A happy upbeat & inspirational environment lives here. It is a blend that matches one's caffeine intake and reminds one to get your fitness goals done. This location is massive and one-stop-shopping for all of your wellness needs. The happy counter staff such as the very welcoming, Kenneth, to the kind cafe peeps and even salon staff that absolutely do not take themselves too seriously but are naturally happy and helpful. This was my second time and I wanted to do more than I did the previous time here. I had the privilege of taking a dance class with the soulful and intuitive instructor named Jenny. It was a high energy dance coreo set where she made sure all were included and shined with gusto during the end of class performance. She created a special 'ring of accountability' before and after the class was taught. A true safe space to your bold authentic yourself. This kind of teaching extends beyond one's 'self-care' and exists on a frequency of 'community-care' and supports the 'group mind' of a creative set of artists or people wanting to draw more outside the box. The steam room and sauna were clean and detoxes one perfectly and so does the amazing hot tub and plunge pool duo and while taken all in rotation it was downright Japanese in their easy flowing easy to access layout. For every uptempo aminity there are downtempo ones too. A special shoutout to soulful Elizabeth Brown who taught a mid-day Root Yoga course filled with the best energy and well paced kindness. This is my kind of class, it's solid and restorative in its pacing and keeps the yogi listening without the pressures of comparison. Elizabeth meets you where you are no matter the level of practice and look forward to booking her class again when I am in town next. However, that changed when I went to Powell Fitness and started training with Anthony Castore. It's not a sweaty, smelly, crowded gym with scantily clad women and perfectly coifed muscle head men who grunt. It's a very nice atmosphere with trainers and clients that are all very nice and friendly. It's clean and comfy. Anthony is the best. He is a bodybuilder but actually has a personality, a sense of humor, and he's kind. Kind is a major factor. He really wants you to get stronger and more confident. He's very knowledgable and the complete opposite of conceded and arrogant. He will sit down with you and actually WRITE stuff down about you on a piece of paper and uses a pen.Yeah, marinate on that for a minute. I live in Westerville and it's worth the drive to go to Powell Fitness. Especially if you're going to train with Anthony.

It has been an amazing experience. The classes are limited to 10 people so you can expect loads of personal attention. The gym has all of the equipment necessary for an effective workout (variety of weights, kettlebells, and machines). Elizabeth is always giving feedback on correct form and provides modifications for beginners like me. But don't worry - she gives a great workout at any fitness level! She motivates with positivity and knows just when to push you to the next level. I honestly feel stronger and healthier since beginning a couple months ago. I've heard from others that Elizabeth's husband, John, is an amazing one-on-one personal trainer as well. Check them out - you won't regret it!

Independent, certified personal trainers first establish a business relationship with Training Grounds by leasing / renting time. Training grounds provides the equipment, facilities, building and maintenance for personal trainers where they can provide training sessions. Your access to the facility is through your personal trainer and their relationship with Training Grounds. In other words, you would simply come into this location to work out independently 3 to 5 times a week as you might at another gym. As a client for one of the personal trainers here, you do pay a nominal $10 monthly fee for the key tag that provides you access to the facility for your training sessions. Training Grounds has typical workout equipment that you find at most gyms. The facility is broken down into trainer "pods" where you much of your personal training session happens. They also have different common stations for cardio and larger cable or cybex machines that your trainer may use for your training session. There is also a men's and women's locker room available for clients. Staff have been helpful here. Pretty casual atmosphere. Been really pleased with the independent personal trainer that I have been working. Definitely enjoying working with my personal trainer at that Training Grounds.

I heard about Orangetheory Fitness when they first opened but the price just got to me at first. Then I went for my first class with Hannah B and was enticed afterwards. I was actually seeing results from my workout. Some of these other gyms I went to, the trainer shows up late then gives you half the time for your workout without concentrating on what your goals are. Here at Orangetheory Fitness the trainers are very dedicated to helping everyone reach their goals, in a comfortable and safe environment to workout. They will even adjust your workout if you have any injuries, etc going on, which I love because some of the other gyms didn't do that for me, which wound me up with an injury. The goal at Orangetheory is to be in the green, orange and red zones for at least 12 minutes. Coach Dee Dee is great at making sure you get there! She even has a killer playlist every time I come for her classes! What I love about this gym compared to the others is I get a variety of workouts. Such as weights, treadmill, and rowers. My other gym it was treadmill or nothing. I need variety to get my muscles going and heart rate up. Speaking of heart rate, if you wear the heart rate monitor it will track your progress on the TV screens throughout the class! How cool is that? We didn't have that at my other gyms! My schedule is pretty busy and when I came home and was excited about it my husband bought a treadmill the next day which came with an IFIIT membership that I have been trying the different classes so I have not been back but I do think I will at some point because it was a great workout and different from what I am used to. I definitely recommend if you are struggling with motivation and looking to try something new!
