My friend and I were on our way to Cathedral Gorge State Park but we decided to drive a little further and stop in Pioche for lunch. We stopped at the Historic Silver Cafe and both got the Boom Town BBQ Bacon Burger. For my burger, I switched out the American cheese for the habanero ghost pepper cheese and boy did that have a kick. The burger itself was seasoned and cooked well and the fries that came along with it were good as well. From the looks of it, there were 2 people working in the restaurant. The very nice lady working the front of the restaurant was the cashier, server, and busser all in one and then you had the cook in the back working his magic. Keep in mind that the restaurant is small so seating is limited. When you visit, sit back and enjoy the ambiance of the mining town theme inside. read more

So so good. Staff was incredibly friendly and food was all chefs kiss We went into caliente intending to go for dinner before finding out they were closed for black Friday but this spot was open. We drove the extra bit as it was for my birthday. We started off with bacon cheese fries - which im honestly still dreaming of because everything was soooo fresh. 9.5/10 I tried everything my family ordered. Byb (bring your butt) burger - had an incredible kick of spice but the burger itself was exactly what id want out of a burger from a diner. Crisp and fried well. Flavored on a good grill and hot a fresh very obviously. 8/10 Grilled chicken bacon ranch sandwich - on sourdough with fries. Fries were a 10. Loved the homeade ranch. Would have liked it better with a tomato or something to brighten it up. 7/10 Prime rib w/mashed potatoes - i noticed it was missing horseradish which is actually prefereable for me but not for others. The prime rib medium was very well made. The au just well compliment it. The mashed potatoes were explained by my dad as tasting like they were fake. I didn't feel that way but they wrte definitely not at the same caliber. 8/10 Cheesesteak sando - fries 10/10. Meat was the same meat on the french dip and seemed yo be the same meet in a roast beef type sando. Great flavor, toppings, bread was soft and I really enjoyed it. I didn't really see the cheese on it which was the only detractors in my opinion. I also loved tbat they smoothly handled a walk in group of 20 well. No road trip is complete without a stop at a local diner/cafe. No road trip worth its salt anyhow. So on my recent whirlwind of a road trip I stopped off at the Historic Silver Cafe founded in 1907. This is a small cafe big on charm. There are kitchy signs are all over the place. Even in the restrooms (i.e. "You can't run with the big dogs if you pee like a puppy). You can keep yourself entertained while you wait for your food. For lunch, my mom and I ordered chicken fingers (mom) and a hamburger (me). We had options of homemade potato chips or fries for our sides. We decided to get both. We let the lady taking our order decide who got what. She gave my mom the fries. That means I got the chips. Both were good even though the fries were thinner than I typically like. I also don't usually go for chips like that. Maybe I was just really hungry. Or they were really truly good. Probably a bit of both. My mom enjoyed her chicken fingers. They looked good. She said there was a bit of spice. Maybe some cayenne or black pepper in the seasoning. Obviously I can't speak much more to the chicken since I didn't try it. But I can tell you for certain that the burger was damn fine. 1/3 pound of beef, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. A classic style hamburger done very well. Good food. Friendly service. A pretty clean restaurant. There was a funky smell inside. Almost like a gas leak. That was a little disconcerting. But we left safe, sound and satisfied. If I lived closer than 3 hours from this place, I'd likely come back. read more

We decided on burgers and fries and they all were very good. Eating in a building that was built in the late 1800's in this old mining town was very neat. That was disappointing. I was expecting a good country style breakfast, unfortunately not the case. They should delete the biscuits and gravy from the menu. I've never had gravy made from greasy hamburger meat. My Mom and I both ordered it, and after the 1st bite we looked at each other in disbelief at what we just tasted. Forks down, check please! I've eaten here a number of times, I think they may have had ownership changes recently but the food is always great. I was in the area a for few days and I got to try the cheesesteak, the Ghost Town burger, and the chicken wings. Everything was great, and the staff is always friendly.. if you're in the area, you should definitely stop and have a bite.. I stopped late in the evening with my son and hoped to stay in Pioche but the hotel said no vacancy. Our waitress was super nice and in addition to the great service and food, she told me to go inquire about a room anyway. Turns out they did have a room available and we got to stay the night. Delicious!!! I traveled here with my family for the Pioche Labor Day parade and we decided to stop here for some lunch before heading back home to Vegas. We ordered the BBQ bacon burger, Philly steak sandwich, bacon cheese fries, and chicken tenders. When I tell y'all these tenders were the juiciest and freshest tenders we've ever had!!! You can tell they use premium chicken breast from somebody's ranch and the frying oil is CLEAN! They are lightly breaded and fried to perfection so you still get the crispy texture without the excess coating and the actual chicken is the star of the show! The chicken tastes like it's brined which makes it oh so flavorful and moist! The burger was delicious and the fries were so well seasoned! I asked for a side of ranch for the fries and my husband asked for extra hot sauce for his tenses and both condiments were super tasty. The ranch tastes homemade and the hot sauce tasted like Frank's Red Hot with a little razzle dazzle added to it, perhaps some melted butter and/or additional seasoning. We will definitely come here again the next time we are in the area! The service was great and the ambiance was a nice homey diner vibe. Pioche is a quaint little town with about 1000 people and as soon as you drive in you feel like you stepped back into the early 1900s. Silver Cafe was started in something like 1907 and has a nice small town feel when you want in. It is a great spot to stop if your trying to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The place holds about a dozen tables and has pizza, chicken, burgers, etc. the food was excellent and fresh. My wife actually said the chicken tenders were some of the best she has had. The patty melt was also really good. I love these small towns and wouldn't hardly change a thing about this cafe. read more

