The main part of the Coffee House, where the coffees are made, from the menu on the wall.

Roasters Next Door Craft Coffee is an amazingly delicious coffee that I discovered by taking the Road less traveled in search of RND Coffee in 1114 Main Street SW, Roanoke, Virginia. When I arrived to the place, it was a rustic but very clean and freshly painted purple brick building with large windows on the outside and a combination of exposed red bricks and beautiful polished hardwood floors on the inside A few minutes after I arrived, a young lady turned on the lights inside and open the doors to the place. AsvI entered the door she greeted me with welcoming smile and told me a little about the place and the coffee and pastries sold there. I ordered an Everything Bagel with plain cream cheese which was made in-house and a 16oz Cafe Latte with Dutch Mocha. The coffee served in a large coffee cup looked and tasted amazing. And the bagel with the home made cream cheese as well. I enjoyed having breakfast in this comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and highly recommend it to all of you reading this review.

Super trendy local cafe with coffee, pastries and savory breakfast options. The best part for me? Vegan options! I had a vegan carrot cake muffin with a glaze drizzle and oat milk horchata latte--both SO good. They also have avocado toast if you're vegan (but on this particle day they were out of it which was a bummer). 10+ points for having any vegan options at all which has felt super rare while visiting the area. If they offered vegan cream cheese with vegan bagels in the future that would even better. Cute place, lots of seating inside and a few seats outside. Very friendly staff. All around good energy and would love to go again anytime.

I got the turkey, avocado toast with pickled onions and it was 10/10! My sister got an everything bagel that came with whipped cream cheese, which seemed to enjoy a lot too! The matcha was solid, and my sister enjoyed her latte too! Overall, a solid place! Service was quick even when ordering food. I think the ambiance of the coffee shop and food options are what makes it! 10/10 experience, would recommend if your looking for a quaint small town café.

The space is small and nice. There are about 16 seats total. The roasted veggie breakfast bagel is great! We got a cold brew and an iced oat milk latte.

There is a decent line and every seat taken. It took us 30 minutes to get our drink. The place was really nice and comfortable. Unfortunately, the coffee was a bit bitter and not great.

First coffee stop in Roanoke! Amazing, flavorful coffee! We also tried a blueberry muffin and highly recommend. Staff were very kind! It's a quaint and cozy shop with a couple of tables to relax at out front!

You can count me in for any coffee shop, but one that's purple? That makes its own syrups? That has lots of plants? It's hard not to be obsessed! There were lots of people working inside/out front, so you just know it's a vibe and the internet is actually functional. I definitely plan on bringing my work here in the future. I didn't see a designated parking lot, but the street parking adjacent to the building was free. I also thought the bathrooms were ESPECIALLY clean. Overall, if you haven't tried this spot, I think this is some of the best coffee in the area.

I was in town for the weekend and had to make a stop at RND, the best cafe in Roanoke. I got a hot toasted cardamom latte with oatmilk. It was divine. The homemade cardamom syrup was perfect. The staff are so friendly and the space is so cozy and welcoming. Perfect spot to meet up with friends!

RND coffee in the Wasena Park area is a great local roaster in a historic part of town. Tons of street parking and his aesthetically pleasing local roaster awaits. The store fits perfect into its neighborhood surroundings it's fantastic. RND (Roaster Next Door) is just that, your local coffee brew. I ordered the chai tea latte and man, it was phenomenal. I get a chair tea often, but this one, has that extra special something. Flavor was sooooo good, it made me make a noise, you know one of those 'ooooo yeah' noises, but not at all like Macho Man Randy Savage. They have made the store social distance so the seating is limited, bit still appointed nicely. Many people we're popping in to get their online order, so you can tell it's a local favorite. Bathrooms were clean and they make their drinks fast, there is food to order as well. They even have some canned cold nitro brew six packs. It was an awesome find and if I was from town RND would become a spot of many visits and hang time with friends. Enjoy this Roanoke Roaster, their drinks are good good good. Oooooooo Yeah!!

