Another fabulous meal and a great server, Elise. We had the neighborhood night meal as shown in the photo which is a great value in addition to being first class.

Oysters and deviled eggs and their potato pancake with mushrooms!

Everything was wonderful! Loved the ambiance! Cocktails were $12, which is fantastic! Wines by the glass were $9. They change their menu seasonally, so I can only comment on what we ate for the fall menu, but everything was incredible! The oysters (raw and baked were both great). Highly suggest their deviled eggs. The orchiaetta pasta was wonderful, lots of crab (subbed for the sausage), lots of pine nuts and cheese, I ordered a small and it was huge! Bartenders were great! We had a wonderful experience!

Lovely modern ambience and attentive service. I enjoyed their holiday themed cocktails, they have a very well stocked liquor bar! Came after the dinner crowd had left and it wasn't too difficult to get seated.

Girls night at the iconic Sidecar!!!

My friends consider Sidecar to be our official backdrop to a good night, the mixologist truly provide the best drinks in the city, the menu transports you to Europe and the music provides an amazing ambiance. The service is spectacular and you'll never meet a stranger. This is one of the coolest bars in the area!!!

This charming European-style eatery located in downtown Roanoke is one of my favorite restaurants there. It first opened its door on February 20th, 2020, and since then has been offering an intimate and upscale Gastropub experience. Last year I had the privilege of dining there for the first time on one of their Neighborhood Nights with a 3 course Menu Special. I invite you to go back and read that review as well and view my photographs complimenting it. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. So this Wednesday, when their Neighborhood Night 3 course Menu Special featured Gazpacho, a classic cold Spanish soup that originated in Andalusia, Spain, I decided to go dine there once more and do a follow-up review. Andalusian cuisine, is deeply influenced by the region's rich history and diverse culinary traditions, reflecting the influences of its diverse past, including Moorish, Christian, and Jewish traditions. My deep Spanish roots with grandparents from both Asturian and Catalunyan ancestry, and having visited Spain and having had Gazpacho there, makes me very curious to try it here in Roanoke, Virginia, from the Chef of Sidecar Restaurant, that in the past has surprised me with samples of exquisite cuisines. After making my reservation online for 5:00pm from my cellphone, I arrived on-time right as they opened the door and after another party of two entered right in front of me. The host graciously greeted me and after verifying my reservation took me to one of the booths right in front of the bar and handed me copies of the menus, including the one for their Neighborhood Night for this Wednesday. Soon after, my friendly server arrived and greeted me with a big smile and welcoming attitude. She helped me pick out a Mocktail to drink and took my order. The Neighborhood Night Menu included the Gazpacho small plate, the main entrée of Spanish Seafood Risotto with scallops, Prince Edward Island mussels, jumbo shrimp, roasted red peppers and peas. And for dessert, a Basque Cheesecake. The ambiance of the place was very pleasant and relaxed and all the employees contributed to the friendly yet distinguish atmosphere of the restaurant. My server brought me my drink which was amazing. I should have known it would be because the name of the restaurant originated from the Sidecar Cocktail. This is a classic cocktail traditionally made with Cognac, an Orange liquor like Cointreau, and Lemon juice. The cocktail is said to be named after the motorcycle sidecar, either in reference to its origin story involving a regular patron of a bar who always arrived in a sidecar, or simply inspired by the vehicle's appearance.  Then a server assistant brought me the famous Gazpacho soup and two slices of a baguette toasted. The Gazpacho looked marvelous and when I put the first spoonful of it in my mouth it tasted like glory. What an amazing flavor. I had tasted genuine Gazpacho before, even in the land where it was originated but this one tasted like a Gourmet Gazpacho, a culinary masterpiece! Immediately when my server came by I sent my compliments to the Chef for creating the best Gazpacho that I have ever had with a flavor that I will never forget. Then came the main entrée: the Spanish Seafood Risotto. A picture is worth a thousand words. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourselves the culinary work of art that I greatly enjoyed dining. And finally for the Grand Finale, the Basque Cheesecake made a sweet and delightful dessert to give closure to an extraordinary dining experience at a restaurant which is one of the Star City's greatest pride. Needless to say, if ever you're downtown, you should definitely try this restaurant out. It is one of those one of a kind gems which you can't describe but can admire through the beauty of its brilliance.

