Tracy was great! The food did take a little while to come out but the restaurant was slammed and I think I only saw one lady in the back grinding away. Food was really good, the club was amazing and we got the pork chop as well which did not disappoint. Nice little spot. read more

I love old western looking restaurants but I didn't enjoy this one at all. The service was just ok but the food was not good. The booth was uncomfortable and there were flies everywhere. Have refused to go back again. read more

Do NOT order a steak here. We stopped by on Friday on our way to a weekend trip and had a good experience. We were happy with our burger and the service was friendly so we decided to stop by again on our way back into town. The meal was disappointing. The service was still excellent, however the food was not good. Our second experience started with us overhearing the cook be extremely rude toward the server and I wish we would have taken that as a sign to get out of there. We ordered and had to wait almost an entire hour for our food. We considered leaving after waiting about 40 minutes for the food and again, wish we would have. We ordered the local favorite, the sirloin steak and eggs. They were out of the sirloin so we had to upgrade to the ribeye for an extra $6, just for the steak to come out way overdone. We were starving by the time the food came and even still barely ate our food. The eggs were slimy and overcooked and then the steak that we ordered medium rare came out well done. read more

Stopped here on a ride to Mt Rushmore and had the most fabulous chicken fried steak. It was tender and the gravy flavor was really good. Highly recommend it if driving through Caliente. read more

This restaurant is on the way to the Cathedral Gorge State Park from Las Vegas. It's a good stop to make to use the restroom and to get some lunch. We ordered the Veggie burger, fish and chips, and The Works omelette. The food was very good and filling. Service was ok. They forgot one of our orders, and they should have just asked us if we still wanted it or not and be truthful about how long it would take. It really dampened our mood that they weren't being honest about how long we needed to wait. But, overall still a good place to eat. read more

I wanted a small chicken salad, so I told Athena that. She said "I know just what to do." She made a house salad with chicken...sounds simple but it was perfect! My Beau had egg rolls and fresh cherry pie à la mode. We were both happy, full and pleasantly surprised by the food, the service and the price. Thanks, Athena and team! read more

We were driving home from a 5 day backcountry trip in Yosemite and stopped in before 7am hungry and looking for some breakfast. It was a holiday Monday, and the place didn't seem to be open. However, Erin saw us and said there's no way she can let travelers leave hungry and welcomed us on in. She took our orders and proceeded to cook a delicious, hot breakfast for us even though she was not the regular cook. We appreciated the friendly, welcoming hospitality and great conversation as well! read more

We were in the area Sunday morning and decided to check out Knotty Pine for breakfast. What a cute place with such friendly staff. It was Fathers Day so they were a bit busy, but they took care of everyone. The food was good. Biscuits and gravy were creamy and peppery ( I love that I didn't have to add pepper!) and the pancakes were so good! My partner said the chicken fried steak was good as well. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in town! read more

If you're driving through Caliente and come across this restaurant -- just keep going. It's not worth stopping, no matter how hungry you are! We stopped in and ordered two takeout entrées, and it took 45 minutes to get our food. The place wasn't busy; there was only one person sitting at the counter. In hindsight, we should have asked about the wait time, but we did try calling ahead -- no one answered the phone. Honestly, even if this were a Michelin-rated restaurant, I'd still say nothing tastes good after waiting that long. A complete waste of time! read more

Absolutely great experience!!! I was born and raised in a small town in Mississippi, so I am no stranger to small town diners. So I know a good one when I see one. As my friends & I entered this restaurant, we were immediately greeted and told we could sit wherever we like. After sitting, our server very promptly arrived and gave us menus, took drink orders, etc.. The restaurant had about 4-5 tables full of guests and a few people sitting at the food bar, and our server appeared to be the only server but with another lady helping behind the counter. Although she was very busy with lots to run around and do, she was very attentive, helpful, and friendly with us during our entire visit. The overall hospitality was phenomenal!! The food came out fairly quick and everything tasted great. My friend and I particularly loved the house made ranch! If you like ranch, you'll love this stuff. It's yummy! Overall, Knotty Pines, without a doubt, met every expectation with food quality, great service, and a clean environment. read more

The evening chef is PHENOMENAL. Hubs had pork chops (made with a hint of rosemary on the flat top, tender and so juicy), with bacon green beans (just like gramma used to make), mashed potatoes with country gravy (nice and peppery). I had the hot open-face shaved turkey breast, which had a lovely slight char from the grill, on buttered toast & mashed potatoes & smothered in a savory brown gravy. Honestly, the best dinner we've had at a diner in over 15 years. Comfort food to crave! Seriously, I'm thinking of any reason to drive the 2 hours from Vegas again, just to try something new on the menu when this guy is cooking! read more

We come here often when we're in the area. Service is always prompt, food is always excellent, the servers and bartenders are always friendly and hospitable. Fun western atmosphere. There's a family friendly diner on one side of the building and a bar with slots & pool tables on the other. Kids are welcome in the booth area of the bar. Gorgeous views of the mountains and historic train station from the restaurant windows. We love watching the trains go by. So many memories and always a great time, would absolutely recommend. read more

Chose the chicken fried steak it was great. Service was awesome. The best part was the to go desert for later in the room.

Service was bad, food took a hour to get out and there was dishes left on the table for 10 minute. Never coming back, Sidetrack on top

Service bad food took an hour to get out and it wasn't busy, dishes piling up. Never again. They need to have more than one worker working.

