I heard some good things about this place, how it's one of the more authentic japanese restos in montreal. I went with 2 other people and it was a bit hectic, i felt bad for the waitress as she was rushing between tables so service was a bit lacking. We had to wait for quite some time. We ordered a few items. The food looked good but was quite pricey. The sunomono wasnt really what we were expecting, it was some sort of noodley cold dish and not a salad. The sashimi was good and fresh and the sushi was well prepared. But it wasn't really extraordinary and it was relatively expensive. Because of the price to quality ratio and the lack of service, i dont think I'd come back anytime soon.

I think a lot of people caught on without Yelp raving about it. This place served a mixture of Japanese and Korean dishes by Koreans. The cashier can speak a little French and English, the service can be a bit slow at time especially during lunch time. They provide a piece of beeper, it flashes when it is your time to be served. I got the poke bowl and it is so good and so fresh! I saw how it was made and yes, they don't put all their ingredients on their counter. They cut it one at a time, so it will be fresh when you get it. Nonethless, this little hidden place is a hit in the neighborhood. They caught on before the Yelp community.

Unfortunately, I walked in to this restaurant accidentally, distracted and misreading my map…read more.. thinking I was in front of another sushi restaurant one block West of my actual location. Oops. I have now learned my lesson. Attention to detail. Must remember in future. This restaurant is located on the fourth floor of a high-rise mall/office complex, with two dozen tables and chairs spilling out into the mall itself. At least the ambiance in the mall area is consistent. The restaurant interior is a mix of styles, including almost-sunken tables, linen tablecloths, paper napkins, laminated menus and dust-covered plastic flowers. At least, there were no obnoxious blaring televisions, so common south of the border. The trilingual staff were prompt and pleasant enough, as they sat me at the sushi bar (photo), one of the very few high points of this experience. After a quick look, I avoided the laminated menus and ordered sushi directly from what appeared to be the take-out menu. As usual, I ordered a small soup, a couple of maki and a handful of nirgiri. The soup itself was palatable. A few complaints I often have were actually well met here: the sushi rice itself was well seasoned, there was wasabi beneath each piece of raw fish in the nigiri, the unagi was not overwhelmed with fat and the tamago was excellent. Unfortunately, only mastering the non-fresh-fish segments in a sushi restaurant is a problem. The remainder of the main was disappointing. Both the maki, and a few of the nigiri were poorly constructed, falling apart even before being touched (photo). The spicy salmon was an unappetizing bland paste spilling from the roll. The eel cucumber had an added flavor I haven't had, or expected, before: mayonnaise. It didn't help. The ikura was also lacking - the salmon roe were soggy, not the firm "pop" expected from biting into really fresh roe. And lastly, the lunch bill, including tax and tip, was about CAD$70, far, far above any actual value received. There are plenty of other expensive restaurants within three blocks in which anyone would be pleased to spend their time and money. I enjoy visiting le Mille carré doré, but I cannot see any reason for me to ever return to this restaurant. 2019 02 08. S 22.

We reserved one of Sho-dan's private, upstairs dining rooms. Even though we were isolated, service…read morewas ever-present, personable, and kept our water glasses topped off. This downtown Montreal restaurant is chic, lounge music piped through to complete their "chicness". They were busy that Friday, with most table and sushi bar seating filled. (Speaking of bars, I had a glass of white, and tried a tasty lycheetini.) The highlight of Sho-dan's arsenal is their assortment of specialty "concept" rolls which can be extreme in presentation, and atypical in taste, even to the most seasoned sushi ranger. My friends are Japanese restaurant enthusiasts and loved the quality of cuisine, from the tempura, to the slices of raw goodness, down to the perfectly matching sauces for each dish. Don't forget to get dessert sushi - the mango one is amazing. Dinner at Sho-dan blew my MIND. Be warned, prices are higher than average, but it's worth splurging for, just this once. (Credit cards accepted.)

Why can't we have sushi this good in Ottawa?…read more I almost NEVER go out for sushi in Ottawa because, like most of the Chinese food, it fucking sucks here. As someone who lived on the West Coast for 10 years, I cannot and WILL NOT give anyone 5 stars for their sushi unless it was just caught that day. Sho-Dan was VERY close to achieving the impossible - a 5 star sushi in landlocked Eastern Ontario. This place was fantastic service, high high quality fish, superb rolls, perfectly timed delivery to the bar where we sat.... Delicious cold sake and beer to accompany. I think the bill came out to $160 for the 2 of us (I didn't pay) but we left very full and content. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what we ordered (was a boozy night afterwards)....but 100% certain that I will recommend and be back.

Some of the rolls were different then other all you can eat places so we tried those. For the weekly menu they do not offer sashimi only nigiris. The price per person is approximately 28$ tax in. I definitely recommend this place. Service was really good and the food was coming out pretty fast. The sushi and the fried stuff were to our liking. We had to call to get reservations because they don't have a website but when we went it seemed like ppl were coming in without reservations The only bad thing about this place was the ice cream, I got the green tea ice cream but it has a powdery feeling/ taste. Which I don't recommend. This place is good for small groups. I would go back definitely

They asked if I wanted Bento or from the menu, and I wanted the menu items. I requested crab to be removed from the tayo ozisushi and they removed it with no hesitation. I also ordered the crunch salmon roll (don't remember the exact name) and the kind staff member ensured it didn't have crab in it. It was ready in less than 10 minutes, and a quick walk around the block made the wait just fly by. The total for both dishes came to $19, which is a bit on the pricier side I suppose but reasonable for dinner for sure. The sushi tasted quite good I have to say. Very fresh and flavourful. You can definitely tell when the salmon is high grade and this place does it right! I forgot to ask if they could torch the ozisushi, maybe next time. It still tasted good though! I was enticed by the high Yelp reviews, and happy to also provide one. I'll definitely visit again for takeout!
