This pains me to leave a review, because I'm sure the business is struggling post COVID... but if you run a corrupt business then prepare yourself for reviews. We came from out of town for lunch and saw decent reviews -- but BEWARE because good reviews are before COVID. We sat and the older lady immediately brought 4 waters to the table and walked away. We looked at the menus and she returned to take our order and warned us the prices are NOT accurate. I asked her by how much, and she said it's up by $3 because inflation (the entrees were already priced at $10.95 for chicken and $12.95 for shrimp)-- so add $3 to that. You'd assume the produce was fresh and decent portion sizes. What was ordered: 2 red curries (shrimp), and 1 shrimp fried rice. She walks to the kitchen and all we hear are the sounds of a microwave door being opened, buttons pressed, and ringing once food was ready. 5-10 mins later, all our meals were out. This was by far the nastiest Thai food ever. Portions sizes were 1 scoop of white rice and a small bowl for the curry. 4 pieces of shrimp with tail on it. Curry tasted like sugar water. Fried rice was cold in the middle and sweet in flavor. High salt content for sure. She comes around and asks if we needed more rice -- here I assumed she realized she gave VERY LITTLE amount of rice and came to her senses. The bill comes around totaled to $60+. She charged $4 for the extra white rice, $4 for the waters, and $31+ for the curries, $15+ for the fried rice. BEWARE AND TURN AWAY. I had her drop $4 from the bill because of how she never asked if we wanted waters, and never explained the rice was being charged as extra. She was extremely rude and pushy during this whole experience and was just honestly annoying to deal with. Do not come here. Oh and there was hair in the food. read more

We stopped in during a road trip thru this area for late lunch on a Saturday. No other customers there; later one man came in to get Pad Thai to go. Since this Yelp listing is still unclaimed by this business, I doubt the elderly owner -- who is the hostess, server, and chef -- will change anything. Owner was so excited when I started asking her questions in Thai (why not, I was born there and can speak the language). Didn't help to encourage her to make her best food though. We ordered Chicken satay which is an appetizer, but it was cooked last and came out after my kids had mostly finished their noodles, and the rest of us our entrees. It did not taste fully cooked, and the peanut sauce was "off" -- not sure but we had a bad after taste after eating it, so do NOT order it. One kid ordered Laard Na with chicken. Her gravy was more brown/ soy sauce than should have been for this dish; maybe she didn't clean her wok/ pan after making my other kid's Pad See Ew with chicken. The latter was ok, edible, but we've had better. I ordered Mee Krob Laard Na with chicken, which again had more brown/ soy sauce gravy that it should have. It's nice that this lady offers a huge menu, but honestly she should stick with the dishes she's good at (Laard Na is not one). Hubby got duck curry, which was edible, but super tiny portion (tiny bowl) for a large price. He ordered an Eggplant stir fry and a tilapia curry for his parents. This curry was also in a tiny bowl but high price. We had a discussion in Thai about the fish being frozen so she has to pan fry it first (we were asking if she makes any fish not fried). Eggplant stir fry size was reasonable, but I think we were charged for 4 bowls of rice. We may also have been charged for water. Receipt wasn't detailed so we couldn't tell, but after reading others' reviews (after we ate a disappointing meal of course) that may be her usual process. As mentioned before another customer ordered 2 Pad Thai, so maybe she's good at cooking that, and should stick to it. read more

Inedible. It's not hard to cook Thai from fresh while having some ingredients prepared and ready to go. However, this place apparently has ingredients laying around that they throw into a microwave. Turns the meat to rubber. Everything else is undecooked. The panang curry tasted like they mixed curry paste with water instead of coconut milk. My son said the pad see ewe was horrible. Again, microwaved. I don't stiff anybody, so I ended up paying $36 for a meal that was left uneaten. I hate trashing small businesses, but I need to make an exception here. read more