RND is a quaint coffee shop with cool vibes! The baristas were friendly and informative. They definitely wanted me to have the right drink for what I was thinking. If it wasn't so early in the morning, I definitely wanted to try the Nitro float (nitro coffee and ice cream). But I trusted my gut and went with a lavender and thyme latte. And oh em gee. This is my favorite lavender drink! The thyme adds a savory finish to this not too sweet drink. Check them out!

They also have another location in nearby Salem. I used the app for getting in line which typically works flawlessly. My time to arrive was 15-20 and upon arrival in that frame a table was ready. A host seated us with menus and silverware. Our group of four looked over the menu as a waitress arrived minutes later. She got the drink order and arrived back in short order. We were ready to order. I cannot remember what everyone got, but I had the Spring chimichurri special and added an avocado. The dining room was packed as was their outdoor patio. The noise was elevated, but not piercing. We had a table near the patio. I enjoyed my coffee as we waited for brunch orders. It's impossible to not be impressed with the hard working staff as they quickly moved through the dining room. After around 15 to no more than 20 minutes the food hit the table. The millionaire bacon is always a huge hit and recommend. Everyone's dishes were correct. My dish overall looked smaller than I've had before. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. The avocado add was two tiny pieces which was disappointing. When our waitress checked in I alerted her the avocado add on was underwhelming. She immediately addressed it with additional. She also got another water craft. Checkout was efficient up front. In my opinion First Watch offers a higher level service, good and atmosphere. I plan on returning with additional visits in Roanoke coming up this Summer.

We had a very nice waitress - food came out quickly. I wish I would have gotten some inside pictures - I'm a bit nervous when it comes to that - but it's spacious and trendy inside! I already plan to come back - to try that lemon blueberry cornbread!

And what I found completely amazed me, and exceeded my highest of expectations. After being awarded the NC Triad Yelp Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea, near Tanglewood Mall, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. The Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea on Starkey Road in Roanoke, VA, is a former bank that was converted into a coffee shop by Blake Construction, a company that also handles many of their projects. This location opened in 2012, after the original downtown Roanoke store was established in 1990 by founder Dave Johnson. The Starkey Road location featured a unique renovation, including turning the old vault into a walk-in cooler and adding a drive-up window.  When I entered the Coffee Shop today, I was attracted by its magical cozy ambiance and by the fine lines and curves of its renovation architectural design. Known for its artisanal coffee blends and curated tea selections, I was also impressed with their menu, that besides freshly baked pastries, also included a nice egg variety plates for breakfast and creative sandwiches for lunch. The place offered a cozy retreat for coffee enthusiasts. College students could take advantage of their Free WiFi to research and write their reports using their laptops. Friends could meet there to spend quality time talking to each other. Entrepreneurs could use the place to brainstorm business ideas over a cup of savory coffee. Art enthusiasts could view the artists display works, and even purchase one to add to their collection. When it was my turn to make my order, I approached the counter and a bright and friendly young lady took my order. I ordered a breakfast plate with two fried eggs over easy, bacon, and white toast, with a large Mocha Coffee to drink. The cook did an excellent job cooking my food, just how I had asked it done. At the entrance there was a Community Bulletin Board with different announcements and advertisements. I happened to find one for this year's performance of the Nutcracker at the Burgland Center, which I had been wondering about when ticket sales were selling. In conclusion, I highly recommend this coffee shop, not only for its great coffee and tea, for its food menu, for its exceptional customer service, and cozy atmosphere, that together make for an extraordinary dining experience.

