Today I wanted something different for lunch so I decided to try out Side Chick. They share a space with a bank so if you park in the bank lot it's $5. If you park on the street it is $3 because it's monitored by park mobile. The place is kinda small. There was one person cooking while the other person took orders. My Cuban sandwich was great ! My top bun was a little burnt. My sweet potato fries were cold. Other than that it was alright. read more

Adorable how the location is commensurate with the name. Nice little spot hidden from the immediate public eye. I mean you could literally bring your sidechick to SideChick. Excellent marketing- especially for the philanderers among us (me not included of course) Far as the food... I wasn't overwhelmed as advertised by several Yelpers that suggested it. I had the namesake (SideChick) sandwich. Plenty of flavor, but not necessarily something I'd drive across town for. But with the price point and being in Decatur Square area, I'd give it Top 10 for a lunchtime spot. I'd hit SideChick bi-weekly if it were in closer proximity to me. Service was good. But it wasn't more than 3 customers in there besides the to-go orders that were being prepared. Some things to note: Restrooms are detached. If you thought you could wash your hands, urinate or whatever, you gotta go next door. Be advised. Parking is free for 30 minutes in the deck across from it. They got beer should you choose to imbibe. Fries are real stringy. Not my speed. Just thought you should know. That being said, I'm really at 3.5 stars with SideChick but Yelp doesn't give us the ability to do fraction or decimals so they get 4-star bump. read more

I was in Atlanta for an interview and visiting my sister; this restaurant happened to be a short walk from her apartment building. It's a little hidden because you have to go into the parking lot area for the entrance when Google maps might say that it's by the streetside. Either way, there are signs pointing you in the right direction. I dropped in for lunch and it was a GREAT decision. You order at the counter and then sit and await for a delicious meal to arrive. I had the sidechick sandwich, which is a pretty standard chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and onions. I also ordered the sweet potato fries, which turned out to be waffle fries so that was a sweet bonus. If you don't order fries, it comes with chips instead. Everything was SO good - the chicken was crispy and the sauce was really good. The sweet potato fries were okay. Service was fine - it was a little slow for some reason. Many people came in after me and received their food way before me - I'm not sure if it's because they ordered to go or if my food was just slower to cook. If you're looking for cheap and tasty order-at-the-counter eats, head to SideChick. This little gem is in the middle of downtown Decatur but it's hidden from view. Turn onto Clairemont and enter through the Cornerstone Bank parking lot. (Careful not to scrape your car's underbelly on those psychedelic speed humps on E. Ponce.) I always check for free 30-minute parking near SideChick's entrance before shelling out for lot or street parking. This is a no frills, git-r-done kind of place with only a handful of booths inside and a few tables on the patio. Other than the colorful chalkboard menu over the counter, there's no real ambiance. The main draws for me are no wait, fast and friendly service and good food. They have one-pager menus of breakfast and lunch items and I've sampled a few. BREAKFAST Chicken n'Hoecakes ($8) Two cornmeal pancakes are served with a buttermilk fried chicken breast. The chicken is fried hard and I love the rustic texture of the pancakes. Best of all, it comes with a cuplet of real maple syrup. (The owner is Canadian so he can't bear the thought of artificial pancake syrup.) Real syrup boosts the flavors. French Toast ($8) Two slices of vanilla French toast are served with two eggs cooked any style and bacon or chicken sausage. If you ask, they'll plate it as a French toast sandwich. I've had fancier versions of this dish (theirs is simply dusted with powdered sugar) but it's delicious. Also, the eggs are some of the fluffiest I've tasted. LUNCH Grilled Chicken, Swiss and Bacon ($8) A buttermilk grilled chicken breast with Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. I opted for a baconless sandwich but the tender breast with its slight char and bubbling tarp of cheese was still enjoyable. Sweet Potato Waffle Fries ($2.50) These are thinner than Chick-Fil-A waffle fries...love their crunch! Collard Greens ($2.50) Not sure I understand the point of serving vegan collard greens when almost everything else on the menu has meat or dairy but they were ok. I don't enjoy sandwiches enough to frequent at lunchtime but I'm destined to be a regular for breakfast. It's close to home and in three visits I've never had to wait in line. Add the fact that SideChick offers customer loyalty cards and it's a near certainty. read more

