My wife and are not Jewish but we have liked deli's before, do we decided to try this place. From the road it seems pretty unassuming but when you get inside it's pretty unassuming. I jest. Inside appeared clean and classic deli atmosphere. We were greeted by a server that was extremely friendly and straightforward. When asked she gave me suggestions and even explained items on the menu that I had no idea of. All the rest of the staff also seemed courteous and professional. The real surprise was when the food arrived. It came out pretty quick and was tasty. All ingredients were top notch. I tried the kreplach soup and a Reuben. The Reuben was good with piled high corned beef. I tried the soup and it seemed to be of high quality but a little on the bland side for my tastes. Even the pickles were very good. Prices seemed to lean to the higher side but considering the area and the fact that I'm a grumpy old man probably in line with normalcy. The server asked if I wanted a refill on my iced tea. I said only about a half because I didn't want to waste half of it when I left. For the first time in one hell of a long time she did exactly as I had asked. She even seemed to go over and above in boxing up out leftovers. Would I return? We'll let me think about it. I have been here before with my parents but it's been a long time. I've been craving latkes recently and only a few places on DoorDash have it near us, including Siegel's Deli, so we ordered from here tonight. The latkes are about $4 each and they come with your choice of sour cream, applesauce, or both. They are very large and worth the price, as they were delicious. I got a cup of the kreplach soup, which was also tasty but expensive ($11), and my husband got a corned beef sandwich (about $18), which was huge. We also got two sides of their sliced New Dill pickles, which were great, and they included one Old Dill pickle slice with his sandwich too. I'm curious if the prices here are a lot cheaper than on DoorDash, because the sandwich was rather expensive. That being said I would order from here again, and probably get latkes and New Dill pickles, as they were very, very good. read more

Siegel's Deli is a great place for breakfast. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. As you can see from the photos, we had 2 eggs, meat and a side. All this for the unbelievable price of $7.50. I highly recommend the sausage and the deli rye toast. OMG! The staff at Siegel's is very friendly and super efficient. They are very attentive and frequently offer warm ups on coffee. One of my favorite spots in Metro Detroit. I stopped in for an early lunch and wanted to get an old favorite with some left over for dinner. Seigel's Deli is typical Jewish Deli here in the Detroit area known for Corned beef, pastrami, and their soups. Today I ordered the Elliott, which is corned beef, coleslaw and Russian dressing on Jewish Rye bread. I got a bowl of their cabbage soup to go along with the sandwich. They also serve an old and new dill pickle with every sandwich. I have to say they never disappoint with the food. The service is great, since the same ladies have worked here what seems like forever. The decor is kind of old school, but always clean. This place feels like home. Fabulous little deli! Absolutely loved everything we ordered! The sandwiches were loaded with meat. The corned beef was very fresh and practically melted in the mouth. Bread is fresh. The ratio of sandwich ingredients to bread is excellent. The Reuben egg rolls were crunch, a smidge greasy, but flavorful. The club sandwich has real turkey - not lunch meat! It was delicious. Yes, they are a little bit on the expensive side, but for what you get I think it's worth it. I would have gave it 5 stars, but I did have one bad experience once. I would stay on par with Zingerman's and as good if not a little better than the bread basket deli. The sandwiches were good, (not as good as we remember them- I thought there was no dressing on my Russian, but then realized it was plopped on one side of the sandwich, which wasn't the side I was eating- sandwich is cut in two), but the soup was a huge disappointment. I ordered two quarts of chicken noodle soup, and in both quarts, there was not one sliver of actual chicken. Stopped at Siegel's right before closing tonight for a Reuben sandwich. The place is very cozy but offers lots of seating. The young staff was friendly and accommodating. I ended up driving at least 30 minutes before I could eat the sandwich; therefore, the bread became soggy from the sauerkraut. I'm sure the sandwich would have been fantastic had I eaten there. However, it was still very good. The corned beef was fresh and tender. The menu is extensive, complete with Deli favorites. There were plenty of desserts available to choose from. I will try the peach streusel on my next visit. The deli offers my favorite Dr. Brown soda. I always give major points to a deli that serves Dr. Brown's. According to the signage out front, this Deli has received accolades as the best deli in the area. Judging from what I saw and the taste of the sandwich that I had, I would agree. I ordered via DoorDash the Baja Turkey Wrap and Potato Latke. The wrap just may have been the best wrap I have ever had! The ingredients were fresh, they gave me a huge portion of Chipotle ranch on the side. I ended up giving 3 stars because the tables weren't cleared after the last diners... they ended up cleaning up the table after we sat down and only after someone asked us if they wanted the table cleaned. We considered moving to another table, but those were dirty as well. The place really looks like a dive. It looks abused. If you turn and run, you will have truly missed a treasure. A couple dozen tables, maybe three waitresses and one helluva lunch rush. It doesn't matter because these ladies haul a$$. You do not wait long. If you do, so what, this one's worth the wait. Our dentist told us to order the Matzo ball soup by the quart. Even though we are dining in. The waitress thought that stupid and asked how many balls we wanted. Why...2, of course. One for each of us. Genius. Instead of wasting time filling a to-go container with a quart of soup and then dirtying two bowls, she fills a large bowl and adds two monster size Matzo balls and throws two spoons at us. She then charges us for a single bowl of soup. Genius. Each matzoh was bigger than your fist! They feature some heavy duty sandwiches and they're stacked with some tasty cuts of meat. I typically have a pastrami Rueben. Today it was the corned beef. It was an extremely lean corned beef and again, it was piled high. The bread was of good sandwich quality. No way this mountain is falling down or the bread going soggy. The cheese was so-so, but it worked just dandy. This is the only time we've ever eaten at a popular deli and listened to country music. As someone who is fussy about Deli food, this place is actually A okay. I came here with a friend of mine since we both wanted deli but wanted something in this area. Walking in, the place is busy. It's not the fanciest looking place on the inside, but has a nice mix of tables and booths. We sat in the corner and our server got our drinks started. I was impressed that they had Matzo Ball soup. It was always served in my house with a simple broth (which this was) but always had carrots and celery in it. Not a lot, just a little. This didn't have the carrots or celery in it. Fine, I'm over it, but we both noticed it and discussed it over lunch. I went with the Pastrami and Corned Beef sandwich. I think it's the number 26? My friend went with the smaller version, of pastrami only. We both were amazed at how big or sandwiches were when they came out. Food was tasty, and I finished most of my food, and my friend took home like half of his. Here is where I wanted things to be better. First, the pickle slices we got were literally slivers. It's traditional to serve pickles in a deli, and we got hardly any. Is there a pickle shortage somewhere? Food rationing? We get this huge sandwich and like a pencil thin pickle? UGH.