Amazing time here! The ambiance is chic, elegant, and upscale without being stuffy. It's a perfect spot for date night or time out with friends. The service was excellent. We sat at the bar and our server/bartender was so attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. He made amazing drinks and had wonderful suggestions for food based on our preferences. The drinks were delicious and well balanced. The food was yummy, well seasoned, and beautifully plated. The mushrooms were the tastiest I've ever had. We got half portions of the sea-bass and lamb meatball pasta and it was perfection and so filling. Highly recommend this place!

Steak frites with parmasian garlic sauce. Cooked to perfection. Best steak I've ever had.

Sidecar is my new Parisian escape without leaving town! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for something special. The lighting was soft and golden absolutely dreamy. The sleek counters and stunning bar setup gave it that polished charm that feels upscale yet cozy. You want to linger here. I ordered the steak frites and wow. Perfectly cooked medium, unbelievably tender, and paired with a Parmesan sauce that deserves its own round of applause. I felt like I had been whisked away to a little bistro in the heart of France. The drink menu was full of thoughtful, playful options definitely coming back to explore more of it (ideally from one of their comfy booths next time...manifesting!). The Napoleon chocolate dessert? To die for. It's rich, refined, and makes a strong case for always saving room for dessert. The bar staff was friendly and attentive, striking that perfect balance of making you feel welcome without hovering. Sidecar nails that elusive mix of great ambiance, great food, and great vibes. Already planning my return visit and lowkey hoping this review earns me an invite to the next Yelp Elite soirée. Sidecar deserves to be shared.

Every single thing here was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend eating here! It's cozy, clean and cute! Our server was so friendly and accommodating. She recommended a few things to our table and they all were delicious. The oysters topped with cheese were so flavorful. The brussel sprouts were crispy! Steak cooked to perfection with a great seasoning. Ranch was homemade. You HAVE to finish up dinner with the sticky toffee pudding, I could've eaten 3 more.

I have been traveling through Roanoke for decades but this was my first and not by any means my last meal at Sidecar. Located in downtown Roanoke, the Sidecar is a five star dining experience at all levels. The food is great, the whiskey selection even better and the service tops the heap. Nice work people!

I always have an amazing time when I eat at Sidecar! This was my second time coming and once again I got the steak frites with the garlic aioli sauce. Honestly hard to branch out when that dish hits every time , but I definitely want to try more of the menu because everything coming out of the kitchen looks amazing. I recommend making a reservation because it gets packed on the weekends. That said, if you show up early enough you can usually grab a seat at the bar and still get great service. Overall, love the vibe here and definitely planning to come back soon!

Great night cap stop... from the cocktails to the plates you can get from their late dinner menu was pleasantly surprising. We ordered their 4 option charcuterie board with duck pastrami, brasoala, aged Gouda, and a soft cheese cottonbell. The staff was attentive and quick to attend to anything we needed. Definitely a nice spot to get drinks and a nice meal!

Came for a special night out tonight and it was great! We arrived a bit early for our reservation and the host was really great about getting everyone situated and comfortable. He sat us at the bar and told us he'd come snag us once our table was ready. We both had a drink (bonus they have mocktails) and ordered a pretzel. Our table was ready and they brought the pretzel directly there. The restaurant is beautiful and feels so upscale every time. We ordered the larger portions and they were huge. With the appetizer we definitely would've been full with the smaller portion but leftovers are always great :) Such a great place for special occasions or just a nice night out.

