    Original Açaí Bowl
    Julianna H.

Got to try this new spot out, it was tasty! The juice options were expansive, but I didn't feel there were enough toast options. I'm allergic to nuts, so there was only an avocado toast for $15 available. I felt the place was a little pricey too, $18 for our Açaí bowl. That being said, it was a really yummy bowl! The person working the counter was super nice too.

Great experience! I tried their Kale Colada smoothie with fresh kale, coconut, pineapple and protein powder. It turned out a bit sweet on the first try, but Mimi offered to remake it for me. Great service! And a beautiful place to sit and get some work done. They have WiFi too.

Went in after working out this morning. Wanted something fresh light and no additional sugars. The young lady working was very kind and helpful and didn't make me feel stupid for my questions. I got a Chuy 2.0! It's amazing. Light, fresh, healthy and doesn't taste like I'm drinking grass!! Can't wait to try their smoothies, bowls and toasts! Nice clean store as well with some great healthy to-go options!

Such a great addition to the Bay Meadows community. The workers are friendly and the smoothies are great. A bit on the pricier side though.

We asked to add peanut butter to our açaí bowl after we'd already paid, and the manager kindly gave it to us on the house.

I got an iced HK style coffee + milk tea which I've never had before but was so delicious. I'd definitely come back to try the other fruity drinks too! we ordered the tom yum noodles, preserved vegetables & pork noodle soup, salt & pepper fries, and the HK style french toast with peanut butter. the french toast was our favorite- it was fluffy and chewy and was just like the HK classic. the noodle dishes were both so hearty and flavorful too, and the portions were a good size. it did take a bit long for everything to come out, but it did seem like there was only one person working and she was very kind and accommodating when we had questions about our order. we didn't mind at all, especially sitting outside and enjoying the view! overall, I'll for sure be back for the drinks and to try some other HK style street food.

Or, maybe Kazka can upgrade from the camping utensils and serving plates for a slightly more elegant experience...it didn't quite fit in, yknow? First up Hong Kong French toast. It was delivered deep fried as expected, but it was really oily so maybe the oil wasn't quite hot enough? They also forgot the condensed milk but did run it over later. We also didn't get it stuffed so maybe it also would have been better if we did? I've had better variations. Next up, the bbq pork plate. This was actually pretty good! Their homemade cha siu was tender and tasty! Egg on rice is also a classic staple here but I also felt like it was missing just a bit of something, maybe more juice from the pork? Idk, I really like when the fattiness of the HK deli meats coats the rice. Lastly, fries. Pretty standard but piping hot and fresh! I could appreciate it. The yuzu thinned out the mayo considerably but the flavor was really good still. I think I'd return. There were some combos that were already sold out when we came so we should probably give it another go.

I've driven by this place a hundred times and there's almost always a line of 20-30 people outside…read more This morning I decided to wait in that line. Super funny that the couple behind me commented that they go here all the time and there's never a line. After about a 40 minute wait, I got to the cashier at around 10:20am. Half the pastries like the ube brioche were already out so I opted for just the lattes. I played it safe and got the Tahitian vanilla latte. I will say that it's good quality coffee. Didn't need to add sugar. It didn't come super hot though so as I took it away, I downed it pretty fast! I got my mom and aunt the ice latte version of the black sesame and the brown sugar. Sounds like both were good as well. The black sesame wasn't sweet, which was to my aunt's liking. Inside, it's very clean and not crowded. What helped is that there is a sign that tells the people in line that only 6 people at a time should line up inside. If I have the time, I'd line back up. 4.5/5 stars, but I'll round up.

Okinawan brown sugar latte was a tiny bit sweet for me, but I'm a purist who's not a fan of over-flavored lattes that mask the coffee. All considered, this was still very good. Egg toast was satisfying. It is enhanced with the crunchy chile oil - which adds more flavor than does spice for those who are spice wimps like me. This is a nit, but I prefer milk bread with soft crust. The milk bread served with the toast has a harder crust. The space is brightly lit, yet comfortable environment. Some 2-person tables along the wall and bar seating. Better for singles or pairs than groups.

Whole Foods is deceptively reasonable, especially for meats, cheeses, pies, and anything included…read morein their very good weekly sales. It has a reputation for being expensive, but I have found plenty of things there that are genuinely worth buying. Some of my regular favorites are Fiscalini habanero cheese, Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee, Mary's organic chicken drumsticks, the Whole Foods jalapeño hummus, cherry or mixed berry pie, the field greens salad with goat cheese, and the Organicgirl clamshells. This is the kind of store where I go in for one thing and somehow leave with cheese, pie, hummus, salad greens, and a very specific coffee. I am also a big fan of their pre-made salads and family meals when I need dinner without the cooking. My only complaint is that the sides included with the family meals can be underwhelming. The green beans, in particular, are impressively bad. I would much rather pay the $35 and mix and match the main dish with sides we will actually enjoy than pay less and bring home vegetables nobody wants to eat. Recently, I have also noticed that the dessert and prepared-food sections often have items marked 50% off when they need to be eaten that day or by the next day. If you are already looking for a same-day meal or dessert, that can be a really good option. Between the weekly sales, excellent meats and cheeses, good pies, and the convenience of the prepared-food section, Whole Foods is one of those stores that rewards people who pay attention. Just skip the green beans.
