I have had siam house over 6 times. If your like spicy, this spot is for you. The food has tons of flavor, and you can request it to me less spicy, but it's gonna be spicy if labeled so. The food is always hot and fresh. I will say it's the worst Tom Kha soup I have ever had. I love it so I know how it should taste. This is a little toooo much coconut milk. We were the only dine-in customers on a Friday night--bad sign! The food is ok--better than Thailand in Clark, well below Siam Inn in Cranford-- but overpriced. And charging $1.50 for white rice is a sleazy way to make entree prices seem lower. Service was poor, especially considering we were alone in the restaurant. A request for a dish to be less spicy was acknowledged but not transmitted to the chef. The one hostess/waitress disappeared for long period of time. Terrible Thai food. We ordered my go to Thai dish, pad kee mao, which is supposed to be wide rice noodles with basil and chili and some veggies. They used the thin pad Thai noodles instead of the wide ones. There was no basil flavor at all (only counted one basil leaf in the entire dish). It had a mildly sweet flavor which it's not supposed to have. It was orange in color which isn't right. In fact it kind of tasted like pad thai that they threw some chili sauce into. So disappointed!! I have eaten here a couple of times and it was decent. But this past Saturday was awful! I should have known when I walked in . The smell was not pleasant like old frying oil. My daughter ordered a tofu spicy noodle dish and I tried a piece. I had the salmon and the portion was very small in a huge see of green curry that was ok. She has been in the bathroom for two days with stomach pains, nausea and diarrhea. I had a bit of the stomach pain as well and a few trips to the bathroom as well, but not as bad as her. Is was either the noodles or the spring rolls appetizer or the salmon in my case.. But we were both fine until after we ate there. So Food poisoning with a $103 bill with tip included for two people for a dingy place is with the food quality that is not so great is outrageous! My recommendation is to avoid his place. I will surely never return.! read more

Ordered just chicken pad Thai for take out and it was horrible. Dry, barely any chicken and flavorless. For $16, I would never go back. Sad that I'll have to drive by a place so close to my house to get quality Thai food. read more

The food is good, but no better than any other generic Thai place. We USED to be semi-regulars. The reason they get one star is RUDE service. For personal reasons we were not able to leave a tip that day. The owner CHASED us into the parking lot insisting we leave a tip - which was for her. There was no server. When I called to complain, the same manager told me that it was my responsibility to leave at least 15% as a tip. She argued with me for 5 minutes before I informed her we'd never go there again. I have never met such a rude or greedy manager before. Last time I checked, tipping is optional. I tend not to tip places where the owner is the server as they get the profit from the restaurant. For actual servers, I tip very well. read more

Ordered from here in the past and remembered it being much better than it was this go round. The pineapple fried rice had NO pineapple in, just a bit of a sweet taste. It was mostly just rice with a little chicken and huge boiled shrimp thrown in. The Pad See Eww was greasy as were the spring rolls, with very little flavor. Pad Thai was mediocre at best, no taste in the tofu and strange vegetables thrown in. Very expensive for very mediocre food. read more

Have been looking for a good Thai place in the area... Tried this place for take out two times and we are not impressed. First off... our biggest complaint.... if we are ordering four main dishes, how come we do not get rice to go with??? Really? They wanted to charge us for rice to go with the mains? The dishes we have tried: - Thai spring rolls- really dinky... two inches and not much flavor - curry puffs- too sweet - Tom Yum soup- frozen ingredients and not enough lime, lemongrass flavor and broth was not clean tasting - Thai house chicken- very dry - Duck curry- my favorite out of all the dishes but made with canned pineapple - Massamun curry- too sweet and too watery and not enough peanut flavor - Prig Khing- way too sweet - Sea Ew- really oily and again, way too sweet... what is with their sugary content?! - Pad Thai- again, too sweet - Siam fried rice- would have been better if it wasn't so salty and if the onion chunks weren't so huge We will continue to seek out good Thai in the area... read more