They're not open every day so be sure and check their hours before you head there. The pulled pork was lean and fresh with the smoky flavor you're looking for. The non-mayo based slaw was excellent with lots of flavor that went perfectly with the pork. The cabbage was also enjoyable with more flavor than you'd expect and the BBQ beans were also top notch with a unique cinnamon type flavor. I also enjoyed their version of the Georgia Mustard BBQ sauce. We were full but got some banana pudding to go and it was very enjoyable. I recommend grabbing some to go. We pulled in and walked in, and sure enough, it was open. I'm so glad, too. The food was very good. Before I get to that, let me first compliment the ownership and staff of this establishment on their incredible renovation with this place. It had such a cozy feel to it when I first walked in, and we were immediately welcomed by the owner, Lejla. She is a very welcoming person who made sure our experience was as good as it could be. The decor of this place was also nice. It has a modern southern charm to it. Also paying tribute to the military with the wall art and to the city of Waynesboro with the old historic pictures. They seem to also have a decent beer menu. I didn't partake in it, but I noticed some good selections. There was a decent amount of seating in the back, plus I saw a large table in the front that held at least 6-8 people. Lejla also mentioned that once the weather gets warmer, she'll be opening up the patio that will have an additional 10 tables out there. Now, to the food, which is what everyone wants to know about. My wife and I both got the pulled pork plates. Which was $12. It came, of course, with a large amount of pulled pork, a side, and cole slaw. They have two different types of cole slaw, creamy and crunchy. The crunchy is vinegar based slaw with banana peppers added(no seeds). The creamy is your standard slaw. You also got to pick between 3 different sauces for your pulled pork(sweet, spicy, and Carolina). We added a bun for an additional $1, and we added another side for an additional $4. Our sides, we both got the smoked macaroni and cheese, and I also got the baked beans, and my wife also got the mashed potatoes. The food was amazingly good! The pulled pork was so tender, and it had a great smoked flavor. By the time I made my sandwich, it was HUGE. It took everything I had to keep it together. We both got the Carolina sauce, and it is a well-made Carolina sauce. It's very strong tasting in a great way. My wife got the crunchy slaw(the vinegar based), and she said it added even more of a flavor to her pulled pork sandwhich. The portion size of everything we received was also incredible! The smoked macaroni and cheese was great, and the baked beans were probably in the top best I've ever had. The mashed potatoes had a great smooth buttery taste to them. Overall, it was a great experience! Everything was top-notch. To the service and staff who were all friendly and helpful. To the comfortable atmosphere and incredible food. I can't wait to experience this place for a long time. By the way, they have quite a bit of options with their menu, and if I enjoyed their pulled pork this much, then I can only imagine how great the rest of the menu items are. Don't forget to check out their deserts out front in the case as well. We grabbed some banana pudding to have later on at home, and it was great, too! Go and support this place. You won't be disappointed.

To drink I ordered a medium Caffè Mocha. To eat I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich with a Cloverdale Plain Bagel, with Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. And finish with something sweet, a Cherry Danish. The Mocha was amazingly good The Bagel was very large and fresh; crunchy on the outside and soft and moist ingredients the inside with a nice size portion of Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. I spent some time there and was able to meet one of the employees who happened to arrive during this time. I have truly enjoyed dining in each and every one of them. But Bread Craft, located in the Star City of Roanoke, is in a class of its own. After being ranked 4th among Yelp's Top 50 Most Prolific Elites of 2025, a distinction recognizing my consistent community engagement and high-quality contributions, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and establishments, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to go back and write follow-up reviews on those places that impressed me the most during 2025, and Bread Craft Bakery, located in Downtown Roanoke, is the perfect example of one of them. Bread Craft is a premier, artisan European-style bakery established in 2006 by owner Alex Eliades, who besides having a passion for baking, has over 25 years of baking experience, and leads the bakery focusing on traditional slow-fermentation techniques. The bakery is known for its high-quality, scratch-made sourdough, pastries, and Croissants. It evolved from a wholesale operation into a popular 6,000 square foot café on Church Avenue, also supplying local restaurants. The bakery specializes in Franch and German-style baking, utilizing sourdough as a natural leavener. It servers breakfast and lunch items, including sandwiches, salads, and some creative breakfast egg entrées. They are open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8:00AM - 2:00PM and are well known for running out of items before the end of the day. For this review I visited the Bakery / Café for breakfast on two consecutive Wednesdays. The first Wednesday I arrived too late to be able to have their Chorizo & Eggs Cocotte from their Breakfast menu. Breakfast is only served until noon, and I found out about this on that day. So instead I had a Cheese Danish and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Both items were delicious. On the second Wednesday I arrived much earlier for breakfast. Luckily, right before a whole rush of customers arriving to place Take-out orders. As soon as I walked inside I immediately felt comfortable with its clean and contemporary architectural design and decor, and an exposed red brick wall that gave it a warm ambiance. One can see that the owner spent a substantial amount in renovating the place when they moved here, and that they took good care of it, because it looked as if it had just opened for the very first time yesterday. While I was looking over all the baked items they had, I received a friendly greeting and warm welcome from a lady behind the counter who seemed to be the manager and took my order. To start I ordered a Chorizo Quiche which happened to be the Quiche of the day, and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Then since I was planning to turn this into a Brunch, for my main entrée I ordered their Chorizo Cocotte from the Breakfast menu. And for dessert I had a Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant that was simply irresistible. Everything tasted amazingly delicious, especially since I love Chorizo. The Quiche had an amazing crust with the eggs inside cooked with the perfect amount of chorizo. The Chorizo Cocotte was served in an elongated bowl with two poached eggs over Spanish sausage, accompanied by three slices of freshly made Baguette. And if all this wasn't enough, the Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant was the perfect ending dessert to this fabulous put together Brunch. Oh and the coffee was the best of the best. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food. What an outstanding dining experience I just had at Bread Craft. Wonderful ambiance, amazing food, and extraordinary customer service. I highly recommend this Bakery/Café whenever you're in the area. I'm absolutely certain it will become one of your favorites bakery.

