Our waitress was great, very personable to us and helping my toddler. Ambiance is relaxed but still elevated with white table cloths and paper top. Crayons for kids to color freely, Love that they also have local artists paintings, photography, and clay /sculpture on display throughout the restaurant for sale. It is a great way to celebrate the local community. Overall great experience and will be back. A friend recommended this spot, so I decided to stop in for breakfast. The customer service was excellent, attentive, and welcoming. The food itself was fairly average overall, though I did appreciate the authenticity. The sausage was good quality and the eggs tasted fresh and real, not processed or from a box. The atmosphere, however, did not offer much. There was not much to take in visually, so my solo breakfast ended up being more time on my phone than enjoying the setting. Rating purely as a breakfast joint, Recipes has a fairly diverse menu that covers most of the bases when you think of breakfast to include eggs to order combo's, skillets, omellets, pancakes, French toast, Eggs Benedict and the list goes on and on. For my first meal here I had their two egg farmers choice breakfast that included two eggs cooked to order, choice of meat, house potatoes and toast at a very reasonable cost of $8.50. Food was well made, not too oily, and was very tasty. Aside from the food I ordered coffee as well where this was definately a good cup of Joe where the wait staff was on top of the refills. Nice! The restaurant itself has a very comfortable and inviting feel to it with a nice casual atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and on top of their game with prompt ordering, great follow up throughout the meal, and most importantly quick on the coffee refills. Prices are very reasonable versus competition which is a big plus, Overall one of the better breakfast joints in the area and if you are an early riser like I am they open at 7am which is a huge plus in my book as so few restaurants do this anymore in this area. I definitely ordered from the wrong menu. When I sat down and saw the two menus, I focused on the Weekend Specials. Instead of the drip coffee, I ordered the Great Lakes Cold Brew. Unfortunately, I did not realize it was coffee in a can. The waitress could have opened the can for me. It was a newbie mistake as none of the other diners ordered the coffee in a can. Not a fan of caramel nor non-pork sausage, I went with the BBQ Hash. Since the menu stated the eggs came scrambled, I did not expect to be asked how I would wanted them cooked. At times, I may be asked if I was okay with how the eggs are cooked as mentioned on the menu. The brown sugar sauce was applied neither sparingly nor dumped over the hash. I was able to eat the hash with and without the BBQ sauce. Although they were on the same plate, the eggs were served as if they were a side. Probably due to folks not wanting any of that sauce on their eggs. In any case, the BBQ hash must be a lunch entree with the eggs and toast added for the weekend brunch version. read more

Recipes on Haggerty Rd, Farmington Hills is the best place for breakfast lunch AND dinner. The food is beyond delicious. They offer American, Asian and South American cuisines. Breakfast /lunch daily and dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. The service is impeccable, Dee is friendly and a great sense of humor, very knowledgeable and a very good barometer of good taste. The restaurant is comfortable and nicely decorated with artwork from local artists. The lighting and mood is perfect for a quiet dinner or celebration of any kind. The noise level is low, you can actually have a conversation without shouting. The menu has a perfect balance of different selections that won't take an hour to read. The prices are super reasonable, not many places today can a party of four eat for less than $70, including beer and wine. Recipes is a must. read more

Very large menu for breakfast and while smaller the brunch menu has good selection of sandwiches, salads, and entrees. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and the amount of food. All of us took food home. My eggs Benedict was great and warmed up well the next day. Lots of parking and not as busy as the other locations. Service was friendly but not hovering. Menu is HUGE. SO much food to choose from. Luckily, I looked online first so I knew what I wanted, & it was on the menu, when I arrived. I highly suggest doing this if you have a hard time deciding (like me) so you can glance, find your dish & place your order. I was alone at a 4 seater. I ordered the salmon hash w/ english muffins & 1/2 order of cinnamon swirl french toast. The salmon was dry BUT the over easy eggs & hollandaise sauce made up for it. The 1/2 order french toast comes with 2 nice sized slices so i'm assuming a full order is 4. I wouldn't finish a full order in 1 sitting so I'm glad I went w/ 1/2. Great breakfast spot in Farmington Hills. I love that they open at 7:00 am - great for a breakfast meeting. Every time I go I get the spanish omelet and it never disappoints. The coffee is great (and hot) and the service is very quick. They even have a "upscale" feeling ambiance without upscale prices. Great place for breakfast or lunch. Stopped by on a quick weekend trip to Detroit this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon this breakfast spot. We were greeted at the door (I think it was by the owner?) and promptly seated. Dee, our server was so sweet and helped recommend some of their specialties because we couldn't decide on what we wanted. Hubby ended up getting the Chuck