The server was very attentive and gave us great suggestions. If you are looking for a quick stop, keep going but if you are looking for a break from driving this is a good place to stop. Our table chose: 2 cheesesteak sandwiches, 1 with fries and the other with onion rings. A knucklehead burger and a rice bowl with veggies and chicken finished the tables choices. All of our dishes were very tasty and well proportioned. The interior of the place is old diner style. This place is worth a stop if you need a break from driving. Dinner for two here the other night. Interior is delightful with lots of history, everything was nice and clean. Service was friendly and attentive. Menu has a little bit of everything, heavy on burgers, sandwiches and pizza. We had a beer before dinner which was welcome after a long day on the road. Decided to split a Supreme pizza which was plenty for 2 plus some cold pizza for breakfast the day after. It's an American tasting pizza with a thin crust and plenty of tasty toppings. Great choice. For desert we split a slice of cherry pie ala mode - tasted like canned pie filling, but still hit the spot. Thank you to my fellow Yelpers for directing me here. Everyone was right the service and food are top notch. They had a few big groups and several other customers but our order came out quickly and hot and fresh. We opted for a pizza and an appetizer and we ended up taking more than 1/2 home since it was pretty big! It warmed up well and was delicious reheated or cold as leftovers. The ladies were all friendly and it's definitely the best place in town so if you're passing through they have a good menu with lots of choices so stop in. read more

I don't find myself in Caliente, Nevada, as often as I used to, but when I am it is all about a meal at the Side Track. This Harley Davidson themed restaurant lies in a strip mall just on the other side of Highway 93 across the tracks. The staff are welcoming and even though a sign at the door says "wait to be seated" usually you can pick your spot. The menu is full of options, but not so many as to be overwhelming (I'm looking at you Cheesecake Factory!). We were a little late for breakfast, so we settled in for lunch. There are a variety of burgers and sandwiches and dinner style meals. We ordered the patty melt and the Knucklehead burger which comes with onion rings on it. While we waited for the sandwiches, we both used the bathrooms and happy to report they were both clean and well stocked. They are single hole so be brief in getting your business done, there could be someone waiting. The food was excellent, the meat on the sandwiches were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fries were the best I have had in a long time. I can say that the burger bun was brioche, and it was soft and buttery. The rye bread on the patty melt was good and toasted well. The Side Track was a perfect place to get off the highway for a bit and refuel us to keep headed north. I was sad we didn't make good enough time to catch breakfast, but now I know that the Side Track kicks ass on lunch and dinner too! read more

The attached menu pages are from the old menu. Sadly the Side Track Cafe no longer offers gluten free pizza or buns/bread for sandwiches and burgers. We were able to navigate the menu and piece together a gluten free meal. Tonight's service was a little spotty. The hostess forgot to give anyone menus and the server seemed confused several times. Overall it was a good meal in an area with very few options. Side Track co tinges to serve fresh salads and has a nice selection of beers. read more

This is honestly a great find in Caliente. The food and staff are excellent! The menu has been posted several times, so you can see they have a great variety of food to choose from. I came over for dinner one night and was glad to see they offered up some excellent pizza. The lady helping me even said it was the best! Came over on Sunday morning for breakfast and found that I made a great choice in doing so. Both meals I had here were well made and pleasing to the taste buds. I'm not a local but I frequent caliente. Sidetrack is easily my favorite restaurant across this area of Nevada. I've never ordered anything from here and felt disappointed or mediocre. Great thoughts on their burgers (especially the fries- they have the good kind)-- wings, breakfast items, and cheesesteak. The staff is always really nice and it's a very clean restaurant. If you're visiting town or passing by on a roadtrip and you're wanting good food, highly suggest this place. read more

We took a motorcycle ride to Caliente to see the depot on 9/20/25. Excellent service. My cheeseburger was very good. Freshly made and very tasty. The fries were done perfectly. My wife's turkey sandwich was very good as well, the turkey was real turkey, fresh and great flavor. Our granddaughter liked the fish and chips and fries. Will definitely visit again if we're out this way. I will say that lunch was a bit expensive but that's the way things are these days. read more

Small town, even smaller choice of places to eat. And folks, it is not like you can hold out for the next town. This is pretty much it for a hundred plus miles. So, we stopped. Turns out we were in for a decent surprise. Everything was so reasonably priced. The menu had some healthy choices you would normally not expect to find at a lonely, roadside cafe in the middle of the desert. The chef/owner had done his homework. Blame it on a rumbling stomach, I approached this with a loosy-goosy vacation mentality, ignoring what I "should" be eating. I got the basic breakfast of two eggs, bacon, and hash browns. For under $7, it was a deal. Everything was cooked nicely. The bacon was great. I also had my eye on the prize, buttermilk biscuits. And even though it turned out their biscuits were not homemade, the cook had buttered and griddled them to a nice toasty brown. I was surprised to find they were flaky, tender, and definitely better than most. My partner in crime chose the Mushroom Burger. $9.49 for a 1/3 pounder. They also have a half pounder. The waffle cut sweet potato fries were super good. While the burger wasn't any more adventurous than my basic breakfast was, it was decent. For the person seeking a slice of homemade pie, honestly this I cannot recommend. The cherry pie, usually a favorite of Mr. B's, was definitely poorly done, the crust needed work. Decent coffee, our cups refilled as often as we hoped, and warm vibes both from the employees and the locals, made this a pleasant stop. read more

I've got to first say that for me to give 5 stars requires that both the food was exceptionally tasty and that I experienced something way above my expectations. I stopped in town on a fuel stop and decided I needed a short break. Dining would take care of that nicely. This isn't a fancy looking place...more rustic. It was also a bit chilly inside (I even heard another group saying the same). There's plenty of parking. I tried their Chopper Burger. It was good, but nothing to rave about. The fries were about the same...good, but average. Service was good. So I just don't believe writers are properly reviewing this place. Yes, I recommend eating here. But you should expect much the same as you can get elsewhere. Meaning this is just an average restaurant and should only be rated as average. Maybe I ordered the only average item on the menu. Wonderful service, kind staff, and a very cheerful ending to a long day of driving across Utah and Nevada. We were staying at a hotel a couple blocks away, and arrived late on a Sunday, so it was a relief to have such a nice place to eat that was still open, nearby, clean, and serving tasty food. We even ended up going back the next day for breakfast, too. Our recommendations: the salmon dinner was delicious! Yummy, healthy, ample portions and sides, just a treat. Another family member had a burger, and enjoyed it. I'm told the tea selection was great, too. The next morning, my croissant breakfast sandwich was very tasty and bigger than I expected. The ham and eggs received compliments, the chocolate milk was a fun touch, and a yogurt parfait was a nice sweet treat. After looking over Side Tracks menu, they provide a variety of different foods from burgers to sandwiches to pizza. So my wife chose a ham sandwich and I got the patty melt. TIP- the patty melt was one of the best that I have tried!!!!!! It didn't need any condiments. The staff was really friendly, laid back and honestly really cool to hang out with and talk with. We are snow birds from Wisconsin staying for a few days at Kershaw Ryan State Park. We were going to barbecue chicken for dinner but it was still frozen so decided to go to the Side Track for a pizza. Wow, our streaming hot supreme pizza from Side Track was the best we had on this whole trip! Wonderful pizza spices and lots of toppings. Highly, highly recommend pizza at Side Track! Very accommodating staff for my group of eleven. The kitchen was able to pump the meals out, which was incredible due to the number of pizzas my guys ordered and the fact they can only cook two at a time.