This is by far the WORST Thai restaurant I have EVER eaten from and I love Thai food and have eaten from many many restaurants everywhere. My packed Thai red curry chicken had a small cockroach in it! I immediately threw up as I had already eaten a bit before I saw the cockroach. Till today I feel like throwing up when think of it. My son complained to the restaurant ofcourse. But someone from the Health Department should take a closer look. By the way, the requested "extra spicy" red curry, tasted watery and sweet - and awful. I needed a new Thai place to go to after we moved, and it was going to be tough to beat our old favorite, Thai Basil in Piscataway. However, after trying two other places in the area that weren't great, we found Siam House and I'm very happy with it. The vegetable spring rolls are lighter and flakier than at the old place, which means I like them better. The curry dishes seem to be exactly the same as at Thai Basil, which means they're outstanding. I haven't tried the Pad Thai yet but I'll try to remember to update this review when I do. Based on the two curry dishes we did eat, I feel confident that the Pad Thai will be excellent. I did pick-up, which was ready and waiting for me when I arrived 15 minutes after my phone call, so big bonus points for that. I would gladly dine-in here - nice atmosphere, small, intimate setting. Don't let the fact that you drive into a mini-strip-mall to get here turn you off. The food is great. The prices are a bit higher than I'm used to for Thai but still reasonable. read more

Love this place. The staff are always friendly and quick to take your order. Sadly, they don't deliver so it's either make a visit to eat in or pick up and take out. Can get a little pricey but I will always be willing to pay for great food. My favorite ...? Shrimp in green curry sauce. Outstanding. Was hoping this would become a go-to spot for takeout but was sorely disappointed. I had even adjusted my expectations since this area has very few Asian restaurants and the quality will likely not match Thai food in NY but it was still pretty terrible. Pros: food came out quickly. That's the only thing. Cons: curt service by the lady at the front desk and she could use some training on how to greet customers and be welcoming. Food is inauthentic and overpriced. Ordered the squid rings appetizer (basically Asian calamari) and pad kee Mao with chicken. There were maybe 9 squid rings in the takeout box and it cost $9! The pad kee Mao which is an entree cost $10. How does that pricing make sense? The squid tasted okay but not $9 worth for such a small portion and the pad kee Mao did not taste like what pad kee Mao is supposed to taste like - there was a tomato base and it was very saucy? It should be stir fried with basil and have a savory flavor (no tomato), and most times includes Chinese broccoli/bean sprouts. Instead it was full of onions and sliced red peppers. I'm torn because the food I've ordered here has been phenomenal, but the owner can be quite rude and the steep pricing is not cool. I don't understand why they charge extra for white rice... it should come with the $12 chicken dish I just ordered which is SUPPOSED TO BE EATEN WITH RICE. Ugh, conflicted. read more

When you want to eat thai food this is the best place in the area from the appetizers I would recomend the Thai dumpling is a mix of meat into a wonton whin a delicius sauce. For soup we try a Tom Ka but they offer a spicy soup as is Tom Yum that choice your chicken or shrimp. About noodles was funny because I think before there is a only kind of noodles you know like thinny for the popular dish of the Tailand as is the Pad Thai even when I like nuts was yumy but they have a big noodle and I try a Sea Eaw my friend ask for the Kee Mao 4 stars that means very very hot and his ask for more. They offer fish and duck in speciality, lunch specials for the week days. One more thing you must teast is drinks like the Thai ice tea exotic!! Good expirience comfort place and very food and service. read more

My first time with this place, and it was takeout. I am vegan and was impressed to find out that they have a whole vegetarian menu. Unfortunately the food was lackluster and that's being nice. The Tofu Tom yum soup I ordered had fish sauce in it. It's not vegetarian if it has fish sauce. The noodle dish was like eating ketchup and crucified tagliatelle. We ate here when Siam House first opened, and the experience was so miserable that we swore to never return. Judging from my fellow Yelp'ers, they appear to have gotten their act together. I don't go to Thai places and eat the most typical dish out there. Just because it's popular doesn't make it the best. Try their Kee Mao and keep in mind it's spicy. Give the Duck Salad a shot and you won't be disappointed. As for service, the food comes out quick, they don't come by every 5 minutes asking how it is. If you had a problem, you'd tell them. I go at least once a month and if you go at lunch you get a salad to compliment the meal. read more

