Pimento Grilled Cheese with a salad
    Briana S.

What a great little hidden gem! It's a very small restaurant kinda located behind a building. They do have outside seating. The woman at the register (so sorry I didn't get a name) she had a great energy. She was singing and dancing. I ordered the pimento grilled cheese and oh my god! It was so good! The tomatoes with the pimento cheese is so darn good. Order it! Plus it doesn't take too long for them to make so that was a plus!

I was in the area to get my taxes done and decided to go grab a late lunch. The usual chain restaurants are all throughout Decatur but the name - Sidechick really pulled me in! Also, I love a buffalo chicken or hot chicken sandwich. The meal itself - ATL Chick and a side salad was very tasty. The sandwich has their house sauce and lemon pepper sprinkles. I will say the quality of the chicken breast stood out. Everything is cooked fresh to order. The salad was basic - lettuce, tomato, cucumber and onion. The vinaigrette did standout and was tasty. The location is somewhat tricky. It's a Clairemont Ave address but you can get there from Church Street too. It sits tucked away in an office park complex beside a garage. The immediate parking out front is $10 (the garage is free and a few steps away). It's all a bit misleading because this was Monday at about 2:15 PM and the lot was charging $10 with an attendant. Service....made this review a 3/5. The front counter, chef, server and order taker (phone in) is all the same person. A one man show! I applaud his tenacity but servicing guests dining in was little to nothing. I noticed the place was rather dirty - windows and table tops. A trash can overfilled. Just small but important things that a person on the counter and floor could do. I'm sure the locals in the area rely on the takeout - several calls and people came to-go. I love the interesting takes on a chicken sandwich so I'd return to try it along with the collard greens and slaw they were out of.

food was tasty and very flavorful! the service was quick too! this place is hidden away so it was a little difficult to find and parking isnt the best but its still worth a visit! the sweet potato fries were amazing!

Great little place tucked on a backstreet in Decatur. I worry about that because same location had had 3 restaurants in 3 years. We got the Canadian plate- chicken 2 cornbread pancakes and collard greens. Don't see how that's Canadian but also the Georgia chicken sandwich sub chips for green tomatoes for an additional tip al 2.50. Tomatoes are worth the up charge all day. Cut thick French fry and fried a golden brown served with a side of ranch- YUM. All chickens were golden and juicy and good portions, the greens went better with the pancakes vs on theiit own but still tasty. The GA chicken sandwich coMes with goat cheese, red onions peach preserves and arugula. Combination works together well. Visit this hometown place and keep it there for a bit!

I was in the area and looking for a place to grab lunch and once I saw the name I had to try it haha! It's definitely a hidden gem, the fried chicken sandwich was amazing! My friend got the pimento grilled cheese and loved it as well. I love the vibes inside and the lady taking our order was super friendly. Definitely stop by if you are in the area!

Sooooo I was looking for chill but tasty spot to do brunch near Lithonia, GA during MLK weekend so I sought the assistance of the Yelp Gods and found Side Chick. I had narrowed down my options two places but when I took a deeper dive into Side Chick's menu I was sold. There were sandwich combos that I could only dream of and two types of green tomatoes. Just a heads up when you go to Side Chick head to the back of the building it took a minute to find the location because we didn't know it was in a commercial building. Side Chick was only doing to go but they were accommodating since we didn't know it was dine in only. The vibe and artwork in Side Chick is fun. The gentlemen who helped us were so nice and helpful. I couldn't decide between the Georgia and Hot Chick sandwiches. After being walked through whether I wanted a savory or savory/sweet sandwich I went with the Georgia Peach. Also if you know me, you know I love goat cheese on about anything lol. Also I was intrigued by the combo of peach, goat cheese and fried chicken. Let me say I was happy, it wasn't too sweet or savory it was just right. I don't like soggy bread and I didn't experience that at all so I was a happy camper. Per the sides, I was so hungry by the time we got there so I wanted all of the sides but I ended up with just the fries, cole slaw, fried green tomatoes. Let me say it also didn't help that the sides weren't pricey at all. The cole slaw had a kick to it so if you aren't ready for a little spice this isn't the cole slaw for you. Everything was good but to be honest I liked my brunch partner's pickled green tomatoes (pictured) better. I have never had that before and it was a pleasant surprise. Again goat cheese was involved. The tomatoes had such a good flavor, refreshing and crisp. I could totally eat some now. Our food was joined with mimosas and then I added the Pellegrini Arancia to make an even nicer mimosa. I am already planning my next trip to Side Chick it was all really good. FYI went with a real picky eater who enjoyed her food so Side Chick can serve anybody in your life. She enjoyed her Hot Chick sandwich and is also planning her trip back to Side Chick.

