I had a Dark n Stormy (one of my favorite drinks), and Hubs had something an Old Fashioned and then I think he asked the bartender to make him a Cameron's Kick which is basically a smokey whiskey drink. He liked both! I thought the DnS was nice and had a good level of spicy ginger flavor as opposed to some which are more sugary. The bartenders were lovely and the environment is laid-back. We sat at an open window facing Bond Brothers and watched some puppies and children running around. I can't wait to go back and try more yummy cocktails! read more

The bathroom decor was probably my favorite haha - but overall the beer list was wide enough and the pizza was 12" and two for a couple is more than enough. Love this new neighborhood bar with a cool, friendly vibe. Originally, I said they'd get five stars if they had the liqueurs and liquor to make a chocolate martini, but heir mixologists love a challenge to make fun drinks. Super cute classy bar with a pretty small indoor seating area. There's a few tables scattered, your traditional bar area and bar seating along the large window facing the outdoor patio area. The drink menu was extensive and diverse. They had plenty of options for different spirits and they were all pretty unique. They're also able to make you practically anything you'd like. I met up a friend for after work drinks. We each had one of each bruled greyhound and clover club (I think? It was a gin drink with amazing flavor and pinkish in color). Everything was perfect about both drinks! The service was also on point. Our water glasses never went empty even though we still had our cocktails in hand. The prices were reasonable and they pours were also nice. I'll definitely have to bring my husband here on a date night. I think they take reservations. We got there early so had plenty of seats to choose from but as we were leaving the place was getting pretty busy. read more

I've been several times and always end up getting the Sidebar Rickey -- the kaffir cordial is delicious and not too sweet, but all the drinks look great as well. The Deets: I have been seeing some buzz on Yelp about SideBar lately and glad it is joining the downtown Cary rebirth scene. I stopped by this past weekend with a bud to have a couple cocktails and was pretty impressed. You can see the kinship to sister bar C Grace in DTR (which one of the owners there behind the bar confirmed) in the listing of custom cocktails they offer and the very stylish old and new style blend of decor/atmosphere. I like how it has a sense of style with just enough of the old and new to make it unique and inviting, while preserving the casual feel. As I say from time to time, I dig it. This type of place is needed in the downtown Cary area and from the reaction, it's been pretty welcomed (all five star reviews so far? Zowie!). Bar staff was helpful and pleasant, and the menu of drinks is superb. The menu itself offers some old standby classics and some of their special creations. I went with their whiskey sour (made with egg white, my favorite kind) and a cosmo. Both were excellent, no complaints here at all, with the sour being my favorite by far. They also have beer (bottle, can, draft) and wine offerings, for a well rounded menu selection. Wow! Very cool cocktail lounge in Cary. We were going to drive into Raleigh and found this on Yelp. I'm glad that we have it a try. They've only been opened for two weeks, but they had a decent crowd for a rainy, Thursday night. I tried a Carolina's Gold...so tasty! It has Carolina gold rice milk, demerara, rum, cinnamon. My husband got wine, and he said the Pinot Noir was better than the Malbec. My brother got the Sazerac, which he was skeptical of at first, but he loved it so much that he ordered a second. Only bar food are two types of nuts - peanuts and marcona almonds. So don't come here hungry. My only suggestion would be to have at least one warm cocktail drink. It was a brisk, rainy night and I would have loved a hot toddy. read more

This is a great spot in downtown Cary! The area has grown a lot recently with the pizza place next door. Sidebar has a good amount of seating and a casual vibe while somehow still feeling a little fancy. I got the bruleed greyhound. It was tangy with a sugary aftertaste. I enjoyed it, though I definitely needed to accompany it with water. Our friends ordered food from the market next door and the market brought their food to them when it was ready! Last night, I found this great, bar that I couldn't believe I was in downtown Cary! Yes, Cary! Literally, I was going to meet the hubby at the pizza place next door from the SideBar and thought this was the bar area of the pizza place. But NOPE, it is a wonderful hidden gem! Needless to say, we stayed at SideBar for a long time, pizza for dinner was forgotten! The people, the bartender, the atmosphere were all so much fun! We stayed and order a delicious Charcuterie Board from next door at the Pro's Epicurean, which they delivered to us right at the bar! We had a much surprisingly fun night out on a Tuesday in Downtown Cary! I have to say, I love the SideBar. I can't wait to go back and try another one of the many and unique cocktails. Ducked in here from the rain during the Bond Brothers music fest and glad we did. Cocktails were strong, unique and authentic - owner treated us like we were regulars. You know the way you figure people drank in bars back in the 1920s - with real ingredients and good spirits poured and mixed with care? That's Sidebar. Don't expect pre-made mixers and haphazardly made drinks. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas but when it gets crowded it is hard to find a seating inside since it is not spacious. They do not have covers or heaters for the outdoor area. Wow. I was blown away by this classy bar. First off, you are greeted as soon as you walk in the door and the decor just fits in this place. My boyfriend's favorite deal was the can of beer + whiskey shot for $6! I tried the greyhound drink, so delicious and smooth. The drinks are all made fresh in front of you and plenty of spots to sit at the bar, table seating, as well as outside! We chose to sit inside as you really get a feel for the awesome vibe. Dropped by here last week while in town for work. I loved how friendly and knowledgeable the bartenders were. I only had one house cocktail ("last call and quick decisions") and it was a delicious and well balanced cocktail. Apart from that, I ordered two cocktails that were off menu; an Aviation and a Last Word, both of which were absolutely fantastic. I was very happy and impressed that I didn't have to give a recipe for either, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Cant wait to pop in again to try more of their house drinks. There was a group of six of us that wanted to try this place out a couple of weeks ago. The menu looked really neat online and we found out it is update seasonally which is cool! That said, while there were a lot of great options on the menu, I personally would have liked to see more rum options (which is ultimately what kept this from a 5 star). There were plenty of other vodka, bourbon, etc. options (maybe they have more rum options in another season). Our server was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about types of liquors and mixing flavors and gave us a lot od great options to choose from as we were pretty indecisive at first about what to order. The ambiance was cute although it could have used a little more seating arrangements for the 4-6 sized groups. That said, it was raining so I believe there are outdoor seating options too when it is not. Location wise it was great because those in our group that really wanted something from a brewery instead just popped over to the one right nextdoor. I do remember seeing beer on the menu at sidecar though - so there really is something for everyone. I am sure we will look to go back at some point as it is the best handcrafted cocktails we have had in Cary. read more