We were driving from St. Louis to Indianapolis ; ordered to take out the combo fried rice that comes with chicken, beef and shrimp. First disappointment was the look; dark carrot strings followed by the portion size; rather small dinner size portion; barely adequate. I have a tendency to get stuck on one entree for an extended period. It was Tom Yum Koong for years. And, I would judge the Thia restaurant on that one dish. Crab Rangun is another comparative dish. I have recently fallen in love with chicken noodle soup with the rice noodles and Thai seasoning. This establishment did not have such a dish on the menu. Got takeout here while driving cross country. The lady at the counter was nice enough. I thought it was a bit pricey as I took the bundle of food, but once we got to the hotel to unpack I was severely disappointed. I paid $34 for two meals- beef and broccoli and green curry. The curry was in a small pint, not even full. There were about 6 small pieces of meat in the beef and broccoli, so heavily processed I couldn't even tell if it was beef or might have been pork. The curry had a big oil slick on top and was totally flavorless. The lady had given me a "large rice to share" which was actually just one small box, a portion for one, even though both meals were supposed to come with rice. I would expect the price these days at most Asian take-out places, but the portions were ridiculously small for what we paid and the food quality was poor. Overall, terrible value. I have never had Thai food before. I like spicy food but I'm not fond of curry so I've always had doubts. However, I've heard great things about this place and we decided to fitry it! It was ready in about 15 minutes. We got the drunken noodles with shrimp, crab Rangoon, and pot stickers. Everything was AMAZING!! So many flavors!! The drunken noodles aren't spicy, more of a sweet taste. Seriously, try this place if you haven't! Friends also recommend the pad Thai and Ma-Ma chicken. Will def go back to try those!! The owner Lili is from Bangkok and been here 10 years if I understood her correctly. Everything we ordered was delicious. If you live or pass by the town of Effingham be sure to give this place a try. It's the only Thai food restaurant in town. Owner came to the parking lot to ask us how our food was. My wife and I were driving home from a day trip when we decided to look up some food. We went with Thai over a Japanese restaurant and that would be my first mistake. It was a Sunday evening and it was empty. We were given water bottles which I assumed we would be charged for being it's a bottle so no big deal. Now the prices were a bit high but nothing to crazy. I ordered the large Tom Ka soup and my wife the Pad Thai with egg rolls. My soup came out first and about 5-10 min later my wife's. That when we knew the lady was hostess server and chef, which isn't ideal in my opinion. The soup was not Tom Ka and I've have plenty of it in my life, it was over sweet and way to fishy. Now my wife's pad Thai was very bland with little flavor. Around the third bite she said something tasted very off and she was afraid if she ate any more it would make her sick. The egg rolls were definitely frozen but my wife said the first one tasted good, the second one though something was off, not sure how that can happen, but needless to say we stopped eating right there and went to pay and leave. The bill was over priced from the menu price. I will never come here again! I have no idea how they have 4.5 stars review other than they used to be good. I do not recommend eating here! read more

I love this place and I especially love the owner. She's so sweet, warm, friendly, and welcoming. She's from Thailand, cooks all the dishes herself, and basically runs the restaurant on her own. I tried four things here- the curry, pad woonsen, pad kee mao, and the steamed egg noodles with BBQ pork. Everything was cooked different and everything tasted great. You can also tell she's proud of her cooking and checks on you to make sure she cooked it right and you enjoy it. Would come here again and again if I lived in this area. read more

If you're in this small town and have a craving for Thai this is definitely the place to go! It's a small mom and pop shop, and they deliver quality food with friendly service! I'm a Thai junky and I was very pleased with the meal. It was very quiet when we arrived which stirred up some doubt but that was quickly taken care of. I ordered a Thai tea which didn't seem like it was made very well (tea to milk proportion seemed off). However when I tasted it I got a very smokey tea taste that was not overly sweet, it was just right! We started off with the crab wontons which had a nice crunch and were very flavorful. Be sure to use the dipping sauce! As an entree I got the panang curry with chicken. The broth was similar to that of a soup which is a little unusual for a curry, however it was so tasty that I was drinking it out of the bowl! My buddy got the pad Thai, he initially said it was a little bland. Luckily the owner of the sauce suggested the house made "garlic chili" sauce to garnish on top, Ive never seen him eat a meal so quickly! Wasn't sure what to expect when we walked in as it was dead empty (on a Sunday). I would 10/10 recommend stopping in! I got the pad kee mow with tofu (mild/no spice) and my SO go the duck curry (spicy) and soy bean potstickers for an appetizer and it did not disappoint.