Wagon Skillet, I got the Huevos de Paco Benedict, my parents got the Chicken & Waffle Benedict and the Corned Beef Hash and of course I got the chocolate chip pancakes for my kiddos. Oh we also got an order of their Blackberry Biscuits because why not? When everything came out we were surprised at how big the portions were. I liked the fact that the corned beef wasn't from a can like a lot of other breakfast places tend to use. The one downside was that their food was too good! My husband and I always switch plates in the middle of the meal to try each other's dish, but when I passed my plate to him, he had already finished his meal! My parents also finished their dishes too, which they hardly ever do. The only thing missing was my brunch mimosa but I heard that they may be serving them up really soon so be on the look out! Wanted to try something new last weekend and was in the area and thankfully had about 2 hours left till close so brunch it was! We were quickly greeted and sat. Our server was friendly and attentive. We took a bit to decide as they have a pretty unique menu. Lots of choices of Benedict's, omelettes, skillets, wraps and more. I was surprised and happy to see many salmon breakfast options and some Vietnamese dishes as well. I got the steak Benedict which I loved. The garlic bread English muffin is my new favorite. I just wish it had more hollandaise but I'm just a saucey girl, also didn't care enough to ask. They serve Great Lake coffee and it's absolutely delicious. I do appreciate a good cup of diner coffee but this was smooth as I drink mine black. We stopped back in the following weekend for Saturday breakfast and same thing quickly greeted and sat. This time I got the chicken and waffle Benedict special. It was good, different having a chicken patty but they did list it as such. The waffle was good I just wish I would've been chicken and waffles no Benedict only because certain parts of the waffle had burst of cinnamon sugar which was good but mixed with yolk and hollandaise it was a bit weird. It's been in business for a few years now and we've come here once or twice each year. We're happy that the food and service have been consistently good throughout the years. I personally love their classic eggs Benedict. Their English muffins are a crispy around the edges but chewy in the middle. But probably the best part are the eggs. They're poached to perfection! The whole dish is visually pleasing, neatly laid out and delicious to bite into. We've also tried their corned beef hash, and the two egg breakfast plate, and all of them are spot on and super tasty. This is a great little hidden gem meaning if you don't gps it you literally will drive right past it. It has dark shaded windows and you at first think, huh is this going to be any good? I was hungry after a run and looking to cross a place off my bookmarked Yelp list so I decided on Recipes. When I walked in I was taken aback at how new and swanky the place was. I browsed the menu and saw that they have more than brunch but I just wasn't in the mood for afternoon food so I chose to try the original eggs benedict (for anyone who likes classics with a twist they have a lot of different takes on eggs benni). They had a specials menu and I convinced my guest to split a very berry French toast with me. The eggs benedict is served in a ceramic skillet with two muffins on the bottom, one big piece of ham that covers both, two eggs, hollandaise and spic. It comes with a side of perfectly fried potatoe cubes and cinnamon apples. The hollandaise was tangy and delicious. Well worth the $10 charge. The very French toast is served as a toasted croissant with mixed berries and a cream cheese filling with berry sauce. It was sweet and tart and came in at $9. Wonderful meal with a friend. The service is outstanding. I enjoyed my meal. I like this place because it's from scratch cooking. I wasn't crazy about the thinly sliced corned beef in my hash. I was a bit disappointed in that. It's like they used lunch meat type of corned beef. The potato, pepper & onion ratio was great. The eggs were perfect. The biscuits and gravy were okay. The biscuits were great but the gravy didn't have any sausage in it or not enough for my tastes. It was still good, but I expected better. The traditional eggs Benedict was great. Recently I was craving Eggs Benedict, and I learned quickly that a) Livonia blows for Bennys, and b) Farmington Hills has a couple options close to each other. We made it our mission to try both Recipes and The Breakfast Club asap. Recipes was first... Recipes is more egg-centric. A couple pancake options, French Toast, Waffle, and the occasional special for those of us with a breakfast sweet tooth. Otherwise, it's all eggs, all the time. Omelets, Bennys, Mixers (where they fold ingredients into scrambled eggs), hashes, Fritatas, etc. Fried potato cubes come on the side for most eggs, but meat sides cost extra, unless you chose a combo. I've tried their Eggs Benedict (nicely cooked eggs - aka properly runny - with tasty Hollandaise) and their Recipes combination, which is huge - 2 eggs, side of meat, hash browns and two full size pancakes - but should be for $10. Ken has tried the Atlantic Mixer and their Spinach and Sprouts Omelet. He preferred the omelet, but he likely chose the wrong mixer option for his tastes. Medium sized restaurant that gets busier Sunday than Saturday. Sufficient parking. Better than average coffee. No alcohol. An interesting item on the breakfast menu is some pretty tasty Vietnamese Spring Rolls (the dinner menu includes some Vietnamese options too, so possibly Vietnamese owned?) read more