This place is pretty good. Clever name. The customer service is immaculate. I hate that the meals don't come with fries (there's an up charge). Instead they come with chips made in the restaurant. I tried the sidechick which tasted pretty good. I wish it came with bbq sauce or something similar. It was filling as well. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since I heard about it. Cute name but I've heard parking is rare so when it was added to Postmates we gave it a try. Group order at the office and I think we all had the same opinion. The chicken filet was delish and I liked the white barbecue sauce. Im also a fan of the fresh pickles. For the price though I did expect more than a cheap cold hamburger bun. It just kind of ruined the work already done. It's very good! I honestly think that, contrary to a post below, Popeye's sandwich is better (and a lot cheaper). But the service here is amazing and you won't find that at Popeye's, nor do you get the selection. The place was a little hard to find for me but anyway, there's no reason not to go here for lunch if you're in the area. read more

This place may be a little hard to find bc it's in the back of an office building. Also free parking is nonexistent. But if you use parkmobile, you can park in front of the bank for ~$3 for 1 hour. At first I was weary bc 1 hour isn't a long tIme, but we were in and out in ~45 min. Service was quick, easy and pleasant all around. There was no wait (the place is small) so we were seated as soon as we walked in (amen bc at 11am on a Saturday that's next to impossible) If you come in here looking to eat brunch, this place falls further on the lunch side of things. That said, their breakfast chick is rly good. I'd recommend getting the jelly on the side, though. Coffee is okay. Chicken is good. BUT!! The SWEET potato fries were the best thing in the building. I would 10/10 come back JUST for the sweet potato fries. GET THEM. You won't regret it. Side note: do you think it's called sidechick because it's on the side of a building? read more

Sidechick is a nice addition to the Downtown Decatur restaurant scene. It's definitely off the beaten path and located in the rear of the Two Decatur Town Center building. They have a limited menu consisting of chicken sandwiches,sides and salads. I think I saw a burger on the menu as well. I chose the hot chick sandwich and an order of sweet potato waffle fries. The sandwich was fried, dipped in buffalo sauce, topped with bleu cheese and served on a Holeman and Finch bun. It was delicious! I got a side of their comeback sauce for the waffle fries and it was tasty as well. Everything is a la carte which made for a pretty pricey lunch. My total came up to a little under $12 and did not include a drink. read more

Greeted by warmth and hand-colored art on the walls, an ethereal angel received our order and made positive recommendations for what turned out to be the most flavorful, juiciest chicken with a sweet chili seasoning and a full-on delicious grilled cheese sandwich with the most incredible, crispy on the outside, hot and soft on the inside sweet potato waffle fries. You can park in front of the fizzy pop then go pass the public parking sign toward that ATM. Look out for the sign. It's hidden but that just makes it a treasure. I will definitely be back next week. I got a hot chick. It was super fresh. I've stopped going to chick fila and I'd been craving a chicken sandwich this was it. 100 A + No compliants Already planning my trip back. Small, intimate and amazing food. We were in town for a wedding and stopped here for breakfast. It was a hidden gem that we were so happy to have stumbled upon. My husband got the chicken n' Hoecakes and I got the Breakfast Chick. The breakfast chick comes with strawberry jam on it. I didn't know if the jam on the chicken sandwich would work, but it did! I got the sweet potato fries as the side- ridiculously good! The seasoning on them is delicious. The chicken for both meals was so perfectly fried and crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. The Hoecakes were so delicious too. I just can't say enough good about the food. The service was attentive and extremely friendly. I met a friend here for dinner last week, her recommendation. I honestly do not think I would have found it (even with Google maps) if she hadn't called and given me some extra direction. It's on the bottom floor of an office building, but has an outdoor entrance so you don't actually have to go in the building. Also, I was charged $5 for parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. I guess after regular business hours the building/businesses/someone idk make a little extra cash by charging for the lot. And they only take cash fyi. Anyway, although parking was a little ridiculous, the food is great! I got the Sidechick sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was as delicious as it way messy, very! And the white bbq sauce was the best I've ever had! Although, you should take that with a grain of salt because I haven't had very many white bbq sauces as we do not use them where I'm from. It's a pretty small place and I bet it can get a little crazy during the lunch hour, especially with all the businesses around, but we were the only ones dining in on a weekday night. Overall, decent experience and yummy food! Would definitely return or order to pick up as we saw a lot of people doing! read more