This historic cafe has old time character we find comfortably nostalgic with welcoming service and good down home grub. Cute little spot I'm downtown Pioche. Restaurant doesn't have a huge menu, but there should be something for everyone, kind of like a denny's lunch menu. We took a ride one day and headed toward Ely, we ended up driving through Pioche, this is a little cafe that we stopped into for a coffee break from driving from Vegas. Not many options around so we decided to check it out. It is a old building that the cafe is in and apparently it opened in 1907. The people were very friendly and told us some about the town. It seemed quiet and not too many people around. Nice cafe and a neat little town. It was clean for being a old place. We would for sure come back and try something to eat we just did not want to stay too long because it was getting later and we did not know where we were going to end up. We had more sights to see! This place does have a little gift shop attached. They had some old things as well as new. We did end up finding a few things to buy. The prices were not bad at all. Check them out if your ever driving through, located right in the little town. So based on the friendliness and good coffee its a 4 star for sure! read more

We've eaten here about 4 times this year. I was so looking forward to having a club sandwich there today. I've had one there which was awesome. Today what I got was so different than the first one. The bread was so thick it made the sandwich 6 inches deep. The meat was hanging over the sides, it was not the same sandwich. The last one had avocado, this one none. On the first the bread was thinner and more manageable and it was a tight, thinly spread club, soooo good. This club was cut in half instead of quartered and just slapped together. I was offered another sandwich but obviously the chef would just do it the same way. It was ok, the bread was not good. I ate it, but was so disappointed. I was really remembering that last one. So don't expect any consistency of food prep here. What you get when you come might be different! read more

I just stopped in here while on a road trip in Lincoln County. I'm so glad I did. I was greeted from the moment I walked in-like I was a regular. I like to try out cafes when I'm traveling. Some are great. Some aren't. I'm happy to report that this one was great!! I ordered a cheeseburger with fries. A little over 10 minutes, I had a delicious burger in front of me. Nothing greasy. The fries reminded me of In-N-Out! It was a nice atmosphere. I learned some things about Pioche sitting there, and this was a much better lunch than a sandwich I had packed. Awesome!!! Came in on a Thursday afternoon and I ordered a BLT with their homemade chips and my daughter ordered the next sandwich down ( turkey avocado and bacon). We couldn't finish it all. I would really rate this place a 2.5 if I could. We were very excited to try the historic Silver Cafe. I had heard about it so figured it would be real good. It was OK but not great. The server was very friendly. I saw this menu online that promoted all kinds of homemade food including desserts. It looked nothing inside like what I saw online. They had only one type of cake in a clear fridge display but it didn't look appetizing. My man had a "Cheese-steak Sandwich" and said the bread didn't seem cooked all the way but that the meat had good flavor. I had a salad and it seemed like it came from a pre-mixed bag you buy from the grocery store. I always expect fresh veggies when in a small town like this but then again you just never know what to expect. I have to say the Ranch Dressing was very very good. I can't just order ranch though the salad has to be good too! I wont be itching to come back soon but the town was really neat so at some point I might want to give it another shot but the town of Caliente isn't to far and there are a lot of good food options there. I pass through this area a few times a year so I would like to give their pie a try should they actually have some next time! They have a neat little gift shop and some homemade jellies near the register that look yummy but we opted not to try them and get a few souvenirs that said "Pioche" on them instead. It is historic and the town is real neat so if you haven't tried it yet then go ahead and see what you might think of it since it is always neat to at least say you've eaten somewhere historic even if the food isn't so historic! read more

Not much dining available around Panaca, but this place is only a few miles off the main state highway in Pioche, Nv. It's one of those "lost in time" diners that I really like. Very clean but wonderfully dated decor, simple foods prepared and served by kind local people. Warning that they are closed on Tuesdays to process & prepare their locally sourced meats. I only dropped one star because fries are not included with burgers and the menu isn't very clear on that fact, however a side of fries will feed three people for like $3 bucks extra... really good home cut fries! read more

We were surprised to find this gem after visiting Cathedral Cliffs. We walked in to a clean, not fancy spot where the owner and two women were welcoming and friendly. There were six of us--4 adults and 2 kids. Each had something different and all of it was yummy and hot! I had a burger and loved it! Shoestring fries were a surprise, but in a good way. Hot and crispy. My husband has the pastrami sandwich. He said it was one of the best he's had. The only suggestion I have for the owner is to bring out kids meals before the adults! This place is a piece of history! The owner Doug is super friendly and welcoming. My friend ordered the chicken tenders which was freshly battered, fresh chicken. The fries are fresh cut to order. I had the triple decker club sandwich(ordered without the center piece of bread). The sourdough was fresh and tasty. The deli meats were high quality and the veggies were fresh. They also have refreshing fresh brewed iced tea! Definitely a must try if you're passing through or coming to check out the town for a tour of Nevada history! Highly recommended little cafe. read more