Last time I visited this restaurant and wrote a review I found it simply amazing: its decor, its ambiance, its food, and most important of all, its excellent customer service by its friendly and very efficient servers. I invite you to read that review and view my photographs accompanying it to get a better sense of my experience here, then. However, this time around, it wasn't so good. And I judge restaurants by their consistency of quality of food and service. This time, the ambiance was nice and the service was excellent by a friendly young lady server, but the quality of the food left much to be desired, especially the way it was cooked. The cook was a total disappointment. I was one of the first ones there when they opened their doors. When I entered, a group of friendly and eager to serve servers who where gathered around chatting, waiting for their customers to arrive, greeted me and gave me a warm welcome, and invited me to take the table of my choice. Soon after I was seated, my server, a friendly young lady came by and took my order. I asked for orange juice and coffee to drink, as well as a glass of iced water. And to eat I asked for the dish that I so much enjoyed and was looking forward to having today: the Steak & Eggs. I ordered a five ounce filet cooked medium rare with two fried eggs cooked over easy, served with homefries as my choice of side, and for bread: white Texas toast. While I waited for my food to come out, I enjoyed drinking my orange juice and coffee, looked over the menu, and looked out the window where I saw in the distance, Ernie's, one of my favorite breakfast restaurants, for its consistency of quality food and service, and relaxing environment. When my server brings my food, the first thing I noticed was my flat filet cut. Usually this cut is for customers who like their steak well done. Last time, my filet was a thick cut one, cooked medium-rare to perfection. Then I saw the fried eggs. They weren't over easy, but over cooked as well. And the toast was over-toasted and laid there while the food was cooking, because it was luckwarm and hard by the time it got to me. When I cut my steak with the steak knife to see if it was pink inside, it was not. It was tough and dry. When my servers. I signaled one of servers asking for my server and tell her about my steak. She replied that now they were using a different meat provider, but that she would take it back and ask for another to be cooked. She only takes the steak back. Shen then brings me another back that not only had a weird shape, but was rare and with gristle. Judging by the quality of the second steak, the cook didn't intend to make amends, or maybe didn't know better. It's a pity because everything else about this restaurant is comforting, but when the food isn't, it takes away the desire to return. I hope the management and the owner of the restaurant read this review and take the necessary steps to correct the misdoing. Because restaurants' success is brought about through repeat customers and not by passersby.

After being ranked 4th among Yelp's Top 50 Most Prolific Elites of 2025, a distinction recognizing my consistent community engagement and high-quality contributions, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and establishments, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to go back and write follow-up reviews on those places that impressed me the most during 2025, and Bread Craft Bakery, located in Downtown Roanoke, is the perfect example of one of them. Bread Craft is a premier, artisan European-style bakery established in 2006 by owner Alex Eliades, who besides having a passion for baking, has over 25 years of baking experience, and leads the bakery focusing on traditional slow-fermentation techniques. The bakery is known for its high-quality, scratch-made sourdough, pastries, and Croissants. The bakery specializes in Franch and German-style baking, utilizing sourdough as a natural leavener. It servers breakfast and lunch items, including sandwiches, salads, and some creative breakfast egg entrées. They are open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8:00AM - 2:00PM and are well known for running out of items before the end of the day. For this review I visited the Bakery / Café for breakfast on two consecutive Wednesdays. The first Wednesday I arrived too late to be able to have their Chorizo & Eggs Cocotte from their Breakfast menu. Breakfast is only served until noon, and I found out about this on that day. So instead I had a Cheese Danish and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Both items were delicious. On the second Wednesday I arrived much earlier for breakfast. Luckily, right before a whole rush of customers arriving to place Take-out orders. As soon as I walked inside I immediately felt comfortable with its clean and contemporary architectural design and decor, and an exposed red brick wall that gave it a warm ambiance. One can see that the owner spent a substantial amount in renovating the place when they moved here, and that they took good care of it, because it looked as if it had just opened for the very first time yesterday. While I was looking over all the baked items they had, I received a friendly greeting and warm welcome from a lady behind the counter who seemed to be the manager and took my order. To start I ordered a Chorizo Quiche which happened to be the Quiche of the day, and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Then since I was planning to turn this into a Brunch, for my main entrée I ordered their Chorizo Cocotte from the Breakfast menu. And for dessert I had a Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant that was simply irresistible. Everything tasted amazingly delicious, especially since I love Chorizo. The Quiche had an amazing crust with the eggs inside cooked with the perfect amount of chorizo. The Chorizo Cocotte was served in an elongated bowl with two poached eggs over Spanish sausage, accompanied by three slices of freshly made Baguette. And if all this wasn't enough, the Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant was the perfect ending dessert to this fabulous put together Brunch. Oh and the coffee was the best of the best.
