I was looking for somewhere new to go for lunch, and a coworker and I decided to try Sunny's Café, which is only a couple miles from our office. I'm so glad we did. I ended up ordering The Big Feast--three eggs over medium, hash browns, two pieces of bacon, two sausage patties, and toast. I absolutely love breakfast for lunch, and this hit the spot. The food was fresh, filling, and really good. Our server, Karina, was fantastic--very attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. The café itself has a really cool, welcoming vibe. While we were there, I also found out that the owner is related to the owner of Leeza's Café up the street, which explains the quality and consistency. All in all, Sunny's Café is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I was just here for breakfast with a friend on Saturday morning @9am, we were able to get a table quickly and had an excellent meal. Greek omelette & skillet corned beef hash, coffee, toast. Everything was outstanding. the omelette was perfectly cooked, the ingredients very fresh and my friend loved the skillet breakfast. & the coffee was great which is often not the case. Service was spectacular, our waitress was a young woman in her 20's and it was perhaps the best service I've ever had. We will definitely be returning. I decided to go to Sunny's because of the excellent reviews. When I got there, around 12:10 on a Saturday, every seat was taken and there was a family ahead of me. (They were waiting outside.) It seemed to take quite a while for the staff to even notice that I was there, even though I was the only one waiting inside at first. Then, a lot of other customers came in. Fortunately, bunch of people who had been eating left at the same time. I waited for about 15 minutes to be seated. The woman who seated me was pleasant, and she brought me iced tea quickly. But then, I waited. And waited. And waited. Servers walked by and pretty much ignored me -- which I would think is hard to do in such a small restaurant. Finally, a young woman came to take my order. I ordered a veggie omelette & rye toast. She asked how I wanted it (fluffly, flat or scrambled) and then asked, "That's it?" I said yes. Well, when it came, there were no hash browns and no cheese in the omelette. I eventually was able to flag her down to ask about the hash browns, and she said, "You didn't order them." I pointed out that they were supposed to come with the omelette, but if she took them off the bill, that would be fine. She brought me some instead. The food was good, but nobody ever came back to check on me or to refill my $3.00 iced tea. (I will never understand that, and I really do need to stop ordering it, since I know that it might cost them dime to make.) Since the server had brought me my bill to "prove" that I didn't order hash browns, she didn't come back. I had to ask a different server for a box. I actually wasn't full, but I was tired of being there. When I looked at the bill, I noticed that they charge more for using a credit card (although they call it a discount for using cash). I really despise this new practice. And sure enough, the person at the cash register was my server -- who said something akin to "Hang on a minute" rather than something more professional, like "I will be with you in a minute." I would say that the food is good, although their prices are higher than their online menu shows. But the service was such that I'm not sure that I'll go back. I've gone to lots of small, busy restaurants and rarely do I walk away feeling ignored. read more

Friendly fast service. Great coffee. We arrived at 1:15 to see that they are opened from 8-2pm each day. The restaurant is small and cozy. There were quite a few patrons there. Within 5 minutes of being seated we had water, coffee and our orders in. 10 mins later we were eating our meal. The fries were well done and crispy just the way I like them. The sausage links well done and dry as ordered. I was told the Blueberry pancakes were just a little under done but apparently that did not affect the taste as they were all gone : ). Sunny's has been around for years and is a forever favorite... It's small, locally owned, no-frills / super casual, but consistent, dependable, and has a variety of menu options for all to enjoy. I don't really order anything other than a fluffy egg white omelette because it's my favorite and no one does it better than Sunny's. I like mine with spinach, mushrooms and feta + tomato and/or carrots on the side as well as pita bread. Service is super attentive. Coffee is hot. I will be back on my future visits to Michigan for sure! read more

The good: The service was exemplary. My waitresses were attentive and genuine. My food appeared quickly. I loved that my server brought me everything I like without asking. The bacon was cooked nicely but also had no flavor. Not sure why. The ham??? Wow! It was the cheapest lunch meat style ham I ever had. Tasted terrible. Super cheap formed and processed. Not meant for breakfast. Or for any consumption. I ate two bites. Gross. You could buy a real boneless piece of ham and slice it for so cheap. Just buy a boneless but real Dearborn ham and slice it. I got the nerve to tell my waitress. She was so nice. Tried to offer me something else. That was huge. Your ham sucks! Get real ham or just don't offer it. Huge fan on Sunny's Cafe! Came here when my tire was getting fixed. We tired to find a spot within walking distance. The restaurant was busy when we got there and we were greeted by a super nice server. Not too long of a wait and we were on the patio enjoying coffee. The menu is HUGE! So many yummy things to pick from! My hubby and I went with the lox omelette and the corned beef omelette. You have the option of white and fluffy or original with the yolks. We went with the yolks. The omlettes have always been good and it's nice that you can choose various sides instead of the typical hash browns and toast. This place is such a great find! It's small. It's loud with not so great acoustics. It's very casual and even somewhat tricky to locate. But for what it is, it's perfect! The waitstaff is remarkably attentive, friendly, and well coordinated. The omelettes are just amazing and so is the French toast. The hash browns can be ordered from the menu to be crispy and they actually do them right. They also have a great and diverse healthier menu for vegetarians, vegans, and those with more eclectic tastes. Get there early, because it has a regular crowd that fills it quickly and attracts older widowers who enjoy coffee and reading alone while occupying whole booths (of which there aren't many). Sunny's is your typical hole-in-the-wall kinda coney island with a mural on the wall from from "Breakfast at Tiffany's", it's small, and very cramped, my table was actually right in front of the cash register, so that was a little annoying...no big deal tho, right? The service was so-so, the coffee was terrible, I mean it was BAD. The selection of omelettes left much to be desired on the breakfast menu. I opted for a mexican omelet, which in most cases has cheese, chili, tomatoes, etc. My omelet was well, not so much like that...it was served with a side of bland, boiling hot salsa and cheese, all for a whopping $8.00. My GF who had an omelete has the same dismal experience with her food as well. We both were severely disappointed with this place, the food, and how much it cost.