I agree with Steve G, I would not go back for dinner. I would only consider lunch take out. The waiters were partially incoherent. The one waiters pants were falling off throughout the evening. They have heaters in the ceiling which were constantly on and blasted you with heat. A tank top and swim trunks would have been more appropriate It must have been at least 80 degrees. I kept thinking I was in a Will Ferrell movie. The glass of water they served us had a taste of soap or chlorine. The decor is from 1970. My wife's napkin had food in it and when we asked to bring home leftovers they took one plate and placed it on top of the other plate off food. I still can't find a good Thai restaurant within ten miles of Summit. I would gladly take the drive to Somerville and eat at Thai Kitchen. The extra gas is well worth it. read more

This is some of the best Thai food that I have ever had. It's a little restaurant in Olympia Plaza Opposite bow craft on rt 22 east. They are BYOB and there is a LIQUOR STORE just a few doors down. The owner is the head chef and his wife runs the front and at times, they are short staffed. After all, it's a small business. But the quality of the food is amazing!!! And VERY affordable. The decor comes across as vintage and the music they play can be quite soothing. I frequent this restaurant with my friends and girlfriend and the treat me like royalty. They are awesome people , and the food is AMAZING with great entrées starting from $9.95, and they do take out too. It's worth far more than the cost. And the liquor store has a byob rack for wine pairing. So forget the water! They're worth a shot. Try the Pad Sea Ew spicy, Kee Mao, Kanom Jeeb Dumplings, Basil Fried Rice, Siam Fried Rice. And they have some GREAT fried Ice Cream for Dessert. read more

Three words: poor customer service. The food's decent but take into account the poor rude service and it ruins it. Ordered take out at 1130 am on a Saturday and when I came to pick it up was charged dinner prices. When I questioned it, I was told that lunch specials don't apply to Saturday. I showed her the menu and where it specifically said "lunch specials Tues-Sat" and she said that I didn't specify when I called. Ridiculous. When I argued, she said that she can take it to the back and give me smaller portions. Any decent place would have corrected the price and accepted their mistake. 1 star because I can't give zero. read more

Went here again and came out a little disappointed. Sort of the complete opposite of my first visit. The pineapple fried rice was't as tasteful as before and the server(s) kept taking plates off our table which was kind of distracting. I also didn't like how the hostess/cashier/server was so judgmental when my bf and I only ordered water. I hate it when they try to guilt you in ordering more food/drinks. And this was the same waitress as last time. The curry puff: 3 little puffs for $8.95... so overpriced. They tasted okay. My boyfriend ordered a curry dish and they gave him a big bowl of overcooked beef with curry and a small small small pyramid of rice. So far Sea is still my favorite place for Thai cuisine. This is the closest Thai place to my office so my co-workers and I decided to go there for lunch. Upon arriving we entered a dingy looking room with stale air. I asked the server about one of the dishes and got a very annoyed answer. The server was a grump the whole time we were there. The food was sub par. I ordered the massaman curry and it had withered vegetables and potatoes that weren't fully cooked. The Thai iced tea was OK. I'd say skip this place. read more

A hidden gem quietly tucked away in a strip mall along Rt. 22 across from Bowcraft. This is my new go to. The tofu pad thai is delicious. I also ordered Chicken Kee Mao (for the first time). Both were equally delicious. The Kee Mao was delectably spicy. It was neither too little or too much heat. But the best part of Siam House is their Thai dumpling appetizer. I have never experienced a chicken, beef and crab dumpling so perfectly combined. The dipping sauce that goes alongside it is tasty too, but the dumplings are so good, I don't even need the sauce. Prices consistent for other restaurants in the area heading east up 22. Definitely try this place. It is totally worth it! read more
