Food has absolutely NO seasoning, had to send majority of the food back. Brussels sprouts were burned and the loaded baked potato was undercooked and cold. My lady's dish was even worse, she ordered the short ribs supposed to be slow cooked well maybe if they cooked it for another 4 hours it would be tender. Won't be coming back again. This American bar restaurant is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality makes it worth it especially during happy hour. They offer 25% off appetizers and select cocktails and beers, which is a great way to try a few things without breaking the bank. Our server was very attentive and quick which we appreciated. Shula's!!! We went here a few times while in town for a wedding. The gang definitely appreciated having a bar on-site at the hotel after the welcome event ended early. Sadly, it was short lived as it closes at 11, so we had to finish our conversations on the couches in the business center in the lobby. We got some appetizers, the crispy chicken bites were pretty good. Others tried a burger which looked fine. Ultimately this is a hotel restaurant more so than a destination restaurant. Good food at reasonable prices, unless you're getting the steak, which are twice the price of most entrees. Then again, this is a steak house, so that's to be expected. I got the French onion soup, prime rib sandwich, and salad with salmon as an add on. They were all cooked well and tastes good. Service was fast, but I was the only one in the restaurant. Ambiance is chill and quiet since I was the only one in the dining room. The bar area is inside the hotel, which has nice energy from the coming and going of guests. I don't see a special reason to visit though unless you live in the hotel or have an event. There are better restaurants with better food for less within a short driving distance. read more

While staying at the Hilton Richmond for business, I came in here one evening for a drink before meeting colleagues. I had 30 minutes to kill and thought a quick drink would burn about 25 of those minutes. They were busy, but fully staffed (at least I saw lots of servers) and there were several seats available at the bar. I sat down and waited and waited and waited... The bartender was initially taking care of other guests when I sat down, then walked away for about 5 minutes. He came back and approached other guests, so I waited. After another 5 minutes, he asked me what I wanted. By this time I was there about 15 minutes and was ready to leave, but thought I still had time so I stayed and ordered a drink. Not sure what's up with the service here, but it seems to be a trend at this property and sadly at this bar too. read more

Whenever you get an amazing steakhouse built into your hotel it's a win-win!! so I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in a row & have eaten @ the hotel restaurant 4 nights in a row... their steaks are incredible and their service is spectacular! The filet mignon was amazing, but it is à la carte to let you know!! if you're eating on a budget. I highly recommend the prime rib sandwich!! I had both the French onion soup and the lobster bisque & I will give the lobster bisque 4 stars and the French onion soup 2.5 stars... but the portion is very small!! Bartender's are great! In the 4 nights I have I have eaten dinner here I recommend the "fillet salad" the "prime rib sandwich" & the macaroni & cheese as a side!! I ate crab cakes with coleslaw and fries after hours. I also ordered a cosmopolitan drink. The crab cakes and the drink were fair. The fries were salty, and the coleslaw was not flavorful. This was our second time to Shula's in Richmond. The first time was an anniversary dinner and we loved it. We had been wanting to go again and a friend's birthday gave us the excuse. I got the French dip both times. We got fries as as appetizer to share so they let me sub a house salad. The salad is amazing. The first time they didn't ask for a dressing choice and the menu said it was a lemon vinaigrette. It was really good. The second time the waiter didn't ask but brought out ranch dressing, which was good as well. It doesn't seem to get busy until after 9pm, so 7 or 8 pm reservations are easy. We chose to sit in the bar area, which is very causal. There are TV's playing, but they're not too loud. There is a full, nice looking bar, but we sat at the tables. It's a mature setting as it's in a Hilton hotel, but not too stuffy. Overall, 5 stars both times. read more

Had dinner here last night and breakfast here this morning. I'm only posting this cause it bothers me no one is changing their gloves. The staff is wearing gloves which is nice but if you don't change your gloves what good is it doing. You take our order to touch the computer screen along with all other fingers. Then grab our drinks and straws. Go take care of other customers. Bring our food to us , then clean the table where other people were just at remove their dirty dishes and glasses. Then come back and refill our cups and take our dishes after we eat. But never once change gloves you touched a lot of different things in that 30 minutes to an hour. With the prices you charge why are you not changing gloves? The wait staff is really pleasant and nice give them more cleaning products and stop using wipes to clean the tables read more

Opted to dine in at the hotel, as I had a food & beverage credit, due to my Hilton Honors benefits. And, I rarely eat at expensive restaurants. So, I decided to splurge. I'd give the place 5-stars, IF the service wasnt so slow. I was dining by myself, and I was there for 90 minutes, and not by my choice. That's a pretty long time, for 1 person. The staff was super nice, but moving at a snail's pace. Im pretty sure they weren't short staffed, unless something else was going on that I couldnt see. That was pretty much the only downfall. The food was pretty damn good. I started off with the cornbread and French Onion soup. The cornbread came in a skillet with a side of butter. Something was off about the taste of this dish, though. Im thinking too much of the skillet seasoning got in to the cornbread. The soup could have been a little hotter, but it tasted real good. Lots of onions. For my main meal, I opted for the Filet Mignon, with red wine & bleu cheese butter and the mac & cheese. I'd say more than 20 minutes after I ordered, the bartender says they are out of the butter. He recommended the truffle butter instead. Finally, after a few more minutes, the entree arrived. The mac & cheese was cooked perfectly and the temperature was just right. Nice and hot. The cheese flavor was pretty good, too. Now, the steak. It was excellent. I maybe eat one steak a year, if that. And Im glad I opted for this cut. It melted in my mouth, was super tender and cooked perfectly. And the truffle butter was a nice addition. For a single person, this was an $80 meal. Way more than what I usually spend on myself. But, other than the slow service, it was worth it. On a side note, the Shula's website needs to update the prices for this location. They have increased significantly. read more

We picked this place for a small team dinner and, having visited ha few years ago, was looking forward to it. Sadly, the experience was disappointing. The single positive was that the appetizers were decent. This was offset by a few things - semi-slow service with waitstaff who seemed bothered by actually having diners to serve, a stark and somewhat depressing setting (prior visits had the lights down and they used table-lighting for a warm atmosphere, and now the lights were bright and showed the hard tile 'food court' floor and dismal lack of color or warmth elsewhere), and poor attempts at entrees. I may not have been as disappointed with my filet it I'd been at a mega-chain restaurant, because I would have had low expectations. But Shula's presents themselves as a higher-end steakhouse, so expectations are higher. If you can't even execute a proper temperature, with both Medium and Medium-well orders coming out the same 'beyond well done', you have no business declaring yourself a 'steakhouse'. Some char on the outside overwhelmed any flavor inside. Sides were passable, nothing special. This was a low-end chain-restaurant experience at a not-so-low-end price. There was nothing about it that would cause me to suggest this place for another company event, and I don't expect to return on my own. read more