This was my first visit here. If I could give a zero I would. I ordered a double burger around noon and was told they had ran out. Which was a disappointment cause they're open til nine pm.... I came at NOON. Then I settled for a hot chick instead. I proceeded to wait 40 mins for my food while people who ordered after me got their food first. Not to mention the fact that I had to pay for an hour on the meter to even park to get to this place. Then when I finally got the food it looks like this!!!! There's like seven potato chips in here and the food wasn't even hot when I got it!!! The chicken is over fried and I am extremely pissed. Needless to say, it's underwhelming and not worth the money. Especially after waiting forty mins. Just to receive a cold, over fried chicken sandwich with a sprinkle of potato chips that are supposed to be the side smh I'll never eat here again. read more

Fabulous little restaurant that primarily serves chicken. The food came out hot and fast and both sandwiches were phenomenal. We ordered the classics, Side Chick and Hot Chick, though they had some more specialty sandwiches that I will go back and try, especially the Georgia Chick! The only reason it got docked a star is because they only had one beer left. All in all, will definitely go back and would recommend!! read more

So side bar, Decatur has a lot of good new eatery's! This one was a bit tricky to find! It's easier to park on the street and simply walk there! Besides, it's better to create more hunger before entry! Very artistic decorations! Sidechick really brings out the art of Decatur! The artists are posted and you can purchase their art! Read the reviews on this place so I decided to give it a try and I'm so happy I did. I ordered the BBQ Betty with sweet potatoe waffle fries and my cousin ordered the side chick. The food was very good and the portions left us feeling more than full. Everything was made to order and the service was good. It will definitely be a place that I return to in the future. read more

Never had someone do that before. $34 for a cheesesteak, potatoes, and small drink seems to be overly priced at a take-out spot. It would be more understanding if you could dine-in or had waiter service. I ordered the Korean Cheesesteak with smashed fried potatoes and a Bourbon Peach Punch. The drink was tasty but really small to cost $10. It looked like a 6oz cup. I would prefer to pay $5 more for a full glass. The smashed fried potatoes were covered in a sauce and some of the best potatoes I have had anywhere. The cheesesteak was made with pork (also a new experience for me) and had plenty of cheese and onions.

The Po'Boy Shop in Decatur does exactly that. I had visited before and tried a few different po'boys to go, and they were great, but this time I decided to stay and watch the Saints game. That completely changed the experience for me. The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for--Saints fans, good energy, football on the TVs, New Orleans food, and a crowd that was actually invested in the game. It felt like a legitimate gathering spot for the Who Dat Nation rather than simply a restaurant that happens to show football. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, and once again, the po'boys delivered. It's hard to beat watching the Saints with other fans while eating a good New Orleans-style po'boy hundreds of miles away from Louisiana. What I appreciate most is that The Po'Boy Shop gives Saints fans around Atlanta a place that actually feels like our spot on game day. Win or lose, that kind of atmosphere makes watching the game more enjoyable. Good food. Great staff. Great atmosphere. And plenty of Saints energy. So my first trip here I ended up getting a parking ticket that's par for the trip here. I stopped here because I wanted to get the Chicken & Hoecakes, it was close to breakfast so why not? The lady behind the counter tells me they never have breakfast, not that they are all out or I'm past breakfast serving time "They never have breakfast".