The food was delicious, the service was great and the restaurant was a cute quick place. I had the ATL chick (lemon pepper, buffalo sauce and ranch) with a side of fried green tomatoes (cut like fries, something I've never had).

Best chicken we had in Atlanta! Cool vibes with local art on the walls and friendly service.

Atl chick (no onion) and Sweet Potato Waffle Fries

Sometimes when I forget to write a review right away I get an email asking if the place was everything I hoped for. Well let me tell y'all that yes, Sidechick was! It was a life changing experience and I cannot even explain the full level of amazingness they have going on. It's a cute little place nestled between Bank of America and commerce bank. It's probably impossible to see if not looking for it. On the weekends I believe you have to pay to park. I went during the week and luckily found a 30 min spot right in front which was nice. There's a few booths and tables inside and they also have lots of art all around which I also believe is for sale. They are insanely friendly and it feels like home as soon as you walk in! I felt so welcomed. NOW for the food. Per my cousin's recommendation, I tried the ATL chick (no onion) and the sweet potato waffle fries and I couldn't have been happier. I doubt I could've gone wrong with any other option though. The atl chick is a buffalo chicken sandwich also seasoned with lemon pepper (say no more!!) and topped with ranch and of course the usual pickles, tomato, and onion. The sweet potato fries...OH MY GOODNESS...amazing! And the comeback sauce they put with them?! The name is perfect because it wants you going back everyday for more. 5/5 please try this place. I was not disappointed, you won't be either, and I can't wait to go back!

Is this restaurant usually open on the weekends? Have wanted to go multiple times but never open on a Saturday or Sunday, seems very weird.

I believe it is only open during the work week.

We started with the bucket of fries for the table and sampled all the dipping sauces: garlic aioli, sweet chili BBQ, and Diablo. The Diablo wasn't spicy like I expected, but it had really great flavor. The garlic aioli was my personal favorite, while the sweet chili BBQ was the crowd favorite around the table. For my meal, I ordered the blackened burger with bacon and jalapeños, plus the kale Caesar salad. Adding the bacon and jalapeños was definitely the right move! The burger was juicy, flavorful, and incredibly filling. The kale Caesar was much larger than I expected, so keep that in mind if you're ordering it as a side. We also tried the pork belly, which I'd give a 7.5/10. It was good, but it wasn't the standout dish of the meal. For drinks, the Seed Spitter was incredibly fresh and refreshing, and the Strawberry Delight was another solid choice. Overall, Leon's has a relaxed neighborhood vibe with generous portions, flavorful food, and fun sauces to try. I'd definitely come back. Overall rating: 8/10.

My mothers and I visited Platez last night for a nice dinner out before a show. We didn't have a…read morereservation, but was seated immediately. There was some confusion on where to enter the building due to lack of signage, but we figured it out. Upon entering, I immediately was overwhelmed by how loud the music was. I have sensory issues and asked if we could be seated outside, but was told that there was a party outside. We were seated inside and no one in my group could hear each other speak the whole time we ate due to how loud the music was. We couldn't hear the server either. Our server immediately gave us menus, silverware, and waters. He didn't introduce himself or really say much of anything. We were left to look at the menus for 5-10 minutes. Upon looking at the menus, we were extremely disappointed to see that much of what we came for was not available due to it being a brunch item. This was not communicated ANYWHERE on the website and we would not have chosen to dine here had we known. We chose to stay and eat due to already paying $10 for parking across the street. Once we came to terms with the fact that we would not be eating french toast or waffles, we began looking at the menu to decide what to order. It was then that I noticed how expensive everything was. The food is even more expensive than the menu on the website, and the item that I decided upon - the catfish and grits - was $30. This is unreasonably expensive for what it was and I would have priced it at about $18 to be generous. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food and eventually my catfish and grits and my mother's shrimp and grits were served. The sauce around the grits was cold, and the grits themselves weren't super hot. It was obvious that they had been sitting while the fish and shrimp was being cooked. The portion itself was too much to eat in one sitting and grits are not something that would reheat well so we left them instead of trying to take them home. When our grits were served, the waiter told us my step-mother's smothered pork chop would be right out. It did not come for another 10 minutes. One of her sides was a salad, but not even that was brought out. While my mother and I's grits were phenomenal in flavor, my step-mother's pork chop was barely edible. She said that it was tough, especially when she was not provided anything more than a butter knife to cut with, and the gravy on top was so salty that I gagged upon tasting it. It tasted like gravy mix from a packet that was combined with the drippings from a meat that had already been seasoned. My step-mother prefers things to be more salty, but even she had to peel the breading off to be able to eat the pork chop. Keep in mind, this was also about $30. Our service was poor. The waiter didn't introduce himself, as I said, and he did not ask if we wanted anything more than water to drink. He was barely able to be heard over the loud music, but he also didn't say much. He did not check up on us during our meal or say anything while we waited 40+ minutes for our food. And when we went up to the cash register to pay our bill, we were left standing there for about 5 minutes while various servers and workers walked by and went behind the register without even acknowledging our presence. This was very off-putting and a terrible way to end a lackluster dinning experience. Upon paying our bill, we were forced to pay a mandatory 15% tip and a 7% service fee. And then they had the audacity to ask for an additional tip despite their poor service. We all left Platez feeling very disappointed, despite how delicious my mother and I's grits were. We all had the sentiment that we would have had a better time eating at Waffle House because we went for brunch food in the first place. Platez is (in my opinion) horribly overpriced and the service was terrible. I try to be positive, but I would never come here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