Regardless, the food they offered was great for vegetarian diets, substantial, and delicious, and you'd struggle to find better in this part of the country or in most other parts of the country.

A few years ago I used to frequent this Coffee Shop often and enjoy drinking my Caffè Mochas…read more together with some hot breakfast sandwiches there. As a matter of fact my main Yelp profile picture was taken there in that Coffee Shop. But during covid they put a hold on the hot breakfasts and only served hot coffee, tea, muffins, danishes, and cinnamon rolls. So I decided to return to the place to see how it was doing, see what had changed, have a cup of coffee and breakfast there, and write a review. I arrived early in the morning at around 7:00am, the time the Downtown Coffee Shop opens. A young man behind the counter greeted me and asked me if I knew what I wanted to order as soon as I arrived. I asked him if they now had hot breakfasts again like in the time before covid. But he told me that in this store in particular they had discontinued the hot breakfasts. So I ordered a Caffè Mocha and a cinnamon roll. As I waited for the coffee to be made and served I walked around the store and found that the area for community announcements and for people to leave their business cards was still there as well as some of the complimentary magazines, but not all they use to have. I also found that the glass built into the wall display case they used to have full of t-shirts, coffee mugs and tumblers was completely empty, to the point of looking as it had been abandoned. Also, the wall where they used to exhibit for sale artworks of artists members of our community no longer was full. At this time my Coffee and cinnamon rolls were ready, so I took them from the counter. Heated the cinnamon roll in the microwave and had my breakfast. The coffee was as good as always and the cinnamon roll was fine. Later I asked the barista about what I earlier had found and he just confirmed the fact and told me that in the other of their stores they did have everything that was missing in this store, which to me now looked like one of those abandoned old Malls after a new one just opened in town. I wondered and asked myself: How could a local chain such as Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea have abandoned their Downtown Roanoke store in this way? I know there is competition, but how can it compete with nothing creative to do so. This store is very significant to the Downtown area, to the Roanoke community, and to the tourist that frequent the area. So rather than give it a 3 rating, I will give it a 4, and give you the benefit of the doubt, with the hope that after the Management of the Mill Mountain Coffee Shop chain reads my review they put their act together and do what is needed to bring the Star to this Mill Mountain Coffee Shop again. For the purpose of my reviews is not to point out the negative, but to give constructive criticism so that both the store can improve and the community can benefit by having a quality place in which to enjoy a quality product in a relaxing and beautiful environment. A business should not run just to survive but to grow so that both the community and the owners profit from it. The famous Q2. Quality will bring Quantity. Come on, I believe in you. Let's do what is needed so next time not only will you have earned a 5 Star review in paper but also in the eyes of the community of the great Star City of Roanoke in the Commonwealth of Virginia!

It's a cute little hipster coffee shop serving locally roasted fresh coffee and baked goods, and featuring local events. Just one person was working when we visited but out items came out quick. The worker thankfully wasn't swamped by orders or anything, but seemed to have to keep busy. I ordered a limeade, along with a fresh cranberry orange muffin. This bite to eat proved to be delicious and refreshing. My friends also enjoyed their coffee and baked goods!! We then sat in the warm cafe for a bit before heading back out to the cold city. It proved to be quite comfy and I was able to charge my phone! I really love Roanoke and all it has to offer - one of my fav features is this cute coffee and tea shop!! Stop in and get a cold or hot beverage and a snack on the go, or stay a while!!
