From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is perfectly sophisticated yet welcoming, with a classy, nautical vibe that feels upscale without being stuffy. The historic building (with its cool backstory) adds a unique charm, and whether you're at the bar, in the Boat Room, or on the patio during happy hour, it just feels special. The drinks are top-notch. Their cocktail menu is creative and well-executed think perfectly balanced classics and inventive options that pair beautifully with seafood. The wine and beer selection is solid too, with plenty of crisp whites that complement the menu. But the real stars are the oysters and crab legs. The oysters are incredibly fresh (they boast daily shipments), briny, and perfectly shucked some of the best I've had anywhere. We ordered a mix from the raw bar and couldn't stop. The crab legs? Outstanding huge, sweet, and steamed to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning so the natural flavor shines through. Paired with their drawn butter, it was pure indulgence. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, the portions generous, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. If you're craving excellent seafood in a great setting, make a reservation at Tempest you won't be disappointed!

We tried the special beef tartare appetizer which admittedly was a little one-note and salty. I can't really blame them for that though because I'm the one who ordered beef at a seafood restaurant. The star of the show was the lobster roll which was doused in butter. I like a little more mayo but the caper aioli which came on the side with the fries was a good addition. The lobster was plenteous, succulent, sweet, and buttery. The pickapeppa remoulade was delicious to dip the fries in - the fries were perfectly done too. I would skip the scalloped potato side - it was bland. We will definitely be back for the lobster roll!

To drink I ordered a watermelon refresher-tasted like summer! We shared the Goulash, Walleye Sandwich, & Prime Rib Dip. Every single bite was delicious! The garlic fries were crispy & flavorful. I appreciated that their full menu is offered during brunch. Can't wait to come back!

Weary is an eclectic space that is full of a hodgepodge of artwork, mirrors, lighting, decor and a bunch of random items that just make sense together. The vibe here is uniquely local for this part of Madison and from the moment you enter through the large ornate wooden door, you are teleported into a special space where a good time is sure to be had! We have come here for Friday Fish Fry, weekday lunch and weekend brunch, and we have never left unhappy or hungry. The menu is made up of mostly classic dishes such as salads, soups, burgers and sandwiches, with a few mains like steak frites and pork chop. Brunch has your classic brunch dishes such as breakfast plates, biscuits and gravy, burrito and of course, French toast. The fish fry is excellent here, especially the pan fried version, which still provides the light, crisp and fresh fish but less the thick breading. For brunch, the breakfast burrito add sausage was spot on and super tasty! For cocktail, they have a stellar menu of house curated cocktails. For brunch, I went with the Bloody Mary and outside of brunch hours, I gravitate to the Killer Bees Knees gin based cocktail. I will grab a beer on occasion, but the cocktails are too good to pass up! Service is always stellar here whether we are sat in the dining room or bellied up to the bar. Overall, absolutely in love The Weary Traveler Freehouse!

We were a little nervous when we pulled into the parking lot and saw a broken window. But inside was clean, a little dated but nothing to worry about. There were several cars in the parking lot so we figured it was a popular place. There were several breakfast choices and the three of us chose something different. The food was fresh and delicious, no one had a bad meal. The young servers were polite and helpful. Overall a nice experience, as many locals would agree because they came to visit with each other at various tables. We would come back if in the area.

It is dated but the day we visited you can tell there are some townie regulars. The gentleman who was our waiter was very nice. He seated us upon arrival and was attentive being the only server for us and a big table top of 9. There was a couple other tables but not busy midday. Full menu to choose from. We put in our order. We asked to share a breakfast bowl. It was hash browns with veggies, bacon and a couple hard eggs on top. Came with choice of bread and he brought the plate so we could split it. It was filling and good. It seemed to lack some flavor but again it was fresh and plenty.