Took a day trip from Las Vegas to Caliente. We arrived at the Knotty Pine Restaurant at 1:15 pm. The restaurant was not too busy and we helped ourselves to a booth. Shortly the waitress arrived with the menu and water. My wife chose the "Chicken Fried Steak" and I had the "Trail Boss Burger" with Onion rings. My wife said it was one of the best chicken fried steaks she had ever eaten. The mashed potatoes were authentic and the gravy was smooth and very tasty, it came with a side of fresh green beans and a salad. My burger was cooked to perfection I'd asked for hot pepper cheese and it arrived with its full 1/2 lbs. goodness with all the fixings you could want. The dill pickles were delicious the tomatoes and lettuce very fresh. I could not finish this masterpiece. Now for the onion rings, nothing frozen here, fresh cut onions dipped in their batter and deep fried. They were so good it broke my mouth. Maybe that's why I couldn't finish the cheeseburger. But the best part came at the register. This meal was less than $40.00! If you're ever in the area be sure to try them out you won't regret it. read more

The sign says it all -- hand crafted, old school delicatessen in the outersphere of what Jimmy & Julie call "home" -- golly, sounds like an ideallyic new movie, eh? Nope! Just a Naughty+Knotty slice of diner paradise. Ever see the italian flick "cinema paradiso?" I didn't think so! Enjoy, as we did (Dudo, Huey, Jamis, Slav, Cindy, other Cindy, & myself!) Portions were great and food was good. Ambiance is not why you should eat there. Service was okay.

Always a great experience, staff is friendly and personal able. Food is awesome. And abiance is great.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place because it's directly attached to the casino so I wasn't sure what to expect for the atmosphere. I ended up ordering their steak dinner and thought the steak was cooked and seasoned very well. The prices here are also great and the service was fast and friendly! read more

Wow great food! And great service from the good old boys - both were women, very friendly locals. I thought it was just a diner, but apparently it's attached to a casino. All I had was the food. Those two women were the hardest working people in town but got all our orders right. I'm in Caliente once a year and will definitely come back. read more

Service, price and food were great. Not much to look at, but service more than made up for it.

Random Road trip adventure time! What a fun place! The coffee wasn't the best, but the iced tea was great. I had a patty melt with fries, and the hubs got the Bronco Buster Breakfast, scrambled eggs with ham and onions. Both were quite good. The eggs were cooked perfectly, not too dry. Very friendly service. Don't anticipate being in Caliente very often, but would definitely hit up the Knotty Pine again! read more

The service was incredibly slow. I was afraid they were going to close before we got our food. The server asked if we wanted something to drink touting the fact that they had a full bar in the adjacent casino. I asked for a martini and a glass of water. 20 minutes later another girl came to tell me that she couldn't find any var mouth", pronounced like that place where you tongue lives. I just asked her to just bring me a shot of gin with 2 olives. I think maybe she had a difficult time finding the gin. Had to ask again for the water. After 45 minutes our food came. She delivered to me chicken fried steak, I had ask for the fried chicken dinner! She offered to replace it but I declined. The backed potato was not cooked enough to eat. I also witnessed the sever walking by shaking a ketchup bottle with her finger covering the end so none would spill out! read more

A good choice for breakfast all day! The Western omelette had ham, bacon, onion and cheese and was done very well. I enjoyed it with sourdough toast (minus the hash browns). My husband had the ham and eggs and loved the ham - very tasty! The homemade cakes and pies look worth a visit just for themselves. We may try to get back this way just for that. A delightful surprise in the middle of such a remote area! The food was really good, much of it homemade and they cut their own meat! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. If you travel through Caliente NV don't miss this place for a cup of coffee and homemade pie! read more

The food quality and quantity for the price were very poor. It was a long wait for service as there were not enough employees, one waitress, to cover the guests visiting the restaurant. The cook in the kitchen was wearing her COVID mask below her chin. Some people just don't get it. There are not many options in this small town but look somewhere else than this place. read more

We usually eat at a place across the street when passing through Caliente but a local mentioned we should give Knotty Pine a try. We were pleased. We started with a order of onion rings. Could have done with out the bed of lettuce under them but let me tell you those were some tasty rings! I ordered a salad that was big enough to eat on for 2 or 3 days. The veggies tasted very fresh. My man had a pastrami burger with ortegas on it. He loved it. We both had a couple sodas and the total for everything was $20.32. Not bad for eating out and the food being tasty! The cook even came out to ask how our food was and was very polite. The server was friendly and checked on us regularly. The decor is wood with novelty signs on the wall and t-shirts for sale. Had a tasty lunch here today while passing through southern Nevada. Standard diner-type food, plus breakfast all day! But here's the real reason I'm a fan: in the middle of the Nevada desert, they have "vegeburgers!" And they're not the crappy, flavorless veggie burgers where you put ketchup on and all you can taste is the ketchup and all you can ever remember tasting in your life is just ketchup. It was a real, (I'm guessing) Morningstar patty, on a grilled bun, with (very little, all right) lettuce, tomato, and red onion. And if you don't opt for the $1 fry upgrade, you get a bag of potato chips-- which is handy if you're on the road and not that hungry yet, but planning to venture onto the extraterrestrial highway. My mom's cheeseburger was ok, standard once-frozen patty with cheese melted on it, and it came with thousand island dressing to put on it. The fries were really good, though-- if you don't mind dipping in sweet generic, non-Heinz ketchup! The decor is great, with a big Union Pacific painting in the dining room, the narrative on the back of the menu is charmingly disjointed, the local conversation is great to subtly eavesdrop, and there is a "Rough Rider" condom dispenser in the ladies' room. No sanitary products. For your food and contraceptive needs, though, this is the best place around! read more
