi, liquor store, Petco, McDonalds, Chilis add more in the strip which is perfect. read more

Two cashiers at the register, one manager right next to them, line of 12 people... super long wait and super slow doing everything. What frustrated me was the lack of care (and attention) for how long the line was. The cashiers didn't even notice, or try to ring items up a bit faster. Manager moved even slower so no help there. The woman that rang me up had to switch registers due to a glitch on the computer- no problem. The speed at which she was moving, problem, because it caused the line to get backed up and people were getting impatient. She assumed my frustration was due to switching to a new register- it wasn't. It was the lack of attention from both cashiers about how quickly the line was building and adapting, aka doing your best to get people in and out. Now I don't know if this was the best they could do or if they were new but this whole experience could have been better. Instead the two cashiers chitchatted about everything under the sun, slowly typed in peoples' emails, slowly asked about signing up for a card, slowly took the tags off, and slowly packed everything into the bag. This is why Sierra has a ton of online orders- too slow when you come into the store which is unfortunate because the store has good stuff. Dear Sierra, please train cashiers to move quickly when lines are long and more importantly, having the awareness to notice that. read more

As an avid hiker and backpacker, I am so glad to have this Sierra in Rockland! I do 90% of my outdoor shopping at REI and was pleasantly surprised to find many 'premium' brands among the offerings like Smartwool, Sea to Summit, Platypus, Osprey, Leki, Eno, Kari Traa, Dakine, Kavu, etc. among the more popular brands like Northface and Columbia, so you can really come up with some good finds here if you look. The store is spacious and very well laid out - the aisles are neat and the clothes, shoes, and accessories (really everything) are orderly displayed and not all over the place. Sierra has been acquired by the same group that owns Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Home Goods, so it's no surprise that they have a ton of clothes, primarily activewear and coats/jackets, organized in Men, Women, and Kids sections. The accessories are great too (gloves, socks, headwear). There's also a section for pets. In the front left as you enter, there are aisles for camping supplies and seasonal recreational & sporting goods. It's not a big section but you can find some basic supplies as well as freeze dried meals. The backpack/daypack selection is huge, however, and they have some good brands. The back area has a swank collection of personal care and beauty & wellness products, gourmet snacks, and other boutiquey things, as well as travel accessories. A pleasure to browse. The merchandise are perfectly suitable for most casual outdoor enthusiasts, but you'll come up short if you're looking for special technical gear or ultralight stuff. You can get great clothing for a fraction of the cost, however, especially if you take the time to look, as often there is a hidden gem here and there and only one or two of that item. The prices are excellent. I've found some amazing deals and bought chichi $90 thermal leggings for $30 and several pairs of wool hiking socks for $3-5 that normally cost like $15. I cannot believe its been so long since i last reviewed this place. Time for an update. Excellent selection from north face backpacks like the borealis and jester to wolverine boots and great prices. The people that work here are very nice and always try to be helpful. Returns are very easy. We come here pretty much several times a week bc they stock different things all the time! read more

I truly love Sierra trading Post!they have everything that you need for hiking camping and more; The prices are phenomenal and they have some top level gear. Sierra trading post is related to marshals but it's nicer than marshals you don't have to go into these crazy racks looking for crap. At Sierra everything is on display jackets shoes hiking boots and more with out the insanity of digging for gold. If your into adventure I recommend you try them out. read more

I agree with the other review, but only up to a point. The selection is superb, the prices are great, and the store is clean and well laid out (really, really nice). However, the sales staff are absolutely obnoxious. It's never okay to make fun of a customer or laugh at them, whether or not you think they're wrong. Even if they are wrong. Badly done. read more

Great store - good selection and good prices. One note - they have a wide selection but not very deep so if you see something buy it. It may be the only one and it may be gone your next visit. The cashiers are terribly slow and they usually only have one or two registers open. All in all I really like it and drop in pretty often just to see what's new. read more

Went in here a week and a half ago to pick out a new winter jacket. Found a nice blue Columbia jacket in my size that fit me perfectly. Also managed to get some Carhaart jeans also in my size. Staff was very friendly and store had a great selection of items. read more

I bought a timberland wallet two weeks ago and it's falling apart. I brought it in for an exchange without a receipt because every other store let's you exchange as long as you have the card you bought it with and was told no. The worker said they had to run a report and when she came back she said she ran 3 weeks of sales and found no record of transaction. So I obviously didn't buy a new one. I'll go anywhere but here. I know I bought it 2 weeks ago so the "report" must just be a way of denying the exchange. I didn't try returning the shirt I bought the same day that already fell apart too. Total garbage for sale with total garbage customer service. The first girl at the register who called over the woman who ran the report was very nice and was left alone at the register for way too long, answering phones and ringing up customers. So it appears they treat cashiers as well as paying customers. read more
