Food is very good which is the only reason we come back. The waitress/owner is horrible and she has a really bad temper! Do not come within the last hour of their business hours. We came in at 7:30pm and she was pissed!!! This lady cannot hide her emotions. We knew exactly what we were ordering and that was no consolation for her. She got nasty with everyone that was still in the restaurant and would not acknowledge anyone who said "thank you". This city doesn't have many options to eat out, but am super glad they have this joint here. The seating arrangement is at a safe distance but we ordered to-go so cannot comment on the dine-in experience. We ordered a variety of items. Starting from Golden Shrimp, Veg Fried Rice with Tofu, Pho Beef, Pad Woon Sen. Overall, the food is very good especially Pad Woon Sen and PASDDA. I was really skeptical about ordering Pho at a Thai restaurant but ordered anyways taking a risk and surprisingly it was good. I mean I've had a lot better Pho at a lot of different locations but in a Thai restaurant I was really impressed. Also, the management seemed friendly and the kitchen (you can see it from the cash register) is clean. Overall, satisfied with the food, location and service. It used to be the Bangkok Thai restaurant in Effingham,Il and they moved to Charleston IL ,now known as Siam Thai Cuisine. My husband LOVES the Thai Ice Coffee and I love The young coconut water :-) I would recommend crab ragoon, egg rolls as a good appetizer to begin with. My favorite is the Thai Beef Salad which is exotic and aromatic and The meat is tender (yummy). If you do not like meat salads , you HAVE TO try the Papaya Salad! Freshness in one plate. If you like soup, we recommend Tom yum koong which is a shrimp lemon grass flavored soup and it reminds us of our vacation in Bangkok. Good soup especially to keep you warm. For the main course, Basil chicken with cashews n veggies that are cooked to perfection n Hawaiin chicken which is served with stir fried sweet and sour sauce and pineapple with veggies are our favorite. Ate here for the first time and it was good. I ordered spring rolls (amazing) and pineapple fried rice with chicken. I wasn't sure how they prepared the chicken but for whatever reason it looked like fish in the rice. However, since I'm an American, I ate it anyway. It was pretty good whatever it was. If I had to eat here again I'd order that without chicken. The serving on the plate is God's plenty. You definitely will have leftovers no matter what you order. read more

I was excited to try Siam Thai under new ownership, in December. It is wonderful. I took my friend, who had been living in Bangkok for 2 years, to try it for lunch yesterday. He was impressed. The curry dishes are excellent, the pad thai is authentic, and you must try the homemade chili garlic sauce that is on each table. The atmosphere is calm and clean. Please try this place! My husband and I stopped by during a visit with our student at EIU. My husband had been told that this was the best Thai food anywhere. I love spicy food, but am not literate in what to order. I ordered the Pad Ka-Pow with level 4 spiciness. My husband ordered Pad Kee Mao. We also ordered crab rangoon and eggrolls. The level 4 was just enough heat to make my nose run and still have taste buds. The food was incredible and the service exceptional. The restaurant is clean and seems to do a good business. this is hands down my favorite place to get thai food that I've ever been to. Im from Chicago and was a little skeptical of going out to eat in Charleston at first but I have been so happily surprised - The lady who owns this place is wonderful every time we see her, and she knows me and my girlfriends orders and always makes things extra spicy for her. The crab rangoon is perfection, not overly fried and a great dough to filling ratio (unlike the usual extra fried dough around the edges there's just the right amount.) The spring rolls are always fresh, and I appreciate that when they don't have an ingredient they just tell you, and offer a ton of substitutes and knock the price down a bit. The portions are incredibly generous for the price and their curry just can't be beat. definitely stop in! read more

The first clue that this was going to b an awful experience should have been that there wasn't another soul in the place. The lady there is extremely sweet and polite...but the food was horrid!! I had chicken fried rice and my friend had shrimp fried rice. What we actually got was boiled chicken and shrimp smothered in oil with a him of garlic and a very pungent taste of their flat top grill...! Very good food. I went a few weeks after they opened so maybe they cleared up any issues after opening. I have tried two kurrys, pad thai, egg rolls, extra chrispy wings, and the chicken that's on the stick. It was awesome all of it was delicious. I have tried so much because I keep going back.
