Shugs got so much hype and it was so crowded! This location is near SMU campus and the line was out the door, we waited for a while to order and it took ~20min to get our food. And the food was cold! This was our first time ever trying this place so we went with the classic. We got 3 Spicy Shug w/ Everything Bagel & Pesto Cutlet Bagel w/ Everything Bagel. The spicy shug bagel was an average breakfast bagel with some spicy sauce (wasn't spicy at all in my opinion), but the pesto bagel was really good. I would recommend the pesto cutlet over the spicy shug. I wish the bagels were warmed up though, they were cold and rock hard, the fillings were also not hot. Amazing bagels! Coming from NYC these are certainly fantastic bagels when you're guaranteed a good time. The staff was super friendly in helping buildy order and I absolutely loved the vibes on the wall of Jeff goldblum and timothee chalamet and bagels! To start, the coffee crumb cake was great - I'm picky and I eat them a lot so I was pleased when I saw how yellow and compact the bread (bottom) part was. It was moist and not too thick. It's hard for me to find a good coffee crumb cake and I was pleased here. I got the salmon lox bagel with chives cream cheese and the freshness of the salmon and chives stood out a lot - would come back and try more their bagels! I drove to Shug's on a rainy Saturday morning, ran across the lot in a strong down pour (another attempt to feel something in a city with zero energy) entered their front door to find a line and full house. Not a single empty seat and immediately was feeling the place. I've only tried one other bagel spot in Plano and in all honesty their bagel alone was better than my everything bagel here. I think Shug's is definitely a bagel sandwich place. If you're nearby, they hit the spot! Service was excellent, crowd diverse and great. I ended up snagging a seat at a communal table. I ordered delivery thru DoorDash so my review is based on that currently. The bagel quality was very good and worth ordering 1/2 to full dozen depending on how fast you eat them. The order was correct and everything arrived warm not needing any reheating. The burrito tasted Tex-Mex inspired and hit the spot. I added sour cream and hot sauce which completed the flavor explosion. The plain bagel with regular cream cheese and jelly was good. I didn't need as much cream cheese so do keep in mind 4oz is roughly a container size in the store. I recommend requesting the cream cheese on the side or ordering more bagels plain to distribute the cream cheese to your preference. It was hard to narrow down which to choose from but we went with a Spicy Shug and a regular Shug. Would definitely check this place out if you're in the Dallas area. The Spicy Shug comes with bacon, egg, pepper jack cheese with a hashbrown and hot sauce. I switched it up a little and went with no bacon but an extra egg on a sesame bagel. The hot sauce was really tasty, full of flavor but balanced with a medium amount of spice! The Shug is similar but without hot sauce or pepper jack cheese. I have been seeing this place pop up a lot on social media and decided to give a try. When I arrived there were quite a few people, which I was prepared for. I got the everything bagel 'HP special' and it was so delicious that I can't wait to come back and try it again. The bagel was soft and chewy, but had a bit of crispiness to it as well. The HP special has avocado (but you can also substitute it for cream cheese or add onto it as well) with cheddar cheese, scrambled egg, and a sausage patty. Some of my classmates went to SMU but have never had Shug's Bagels before. It was time to change that. We met up at Shug's bagels at the original location on mockingbird, right at the entrance of SMU. It was a Monday but it was packed, there was a constant line of people ordering the whole time that we were there. The line can get long but it moves very fast. They're known for their bagel sandwiches, which you can get a breakfast version or a lunch version with chicken cutlets. I got their spicy shug sandwich on an everything bagel with a few add ons (basically all of them lol). They're famous for their signature snug sandwich, which is a bagel with bacon, egg (I got mine scrambled), cheese, and a hash brown. I got the spicy version with hot sauce and pepper jack cheese, and subbed the bacon for sausage. I also added avocado and scallion cream cheese for an additional charge. You can also add salt, pepper, and ketchup for no charge. My bagel sandwich was huge, it was definitely a jaw workout. Everything about this bagel was perfect. The cheese was melty, the avocado and cream cheese was creamy, and the hash brown and sausage added a little crispiness/snap. The everything bagel also provided a title saltiness to top it off. Or that they have those laminated menus that most places have, so people have time to look before getting in line,. You order at the front and they call out your number. Since it's made to order, it may take a bit depending on how busy it is. It was pretty busy and was surprised we found a spot to sit. There are some chairs outside too. The base breakfast shug and spicy shug are $10.25. Classic lox $13.50. The lunch ones are closer to ~$13. Turkey is $13.50 Got the Chopped Cheese (ground beef) for $12. I actually thought it said chopped beef and was surprised that it was ground beef.. I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew it was ground beef. it's a decent size and filling. And I enjoyed it. But value wise... I'm not blown away. But I do understand the hype. the regular bagel and smear seemed like there was a lot of cream cheese. I wish I just tried the breakfast shug. Maybe next time.. It's hard to find quality bagels in DFW - especially if you've had a NY bagel. Shug's is one of the few bagel spots out here that can come relatively close to. Even on their busiest day, the line moves relatively fast and they stay stocked . Upon closing, they were even offering half off a dozen bagels . I had their classic lox bagel on a plain bagel and my fiance had the Reuben - both of us were pleasantly surprised .