It took well over an hour and a half after ordering for our food to arrive. I ordered the chicken & waffles, cornbread bites, and a strawberry peach margarita. The cornbread bites with honey drizzle were a nice start, and the margarita was balanced and refreshing. Unfortunately, the chicken--though cooked properly--wasn't seasoned, and the waffle was overcooked. On top of that, the service left much to be desired. I had to ask multiple times for condiments and waited over 20 minutes just to receive them. Customer service is very important to me, and this really hurt the experience. What made it worse was the bill. A large party tip, an extra "service fee," and then a regular tip option added up to an outrageous total -- especially considering the lack of preparation, slow service, and disappointing food. Overall, while the drinks were good, the combination of unseasoned food, long waits, and excessive charges makes it hard for me to recommend this place or want to return.

Once they arrived, the staff gave us a few minutes to make sure the 2 had a chance to look at the menus. We ordered appetizers to start...corn bread, sage fried pierogies and poutine. We weren't sure about the poutine because we didn't see any gravy, we did see the cheese curds on the fries, but once we finally dug in, the gravy was at the bottom. The pierogies were tasty. We asked if they could cut the cornbread so each of us could get a taste, which they did. Corn bread had a toasted texture, and the honey butter was delicious! Everyone ordered something different. One had fish and chips, which would seem to be a likely order for a pub. Their special for the day was a ruben. Another ordered a falafel sandwich, and I think 2 salmon BLT's and then one salad with rainbow trout. Portions were not overwhelming, but we realized that we were full from the appetizers and almost everyone ended up taking most of their main choices in doggie bags (boxes). Service was slow, almost an hour to get our food and we came on a weekday morning (can't even imagine the weekend rush!). The biscuits are DELICIOUS especially with the apple butter they have on the table, but I would skip the cornbread. Super super dry and grainy. Also the fried okra was tough to get through because of the size. I do wish they maybe had some fresh juice options available in addition to all of the coffees and teas, but it was fine overall and I wouldn't mind going again.

Our server was really nice and helped explain the menu to us because we had questions for sure. For food: I got a beef patty and skillet corn bread while my friend had a dish with green bananas. I thought the beef patty was good but the corn bread was a bit hard although the berry jam did make it a little softer. My friend thought her dish was just alright. The ambiance for the place was great and I enjoyed the vibe. But the food was just alright.

I heard mostly positive things about this restaurant from a few family members, so I was curious to check it out. This Caribbean/Southern fusion spot is located as the anchor of a strip mall with other restaurants next door. The great thing is that there is plenty of parking. We came on a Saturday evening; thankfully it was not crowded, so we were able to sit down immediately. Food: I ordered the stewed chicken wings which comes with plantains and jasmine rice. I also ordered a side of roasted brussel sprouts. The wings were very good, falling off the bone tender. I also loved the flavoring of the rice, and the plantains were perfectly sweet. I was not a big fan of the brussel sprouts. They had a thick honey sauce on them that was overpowering, and they were very soft in texture. The positive side is that they give you a ton of food for the price. Service: There weren't many staff working this evening from what I could see. Our server greeted us promptly and checked on us several times before we ordered food. Once we ordered our food, it honestly went down hill. It just took extremely long to get anyone's attention for help. It also took close to 30 mins just to get our check. When the check came, they initially said they couldn't split it and added an automatic 20% gratuity. On their site, it says they do that for parties of 4 or more, but we were only a party of 3. The manager let the server split the check, but they would not remove the gratuity. I always tip well, so it wasn't the end of the world, it was just the principle for me. While I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, I might consider checking them out again for brunch.
